Great machines, great staff, everything is clean and well maintained. I can get in, put in my 45 minutes and feel great starting my day.

For the membership prices you think this place would be cleaner and have better equipment... The staff is standoffish as well.

Good facility, but lack of showers/locker room makes it very hard to use if you have multiple jobs.

the membership is way to expensive for how often machines and equipment are broke the staff is very rude they have out dated equipment their leg curl machine sucks if your tall your knees will be killing you in that machine over the gym is clean but the equipment is outdated for how much you pay here I would expect some better machines. today there was a cushion missing from a bench and another cushion missing from another machine these thing should be replaced asap! read more

If you want Covid-19, this is the place to get it. Staff and ownership don't wear masks, members don't wear masks and staff says nothing, members don't clean equipment after use. The cardio machines face into the main area so the runners and stair climbers without masks can blow their breath out for everyone to share. Apparently the machismo culture doesn't allow for safety measures. And sadly this is in a town with a heavy elderly population and at a time when Covid-19 is spiking. I have been a member for years and when I wrote to management to express my concerns, they simple wrote back cancelling my membership. And that's fine with me. read more

I joined online and purchased the $49.99 month membership. I was really excited to make some changes in my life. I went in and found out that childcare is not included (the website indicates it is). I also found out that they do not have the teen club, which is also advertised online. I feel tricked! Since I hadn't used the membership it seemed fair to refund me, especially since I purchased it thinking there would be a place for my two children! False advertising! I even spoke to the manager, Joe, he could have cared less about my concerns and took me to the counter to cancel. He belittled the two employees, which they realized, and degraded their experience. This is not only a good gym but a GREAT one! Staff pleasant and friendly, no attitudes. The owner Doug is friendly with his clients always remembers your name. His facility has many workout areas with Precor equipment. There is a weight room toward the back with all sorts of weights and training accessories to satisfy the most over talented gym enthusiast. Thrive has become a successful part of our daily routine. My wife has been going there for years and finally convinced me to join almost 6 months ago. Doug and the staff are super friendly, helpful and caring. They keep the facility in great repair and its always clean. We both have Kyle as our personal trainer and the results are amazing. Decent gym until you move or have to postpone your service. After two a half years of living in Anacortes a job was offered in another town. Since the employment was given one day past the 25th Thrive informed us we had to be charged for the following month and there was "nothing they do." Not only do you have to pay the first and last month dues to sign up, but you have to pay a hefty 50 dollar "annual fee" to join this average gym. Yes they have nice things like 24 hour access (which they try and con you into getting because they close way to early on the weekends.) Despite this, for the price they charge they do not offer you anywhere the amenities a place like LA Fitness or 24 Hour fitness will for the same price. Everything about these owners policies reak taking advantage of the small towns they are located in. Truly deplorable people with no compassion or understanding. read more

My husband and I had been members of Thrive for over 15 years. We have always paid for the upcoming year's membership in advance. Last April I broke my arm and due to the severity of the break wasn't able to finish out the year. When I requested a refund for the unused portion of our membership they refused. We had planned on returning to the gym once the break was fully healed but due to the difficulty we've had with this situation and the owner's refusal to issue a refund for the unused portion of our membership we will no longer be supporting this business! read more

Only bummer is out of all locations, Anaco is the only one that closes early at 3pm (vs 4p-5p at others.) I had stayed late at church thinking I had an extra hour but unfortunately I missed out. Walking in to Thrive gives you an opportunity to meet and greet half of Anacortes! I love seeing a slice of our wonderful community every time I walk in the door. This is one of my favorite things about Thrive--the clients! The owners and staff do a great job of making Thrive a central gathering space for community members. I've been a member since August 2015 and go several times a week, utilizing pretty much everything they have to offer. The machines, equipment, and facilities are good for the membership/monthly fees. You will find everything you need for your workout and it will be in clean, functioning condition. If not, the staff is responsive and will promptly attend to any issues. The layout of the equipment and machines proves an effective use of space (though I wish there was more space in the weight area). The locker rooms are adequate. They keep them clean and the basics are provided. Nothing fancy but totally sufficient. I'd like paper towels for drying your hands in the bathroom (again), in addition to the air dryer. The child care space was recently expanded and improved, making it wonderful. Supervision is good. Kids are always having fun in there and it's clean. The instructors for classes are terrific. Super encouraging and very knowledgeable. I love the classes and there is something for everyone--lots of variety! Classes are typically well-attended and sense of community is strongly evident. More space would be good improvement--an additional room for just ETF and RPM would be ideal--maybe someday??? ETF (Eat the Frog) classes are an additional fee but definitely worth the extra cost if you want something new that takes you to the next level of fitness. I love ETF and the coaches! The built-in accountability ETF offers will get you results if you commit. I've been doing ETF since they first launched (around March 2016) and it is always fresh and challenging. The owners and all of the staff (front desk, instructors/coaches, personal trainers, child care, etc...) are incredibly friendly and care about the clients. They are responsive, knowledgable, and take pride in the gym/their work. The owners are active in supporting greater worthwhile community efforts (Salvation Army, Friends of the Forest, Food Bank/Simple Gesture, etc...). I joined Thrive a month ago after finishing physical therapy for a total knee replacement. I am very pleased with the facility. It is nice and clean, and the staff are all friendly. The rates are reasonable, and they include a free hour-long session with a personal trainer when you join. I found the trainer very helpful and will consider scheduling more sessions with her. facility is nice, but classes are far too crowded, especially on weekends. Gear room is a cluster with people trying to get in and out with gear through two doors that could be expanded to makes things more accessible. This on top of a FAR too tight turn around schedule with only 5 minutes between classes leaving little to no time to get gear or to clean the nasty floors. This could easily be alleviated by scheduling more time between classes, or just creating more classes, but they seem more interested in packing in the people for maximum profit. read more

Re. Anacortes location. Well, after taking them up on a free pass and checking the place out... it seemed OK enough. Decided the $30/mo basic would be OK and saw there was a $17 discounted membership fee. Wasn't until I had mostly filled-out the application, noticed on a sidebar a mention of "another fee due soon, click here". I then found in 2 months (March) a reoccurring "annual fee" comes due of $31.47. WTH is this? Why? So what's the "membership fee" then? Hate to be blindsided by hidden fees, now I'm leery of these guys. Originally was thinkin the 24/7 access plan was the way to go, but when onsite and saw a notice stating no showers, sauna etc. after staff hours.... well so forget 24/7. I now understand there may be safety reasons. If their website mentions these caveats... didn't see it, don't think it was (but should be). OK, all that said... the place, equipment, staff seemed OK at first visit. We'll give it a go. read more

Great gym with really excellent staff. Lots of equipment, even at high traffic times there is always plenty of machines available. Free weights are plentiful. Favorite part is their child care facility 20 bucks a month for as many visits as you want 2 hours at a time, can't beat it! Would absolutely recommend. read more

I only wish I could give zero or even negative stars. I signed up for Thrive in Anacortes over the phone several months ago on the recommendation of a friend. I gave them my credit card number. I was to receive a free couple of months of gym use. Not long after I signed up I realized that due to working 14 hours a day I simply don't have time to go to a gym. To this day I've never set foot in the place. Every once in a while I cancel my credit cards and order new ones with new numbers. I do this to avoid scams and fraud and I've been following this practice for many years. After my credit card statement arrived and my wife saw the charge for Thrive Fittness on it she complained to me about paying for something that I wasn't using and I had to agree that it didn't make sense to do that so I then realized that I was overdue to get a new credit card with a new number and head off any new charges from Thrive or anyone else for that matter. Now, I freely admit that I didn't call Thrive and notify them of my decission to cancel. I mistakenly assumed that it wouldn't be a big deal to no longer pay for something that I had never used. So, about a month after canceling that credit card I got the first message from Thrive, a perky little female voice telling me that my last payment didn't go through. I ignored the message thinking that when she didn't get a response from me she would assume that I was no longer interested and I also assumed that (mistakenly) the fact that I had never once walked into the place might be another strong indicator that I no longer wanted to be a member. But no. Miss Perky voice kept calling. Leaving messages, little perky voiced messages. I started hearing about them from my wife. She told me I should call them back. I meant to, I really did. Ok, ok I didn't. I honestly expected her to give up and go away. (Another mistake in judgement on my part.) Finally she and my wife connected on the phone when my wife picked up. This created more pressure from my wife on me to deal with the increasingly irritating problem. Finally I happened to be home and picked up. Miss Perky voice explained the situation in detail about how she had been unable to charge me for services that I hadn't used. (my words, not hers). I explained to her that I was no longer interested in continuing a membership and I was not interested in paying for services that I hadn't used. Miss Perky voice told me that I was going to have to give her another credit card number so that she could charge me for another month of unused service. I explained to her that I had no intention of doing so. She told me that in order to cancel my membership I needed to come down to her office and explain myself. I explained to her that I had no intention of doing so. Miss Perky voice then told me that I needed to talk to her manager, Doug. I told her to tell Doug for me that I wouldn't be talking to him, that I wouldn't be coming in and that I wouldn't be paying for any more services that I had not and would not receive. Oddly enough, she seemed to have never before delt with anyone as obstinate as me. I found this almost endearing, with emphasis on "almost". Finally, Miss Perky voice threatened me. With a not so perky voice she told me that if I refused to pay, and refused to come in and explain myself to Doug, Thrive would send my unpaid bill to a collection agency. I told Miss Perky voice to do whatever she wanted to do, but I wasn't going to pay a nickel. As I recall that was about the end of the conversation. I wish I had it on tape. But she continued to call and leave messages. My wife continued to be irritated. My wife continued to in turn, irritate me. Yesterday my wife talked to Doug. Doug told her that it just wasn't enough for me to call and cancel, that I had to send Doug an e-mail explaining myself. I called Doug today. Doug told me that I needed to send him an e-mail. I asked Doug the following question: "So Doug, if I don't send you an e-mail, you intend to charge me for a membership forever?" "Well, I need something in writing." "Doug, I'm not going to send you anything. I'm not going to pay you anything. I'm not going to come to your office. Doug, I've kept a record of all of the phone calls and messages we've received from your business. You're going to stop calling my house. Forget my phone number. Leave me and my family alone. If you don't do this Doug, I'm going to get a lawyer and sue you.. Is that clear enough for you Doug? "Yes" And that was pretty much the end of that call. But after I hung up and started thinking about what had happened and why it happened I began to get more and more angry. I became more and more angry because I started thinking about how that would have played out had I been 10 or 20 years older and less able to stand up for myself and then it hit me; Thrive is using tactics that are often used to victimize the elderly. read more
