FIRST-Time Review of Club Pilates Cardio Sculpting Class-WOW!…read more First of all....I SURVIVED! Second of all..I loved every minute of it!! As a first timer walking into Norfolk's Club Pilates Cardio Sculpt class, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had only done the free intro class last week, so I guess the class was going to do, maybe a little reformer work, some light stretching, nothing too crazy! Baaaby! SPOILER :Mama got a FULL body, heart pumpin', sweat drippin', muscle shakin' workout tuhday!! What surprised me most was how seamless the class blended traditional Pilates movements with cardio burst, like leg circles, jumping lunges, squats, and core-cardio sculpting!!! What?! Yes! My abs, arms, and glutes, are still talking about it. Despite being a newbie, I never felt lost. Pam, the instructor, offered mods and checked on me and others often. Everyone in the room was sweating, smiling and breathing. lol. I'll be back!! Take advantage of a free class. You'll be hooked like I was!

The facility itself is very clean, the instructors were pretty good (shannon was my fave!), but as the studio grew in popularity classes became impossible to come by unless you scheduled them a month in advance. I ended up wasting credits due to not being able to find classes that fit my schedule. I also never was able to progress past a level 1 class even after going to 3 or more classes a week for a year. I had previously done traditional mat Pilates in my 20's and had faster growth with that than with reformer Pilates. I hope they can either open another studio in Norfolk or expand the current studio to accommodate all their clients. More weekend classes and evening classes would work really well for those with traditional job schedules.

The student rec center is a HUGE sports center that caters to students and members of the community…read moreof all abilities. All activities are scheduled so don't forget to check the ODU web site before venturing over. From the pool to the locker rooms everything is kept neat and clean. There is ample parking here but it may be a short walk to the facility. There is so much to see and do at the SRC. There is always a practice, or game happening. The students, employees, and volunteers are friendly and very helpful if you need help navigating the SRC. Happy Sporting Yeeps!!!

I'm not sure if there's a parking lot near this place but I just park at the garage where the parking office is, it should be a 5-10 min walk(Walking with friends talking gossip stuff maybe 20 mins lol). The check-in process was fast, for first-timers, you'll have to go to the desl and they'll show you how to register, as I remember you have to put your hands on the check-in thing 3 times then you're good to go. Well they'll teach you. After that you just have to punch in your UIN then put your hands on the check-in thing then you're good to go. I didn't have time to use the machines but they look amazing and new, and there is a big variety of machines. There's also a track on the secomd floor for people to jog. And there's a swimming pool, a climbing wall(not always open, look for the schedule online), many rooms for classes(some of them are free, look for them online), squash rackets etc. There's a place where you can rent all the equipment to play, I came here to play basketball so I rent a basketball, and it is a Nike. The reason I took one star off is because of the basketball court. Although it is huge and I like how they put a thing to block the farthest court so the intense games on the other side won't worry about us the chill people having our ball rolling into their court, the floor is slippery, which means it is dirty. The floor is also weird because the ball won't bounce back, I guess they are some cheap materials. Overall, it is a good recreation center to workout, especially it's free for students so you cannot ask for more.

I'm doing the 2 week Challenge and waited to at least do my 5th day to really get a feel for hot…read morehouse. What I love about Hot house is that they're more structured and have more information before you get into heated yoga practice. Although an added charge, they have a road map of postures online that you'll be going through and give you insight as well as modifications if you're just starting out, it's great for beginners as well as advanced practitioners that might want to go back and review. Knowing this helped me feel less awkward and to just focus on my postures. The classes are consistent when it comes to poses. Hot house yoga room is organized with dots that you align your mat with and what's great is that they play music while you practice the poses. Beginner = Stability classes More Experienced = Hot Flow Hot house yoga, is and can be spiritual (I mean yoga itself is spiritual), I hear people say that it feels good and yes I get a good runners high at the end but I still feel like a loose noodle and not so much a stiff pretzel (which is a good thing). What I like about doing heated yoga is that it's a life changing (how do they say it...) paradigm shift. The only thing that I can possibly see Hot house improve upon is probably adding a sauna/steam room to quickly acclimate before the class. It's a challenge in the beginning but that's just me because I enjoy winter more. They have Mat and towel rentals. They offer a good line of yoga products which is with Manduka. I've had a Manduka mat and towel for years and they last a long time. The classes are flexible and affordable which is great.

in 2018, I went to my first hot yoga class at the Norfolk studio and I was so impressed with…read moreeverything about this studio and the practice. Here's the thing - the studio has a very sophisticated HVAC (heating and air flow/filtering system). I don't think I have found another hot yoga studio that provides that level of air quality during practice. Equally important are the people, the staff who check you in and the yoga instructors. Honestly, someone suggested I try hot yoga and I thought there was no way I'd make it through a class. Now, here we are 2023, and I am still practicing at Hot House Yoga. There are many health benefits when you add hot yoga to your practice. Yoga was transforming for me, and I took it up later in life. Then I tried hot yoga and I am very grateful that I found a clean and beautiful place to practice. Thank you Hot House Yoga. Namaste.
