Some of my favorite classes are Vanessa's 9am-10:30 Saturday morning flow class, Manpreet's 9am-10:30 Kundalini yoga class, and Carlos's 9am Monday morning Flow yoga class as well as Carlos's Wednesday evening 5:30pm Yin classes. The studio owner Natalie is also a great teacher, as well. The studio has a nice bright energy, and the people who come to the classes are friendly and welcoming to new people. In addition to yoga, there are also often sound baths on certain weekends held during full moons and other celestial events. Those are excellent! Definitely recommend checking one out for deep relaxation. Other offerings I've checked out and enjoyed include a Tai Chi class Carlos taught as well as some yoga workshops and teacher training. They also offer retreats to Italy, Portugal, and more. I highly recommend this studio and the people running it and teaching here. Sign up for classes in advance on their website. There are props and mats you can borrow, and there is free street parking.

I've been attending classes at AYC for a number of years now and can't recommend it highly enough…read more The studio itself is lovely and calming but it's the instructors that really make it for me, particularly Carlos. He is deeply knowledgeable not only about yoga but movement in its many forms including tai chi. I appreciate detailed explanations of poses and muscle groups and how they impact the body. Carlos, and the other instructors at AYC, are very good at this. Perhaps having a yoga center that offers a teacher training program attracts highly skilled and effective instructors.

I asked her to focus on my neck and shoulders due to lots of tension and computer work - I got exactly what I asked for. She was very gentle, and once I asked her for more pressure she gave me exactly the level of intensity that left me relaxed. Her specific techniques felt expert ... I'm sure that part of this is because they are also a massage school. I was also quite surprised by the price, it's the lowest cost massage therapy clinic in town. Highly recommended all around!

I recently moved to Ashland, and am looking for a place to develop a standing massage appointment…read more Recently, I have had to work from an office again, which as we know is counterintuitive to our biology. At present, I felt a (for me) special need to receive massage therapy. I communicated prior in consultation my body's needs, and also early during our session that I needed a deeper, more systemic massage, but my communication did not impact the modality. The response I received was, "We'll see." I was not listened to. I wanted to wait a few days to monitor my biofeedback before formulating an opinion, and as some time has passed, I feel no therapeutic benefit was received. There was no felt toxin release or muscular physiological shift. My body just needs a modality that utilizes deeper pressure for systemic benefit. This would be a fine experience simply within the context of a relaxing afternoon, or if the cost was not aligned with local market rate, which is well above national averages. Unfortunately, I am going to have to continue searching for a massage therapy nearby. I only hope that this was simply an isolated experience, and not representative of the school, otherwise I feel a need to seek external influence in finding a massage therapy of value. I will not be returning to Ashland Institute of Massage, as I received no value for what I paid, which is disheartening coming from the region's education center.
