This is a sanctuary for endangered spider monkeys. They have saved them from just horrible…read moreconditions and you can tell they really love and take good care of them. After they tell you what to expect and what not to do .. you get in the a cage with the monkeys. They come to you and often climb all over you .. play with your hair. Sometime they sit on your lap or hug you. It was just the best experience. You shouldn't wear glasses, flip flops, earrings ect .. monkeys will take them .. but they tell you this. The cost of this is not cheap but getting there is usually the tough part .. and it's not the easiest place to find. Theres a road by the on ramp it becomes a dirt road with lots of pot holes and brush sticking out in the road. We have been here twice and both times very concerned that we were on the correct road ... no sign of road name. was a bit concerned going into a jungle road .. Mexico don't have the reputation for being a safe place. once i got to the Jungle place monkey sanctuary I felt totally safe and at ease. I'd recommend going early to make sure you can find it and because you can walk around .. the monkeys came up to me and were curious. They were in a cage but we held hands and fun to watch them. all the funds go to saving more monkeys. Plus if you are staying at an all inclusive they appreciate donations of fruit. Heidi and her husband are totally devoted to these monkeys and they use your camera to take pics for you .. you can't bring a camera in the cage .. as the monkeys would take it from you. But you will want pics of your visit. I'd say this was a once in a lifetime experience but I've been there twice and will come back for more. book this before your visit as they are hard to reach and they only allow limited amounts of people and only certain days .. they don't want the monkeys to be overwhelmed or exposed to too many people. The groups that go in to the cage are rather small .. around 10-14.

What an amazing and fun experience. This couple rescue…read morespider monkeys and give them a good loving home. Around 120 monkeys! They have one little brat monkey - the first one been born at the Sanctuary , She is total brat but very fun to meet. A must do while you are in Cancun.'
