WOW. Just wow. I met Armando while I was traveling in the Canarian Islands and he shared with me…read morehis attitude and life dreams about a healthy living. I was curious, as I started to change my diet 2010. I was ill already since I was born, so it was for me a big change to take responsibility for it and become healthy. I was reading many books about diets, foods and fasting and 3 years later, I was achieving my freedom in getting rid of the desease. This was the first step to learn about healthy foods and how to prepare them well. Then, in the winter of 2013 I met Armando and his passion and story inspired me to grow my horizon about conventional, industrial foods. I find it very funny, how people rate this restaurant 2 or 3 stars, complaining about something totally different. If you go to burger king, you cannot rate them 3 stars with a comment like the burgers are better in McDonalds, because its made completely different. So, Armando was preparing his food for me already years before he even opened the restaurant. That was impressive and I believe, that people will wake up sooner. All other restaurants are just open to make profit and push the price to the minimum, that more and more unhealthy ingredients has be used, to keep the price down. But real foods are grown naturally. They only understand the importance, when there will be a lack of health and then they reconsider life. But, then it is to late already. Thank you for making an impact Armando and continue the great food supply. Carry on and the people will wake up one day!

I'd heard great things about this place from a friend who enjoyed the food so much they went 3…read moretimes in their stay in Zurich, forgoing their other restaurant plans. However, we were a bit disappointed in the taste of the food. We'd tried 2 other self-serve buffet-style plant-based places in Zurich and Lucerne and were very impressed, so maybe we went in with high expectations. The selection is smaller than the other restaurants we tried, and the dishes just didn't have my preferred textures and flavors. The dishes certainly seemed healthier since there was basically no fried food, but the protein they used (tofu, seitan, etc) didn't quite hit the spot. They only had a tiramisu for dessert which had a strange aftertaste. I think it is still a decent vegan option in Zurich, and prices were comparable. Maybe the experience depends on personal preferences, but I personally wouldn't feel like going again unless in a pinch. They do have a nice little store area with vegan products and a wonderful variety of gelato/sorbet flavors. I did really enjoy the passion fruit and stracciatella gelato! They had a new dragonfruit flavor that was good but tasted like cotton candy rather than dragon fruit. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant itself is beautiful and has plenty of seating!

Vegelateria is another vegetarian/vegan buffet option in Zurich. There are both an ample amount of…read moreoptions to choose from, as well as an ample space for small or larger groups. Being a buffet, the service is pretty minimal, but the team was helpful intro-ing my partner and I to the setup, as well as settling up at the end. While buffet meals tend to get a little blurry in my recollection, some of my favourite options in the trays were the indian style dishes, as well as the more fermented foods. If I hadn't filled up on the buffet, I would have really liked to try their gelato. If it's a warm day, leave room for dessert! As all places in Zurich, it is very pricey but if you've already had a couple meals elsewhere it perhaps won't be as much of a sticker shock.

Yelp Review 2026 #64:…read more I'm not vegetarian and definitely not vegan. But I will dabble with the veg from time to time. Hiltl is popular for being the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world. Here's information I will share that I wish was available before planning to come here. You must make a reservation for lunch/ dinner because that's when they're busy. Breakfast is for walk-ins and they don't do reservations. Hop on their website and be sure you're on the right location because they have several within a 2-mile radius...some on the same street. I went here to try their breakfast buffet. I wasn't sure how busy they got for breakfast so, I got here at 6:30am because I got the wrong information online! They open at 7am. Different locations have different hours. Check their website for actual hours and don't trust review site information because it's wrong! They're not busy for breakfast at all. There's 2 ways to do their buffet. You can pay a fixed price and fill your plate multiple times or go and fill your plate once and pay based on the weight of your food - you get free bread. I did the pay-by-weight option. I have a whole day of eating planned so, I wasn't about to fill up for breakfast. When they opened at 7am, they were still putting the food out one by one. By 7:20, all the food was out which was fine. I was in no rush. The spread includes fresh fruits, cheeses, butter, margarine, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, mango mousse, mango chia pudding, banana chocolate brownie crumble, a pear dessert (with cream, vanilla and orange), rosti, scrambled eggs, potato salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, beets, chickpeas, olives, couscous, corn salad, olives, asparagus, green peas, feta cheese, hardboiled eggs, curry salad, dolmades, broccoli and edamame, artichoke salad, bulgur salad, tabbouleh, orecchiette tofu salad, Thai salad, hummus, guacamole, muhammara, etc. They have 6 types of bread. Slice a piece and toast it yourself. Vegan and vegetarian food tend to taste strongly of coconut/ coconut milk and I don't like that. My favorites from the buffet include chocolate mousse, mango mousse, banana chocolate brownie crumble, dolmades, asparagus, orecchiette tofu salad, and Thai salad. I got a mango lassi to drink which I didn't like. It had curry powder. Service was pleasant. The restaurant was clean.
