As someone who does not like parting with my money, I often struggle to find things to do…read more Fortunately, Centre Township Library on the corner of Kern and Miami offers a vast selection of books as well as a variety of events. The library is efficiently laid out, separated into clear areas for adults, teens, and children. There are also many alcoves with comfy seats to sample your choices. I spent thirty minutes in one reading the new Percy Jackson book before checking it out. If you ever have trouble finding a book to read, the friendly librarians are happy to help. One looked at my book list and added three new recommendations, such as Stephen King's new novel. The Outsider was a riveting story. Another saw me checking out Death Note, and suggested a variety of other graphic novels. In turn, this led me to becoming interested in graphic novels, comics, and storytelling through drawing. Every time I enter, I beeline straight toward the graphic novel shelf to find something new to read. Centre Township branch also houses events for the community. Children come every week for story time. Once a month, a euchre tournament is held. Every year, the library hosts a party in honor of Harry Potter's birthday. People from all over the city come to celebrate. And these are just a few of the multitude of events offered. The librarians even dress up as characters! Centre Township Library is a wonderful place to lose yourself in.

I come here nearly every weekend. I've only been on Saturday and Sunday so I can't comment about…read morethe weekdays, but if you're looking for an easy place to park without a lot of traffic I suggest visiting on Sunday. Just be careful in the parking lot, it's small and no one really seems to pay close attention to their surroundings-I've had a few near misses. Also be aware that on the weekends there's typically one or two homeless people out front. They've never been a problem but if you're uncomfortable about that sort of thing consider this your warning. The main branch is where I typically go. I usually request a few books to pick up and then browse while I'm there. I've never had a problem checking out or waiting in line etc. The staff is friendly enough, not very outgoing in my experience, but friendly and knowledgeable whenever I've interacted with the staff.

The children's book seem a bit "disorganized" because there was one long set of shelves right next to the children's section and then two rows down would be another long set of shelves with more children books. Nonetheless, our girls had a good time and we spent at least an hour there to play and read.

It came from a miniature golf course and was donated in 2005 to the city. The city set it atop of an existing concrete water pump station as a tourist attraction. The original location was a miniature golf course that was being demolished to make way for a new condo development. It is named for New Buffalo citizen Chuck Riter who passed away in 2005. Grotto of the Lady of Lourdes is a historic college landmark. I've been to the University of Notre…read moreDame on many occasions over the years. I've also visited during every season of the year. I'm not sure I would return in the winter as it is brutal weather. I always visit the grotto when I tour the campus. Naturally I light a candle for my hearts desire at the time I visit. I remember praying for my daughter to get a job when she graduated! The story of the miracle at the grotto is one of my favorites. If you're interested they made a movie. It's called The Song of Bernadette. One of my favorite religious films. Visiting the Grotto is always a Five Star Experience for me as is any place on the University of Notre Dame Campus.
