This place is on the outskirt of the tourist area, but serves a mean sandwich. Having read so many great reviews, I had to go and give it a try. We got there around 11:15am to line up for our sandwich. There was only 1 person in front of us so I thought that maybe the hype has died down or perhaps Monday is their slow day. Well, I was wrong. In about 10 mins, a nice queue of local police officers, construction workers, and other locals & tourists formed behind us. For my sandwich, I chose Italian ham (procuitto) and raw vegetables. The simpleness of the sandwich, quality ingredients & fresh bread, makes it so appealing and delicious. My wife had the fried chicken cutlet sandwich with mozzarella & tomatoes. It had a nice sauce and lots of arugula that made the sandwich. Her sandwich was pretty good, but I enjoyed mine more. I really wanted to line up for a second one, but the queue was growing. If you're looking for a cheap and quick lunch, I highly recommend this sandwich shop. They also serve amazing salads as I saw one being made while I was ordering. Check out some of the pics. It looks just like that. They know what they are doing here.

This place was a lucky find in Brussels... Yelpers gave it 5 stars, so on our last day in Brussels, we walked from our hotel to this place and saw a small line already formed around 40 min before it opened. We explored the area and came back after it opened with about 25 people ahead of us. Not being able to read the local menu, I ordered the "chicken" sandwich and the older couple behind the counter nodded back. I assumed they were the owners and possibly the son was the cashier. They were all very nice and packed the sandwich with all sorts of vegetables and pieces of chicken cutlet. It wasn't a sandwich I was used to having as cauliflower is not normally found in a sandwich in the States, but the bread was soft and fresh and the chicken cutlets were tasty. I enjoyed the sandwich overall but wondered what it would be like to order like the locals and gotten one of the sandwiches featured in the pics of Yelp. Nonetheless, the location is convenient, steps away from a big shopping area, and the meal itself was super cheap. I would probably go back a little more prepared next time and figure out the exact sandwich I want, assuming I ever get a chance to visit the city again.

Great little place for a lunch bite! Very limited hours but the line is always out the door. The whole time I was there, there were no less than 20 people in line. Know what you want before you get to the counter because you don't have much time to glance at the menu. Inexpensive at between 3-5 euros for sandwiches, and they so do salads. I got the Poulet Aubergine salad sandwich and it was very filling. Bread was wonderful and meat quality decent.

super nice staff and worth the wait! the line gets pretty long around lunchtime, but it dies down around 2. I got the ciccio bella which was grilled chicken, breaded vegetables, and tartar sauce all on a baguette. I got the small size for 2.50 which was a great price for the portion. The sandwich was fresh and light. I will definitely be back to try out the fried chicken sandwich that everyone is raving about!

I would go back to Brussels just for this sandwich.

You do not come here for the ambience. You do not come here for a luxury dning experience. You come here to eat one of the best sandwiches you'll ever have eaten. I ordered one with italian ham, eggplant and cheese and enjoyed every last morsel. If you are in the area, this a must.

A plate with roastbeef and veggies.

I always root for the eateries with an eye-catching interior, soul and good, preferably healthy…read morefood behind it. But most importantly I root for a concept, a mission that makes it stand out. Now G. Spud has it all and it's impossible not to notice. To sum it up: Géraldine et Gaëtan (that what G. stands for) are living a dream of reinventing the potato (engl. for potato) or in their words: "make it's image more sexy" (pardon my poor translation into French) and provide the busy Brussels lunch crowd (location! location! location!). am told the place is very popular during the lunch time, you have to wait to get your fair share with a healthy and gluten free (sic!) options combined either with fish, meat or other vegetables. Neither of them exceeding €10 in addition to very generously sized portions. I tried the Tuna Spud and could barely finished it, although I was quite hungry. Now baked potato as I know it from Germany, is a huge bulb cut in the middle and topped with A LOT OF yogurt sauce and, if you are lucky, some salad and mushrooms. At G.Spud you not only get a nice compilation of fresh produce regional produce and funky dressings! It's also planed (so we were told) to introduce a different sort of potato every month, like local bars do with their choice of beers. To challenge our taste and expand our knowledge. Chapeau! While queuing up, pay attention at the way the spud is prepared and cut, even that is a part of the ultimate G.Spud experience. I really enjoyed every detail of the interior, especially how much attention was dedicated to the lighting and creating this breathy, sunlit, summery atmosphere. The team behind G.Spud (and behind the counter) is incredibly warm-hearted and welcoming, far-far above the Brussels standards. Now, although the ugly siblings Fries and Chips have totally ruined the potato family's reputation, the sexy Spud has all the chances of becoming the new sexy kid on the block. I wish the place would be opened after 5pm as I work pretty far away from Rue Jourdan. Well, it leaves me with Saturdays then. P.S. You can pick your Spud as a take-away, however the team is currently working on its packaging to find an ultimate transporting solution for their lovely spuds! Can't wait to be able order.

I went with the ham option, which included the following: --Coffee - I upgraded to a cappuccino, and it was excellent --Orange juice - Seemed to be freshly squeezed, another plus! --Basket of pastries - Truly awful croissant and pain au chocolat. These were probably the worst pastries I've had since I moved to Brussels. They were dry, bready, and bland, and they would have done better if they'd excluded them completely or gotten pastries from the grocery store. --Yogurt with honey - fine --Ham - fine --Cheese - fine --Bread and butter - fine --Boiled Egg - Perfectly hard boiled. As good as a plain boiled egg can get. So all in all, the brunch consisted of an excessive amount of mediocre, pre-prepared foods that are merely assembled in the restaurant. One brunch plate was easily enough to serve two people. I saw some salads at other tables, and they were easily large enough to feed 3-4 people. I would definitely come back for coffee, but I certainly would not return for a meal here.

I loved the burger and the accompanying fries, and even the side salad was good. Across our table, we must have gotten every dish on the brunch menu, and everyone was extremely happy with their food. The ingredients tasted very fresh, and the chef made some interesting and unexpected flavor combinations. So why only three stars? This place had the most horrendously rude service I've ever experienced in Brussels, and that's a high bar. We were yelled at collectively as a group, because we ended up having three extra people show up. Organizing big group events is hard enough without a server yelling at you, and they seemed very upset to have the extra business of three people. Several of us were yelled at separately, me for being in the server's way while waiting in line to pay, another for asking the status of the coffee she'd been waiting 20 minutes for, and several others for various things that should not have been issues at all. There were a few cases where the servers mixed up the orders or brought out dishes nobody had ordered, and they got mad at our table for that as well. Despite the inexcusable service, I would still consider going back, either by myself or maybe with one other person, in hopes that we would get better treatment. The food was that good.
