Amazing therapist(s)! Shira Preiser Pollio, specifically, is excellent. That is where my positive review ends. Thriveworks' administration is a DISASTER. The billing department cancelled all my scheduled appointments, citing that payments were past due. However, when I would login to my dashboard, the billing section stated, 'no action needed.' I reached out via chat and spoke with Peter who confirmed that my account was in good order and no payment was necessary. Despite reviewing the details of my dashboard and providing the billing department with a transcript of Peter's confirmation, they still claimed my account would be 'paused until payment has been received;' thus blocking me from meeting with my therapist (during a very tumultuous time in my life). The billing department claims you can contact them via email but they will never respond; just know you are emailing The Void. When I called, I was never able to reach anyone who could help me and the representatives are consistently rude and dismissive. The average phone call lasted around 49 minutes. I finally escalated to multiple supervisors....but still NO resolution was reached until I roped my therapist in, who said she would inform her supervisor. In the end, after significant effort on my and my therapist's part (after multiple weeks of back and forth), Thriveworks was able to resolve the technical issue they created. They offered NO remedies for the inconveniences they created, not even an apology. TLDR: DO NOT CHOOSE THRIVEWORKS. Their administrative department has NO professionality or accountability and will make your life miserable due to their own technical errors. In the end, the only reason I continued my relationship with Thriveworks is due to how excellent my therapist Shira is! read more

If I could give Thriveworks zero stars, I absolutely would. I had two sessions with them two years ago, and that was more than enough. My experience ended abruptly when the therapist told me--completely unprompted--that the reason I'm "messed up" is because my parents didn't raise me and my siblings in church. Excuse me?? That is wildly unprofessional, judgmental, and just plain inappropriate. After that, I was told I wouldn't be charged. Case closed, right? Wrong. Fast forward TWO YEARS LATER and I suddenly get an email threatening to send my account to collections over a supposed "late cancellation fee." Are you serious? Not only is this beyond petty, but it's also unacceptable business practice. This company is unprofessional, disorganized, and lacks basic decency. I will be suing this company caused me to lose my job due their psychiatrist medical negligence and not following company policy when it comes FMLA documentation. I have lost wages and but found out through my insurance company they have been paddling my claims to scam them and myself for money. Also Mrs. Taylor H the account supervisor also tried to lie to the BBB regarding a complaint I filed against th company as well stating I spoke with certain people. Which she is only a flunky for the company to try and make the patient look bad. But every conversation I had with this company was with support services never the director over the psychiatry team because I would have a name with transcribe conversations. They upset because I open an investigation with my insurance company for their negligence. TERRIBLE!!!!! I've had a total of 3 appointments via Zoom, 6/26/24 at 11:40am, 7/10/24 9:30am, 7/24/24 at 9:30am, there were problems connecting all 3 times (nothing at all for the 3rd appointment). The first 2 appointments, the Nurse Practitioner ended up calling me and we talked on the phone. The 3rd appointment, there was no connection at all, no call, and $135 dollars was taken out of my health spending account, for nothing !!!! I was started on a prescription after the 2nd appointment, I've been taking the medication for 8 days, the medication upsets my stomach, I planned to discuss this at my 3rd appointment, but no, I couldn't reach the NP on Zoom, she didn't bother to call me, customer service was no help, AND now I'm out of $135 for nothing!!!!! Thriveworks online booking agent discussed my needs extensively, assured me that they could provide the services I was seeking, then proceeded to charge me over $200 for an intake appointment for services that they do not provide in my state. The person I worked with for the intake appointment was nice, BUT Thriveworks does not have a single qualified provider for FMLA/ADA accommodations in my entire state and I consider the actions of their scheduler (assuring me that this is a service they could provide) to be borderline fraud. Absolutely terrible service - nobody should give them their business for any reason. Please look elsewhere for mental health counseling services. read more

I called thriveworks and spoke with the scheduler who confirmed my insurance information before I booked my appointments. She stated that she was going to look up my benefits based on the information I gave her and tell me how much therapy would cost me, specifically couples therapy. I was concerned about costs so I was sure to ask exactly how much each appointment would cost me. She stated that I would not owe anything due to my policy having a $0 copay and $0 coinsurance. She also encouraged me to book individual therapy and I did because she stated it would end up costing me nothing. She asked for a credit card to put on file for no show fees and even stated that I did not have to worry and that I would not be getting any bills or charges. I feel very misled because I have actually been charged $100 already and have been told by billing over the phone today that I would owe for the additional sessions I have had (3 total). The response from the company was: Hello - We have taken the following action in regard to this complaint. After reviewing the client's account and communications with our billing department, we were able to determine that while the client was given incorrect information regarding their patient responsibility during an initial booking call, due to an error in the insurance verification process; the client was also provided with a Thriveworks Consent and Services agreement, which does specifically outline that our insurance verification is not a guarantee and the client will be responsible for any copays or non-covered fees or costs. It is necessary for us to assume that all clients have thoroughly read and understand this agreement before signing it. We have advised the client of this multiple times via email, with the most recent communication occurring on 8/16/23. Additionally, we are unable to set up a payment plan for the client, as there is a $0 balance on the account. read more

After cancelllig my initial apt in the time frame, I was billed for something nearly two years ago when three days ago is the first time I even set up an apt. Like I have never used thriveworks nor heard of them prior to this week. I have opened a case with them and alerted my bank as no one could offer a resolution, this is after I was hung up on by the first person and actually did get a helpful rep the second time. However even the helpful rep, all outside USA mind you, escalated it to an account manager for review so still no resolution as they could do little to assit. So in the interim they sucked out several hundred dollars from an account for a visit that never occurred ever. Total scam and dubious practices and I would steer clear. As it is I will escalate this to my bank and will not be rescheduling. A headache. read more

I had the worst experience. I was told they treat adhd but they put me on Wellbutrin for an off label for ADHD. My therapist didn't give me any contact info in case of an emergency. which after a few weeks wellbutrin made me feel unsafe and gave me SI. I had to call the directory to find my dr. They told me to immediately stop taking Wellbutrin and never followed up for another option. Also fees were never discussed other than my insurance was accepted. A month after my visit I was auto drafted $171 from my bank and I couldn't even afford to get groceries for my children and family. I called twice and was told I'm sorry rhis is an issue with your insurance. If I was told the visit was $395 I would have never scheduled because I know I can't afford that. I have not been having a good experience with thrive works, even after giving them chance after chance. I've never had to deal with unprofessionalism from a therapist or nurse practitioner prior to thrive works. Armeshia Lawrence is very unprofessional, I had a really bad experience and don't wish that on anyone. Since we started working together I noticed something was off but I gave it multiple chances. She doesn't acknowledge you, she doesn't make you feel like she's really there for you. She's there for a pay check and that is very unfortunate. Also, apparently she only checks her email once a week, since she has other things in place taking her time. The last appointment we had she hung up the zoom meeting in my face after I told her I think we aren't a good fit to work together. Choosing someone to help you with your mental health, especially medication is extremely important and can be hard to find, But atleast have the decency to have good customer service and represent thrive works in a good and professional manner. There are more disappointments I have but I'll leave it at this. Get your moneys worth and go else where, with people who are really there to help you AND are more experienced and knowledgeable on what they are doing. Thriveworks suckered my teenage daughter into paying for a $39/mo membership fee. After paying for 4 months, we found out that it was optional. Canceled immediately. They must have realized it was shady since it's not offered anymore. Also, their billing is a nightmare. Daughter had 4 sessions total and whatever happened with insurance I still don't know, but we were given the option to self pay at $99. Thriveworks later rescinded that agreement after we signed their form. They also we paid several hundred dollars from our insurance company (4 zoom sessions). I forgot about my daughter's experience with them until 2 years later, out of the blue we received a notice from a collection company that we still owed several hundred dollars. When I called Thriveworks to ask why they never mailed me a bill, they responded saying they don't mail bills (apparently email only? Hello, spam?). Assuming we would get that. The 4 sessions weren't even helpful. What a complete waste of time and LOTS of money. I would stay FAR AWAY from them!!! read more

I cancelled my appointments and will look elsewhere due to pricing, payment, difficulty rescheduling/cancellation process, and inconsistency. It's expensive, and they charge my card without my consent (i did not use auto-pay and have been paying by going into the portal and doing it myself so no reason for any surprise charges- you would think). The insurance verification process is a joke, they said they were in net-work with the first therapists that I saw. I noticed several hundred dollars from my credit card going to Thriveworks, I called them about it because my co-pay was only $50.00, they told me that the therapist was out of network. So me in need of a therapist I went back in and confirmed myself that this next physician was indeed in-network, I booked with Armeshia Lawrence. Informed my counselor hours before my session and she showed no compassion, she just proceeded to let me know about the fee. She definitely could have waived it and now I'm going back in forth with thriveworks for a dispute. It's really unfortunate since I began my therapy journey for anxiety and depression, and they made it worse with this situation. Now I'm forced to find another therapist. I just spoke with someone to reschedule my appointment at the Roswell Rd. location only to be told that I would have to pay a rescheduling fee of $99. I told the gentlemen I believe his name was Brendan that paying a fee to reschedule was unacceptable. I was unable to make the visit due to being in the ER (I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant) He placed me on hold only to come back to the line to say he was transferring me to someone who could rectify my situation. After holding again for quite sometime, that someone he transferred me to was a voicemail! Their customer service is non-existent. Twilynn is one of the worst counselors that I could have ever imagined. During our final session, she stated, "I think now it might be a good time to separate." When I called her out on how unethical it was to make a statement like this, she stated, "I didn't state that, I just raised the question." I cannot speak highly enough of Sheila. Her natural warmth is something not often encountered. I began seeing Sheila for relationship and anxiety issues, but after a few sessions with her, my husband and I were much more appreciative of each other and better able to communicate. In the relationship department, Sheila is a wonderful educator. I began to experience remarkable relief from lifelong depression and anxiety after two visits with Sheila. I've had many positive therapy experiences, but I never could get to 'happy' or 'contented'. Medicine helps a great deal, as does re-training the brain with positive reading and life teachers (Wayne Dyer is a favorite for me, but each student finds their own teacher when they're ready to learn). Sheila has helped me to get to happy for the first time in my life. Life will always be a challenge for me, but she has helped me to find my happy, and she has also helped me draw a map so I can always find my way back when things are difficult. I'll always be grateful, and I look forward to my weekly sessions with her. And when I need more of a life coach than a therapist, she can make that transition with me. It's already happening, as I am more able to focus on the joy in the present moment, celebrate past accomplishments (which I never gave myself credit for) and look forward to a productive and happy future. Getting from wherever you are to where you WANT to be can be harder for some people, but finding a therapist who makes you feel like you're entering a beneficial partnership makes it not only possible, but pleasant. I had a tele-med appointment with Armeshia after I was told they were able to treat and prescribe stimulants for ADHD. I told her I need treatment for my ADHD and she told me she was not able to treat me for it. She told me I would not be charged for the appointment and I asked her specifically if she would be able to speak up on my behalf if I was charged and she said YES. Then I get charged $199!!!!!!! After I was told at the very beginning that it would only be $99 BUT EVEN also after when I was told I WOULD NOT be charged. I contact the billing department and explained what was going on and they told me they will forward this issue to the director. A few days later I was charged the $199 again so I called the billing department again. They told me that the claim was denied because aremeshia told the director that I did receive treatment and "education" on medication. Which did not happen at all. The appointment was only couple minutes long and it was just her explaining that she could prescribe the medication for me. She LIED because she wanted to be paid for absolutely nothing!!! I sent over 3 claims and even tried to contact the director and they believe her word over mine without any proof of what actually took place during the tele-med because they just want to squeeze an extra penny out of me. AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY TRIED BILLING ME $39.99 FOR A MEMBERSHIP FEE????????????? This company needs to be shut down- this is inhuman to do to people seeking medical attention. I tried making over 2 claims with even my bank and the company reversed it with no documentation or proof. This business is a total rip-off. I spoke in detail with Jafey (Hampton, Ga) today. She plain out lied about what their practitioners can prescribe. After I gave her my credit card information, she sent the forms necessary before my 1st appointments. She assured me that they can prescribe all medications three times. I am 65 years old and have been on ADHD medication for 23 years. The first form she sent clearly states that the practitioners cannot prescribe ADHD medications. I am in shock over the lies. Rethink before you sign up and pay for fees! I made a first time appointment and they were able to get me in the day after next but not without paying $100 for an annual subscription to, long story short, 24 hour access to your therapist where they guarantee they will reach back out to you within 24hours. The irony, i know. I live in Midtown Atlanta and was wrong for assuming an Atlanta address would be convenient. Chamblee, Doraville, Sandy Springs and many other towns are closer than this location. It is over 30 minutes from both work and home for me. The session was ok, only to be told immediately that I needed to be on meds. Don't get me wrong, I went to therapy yes, but with it being my first time stepping out on trying this out, IDK that minutes in you should tell someone that they should be and should have been on meds already. Realizing how inconvenient this location is and not the bond I was hoping to get out of my first therapy session I asked for a refund as they don't have anything near me and they denied me. She called me back 3 weeks later after I had to follow up on my refund request and this is what she said once she introduced herself "They told me to you that you cant get a refund". I find it unethical as I was only on the subscription for 2 days. She only said, "Yeah we can't". Money hungry after reading another complaint dealing with funds and this company.
