MSKCC has the top oncologists and nursing staff in the country. I am still a patient for annual check-up. I highly recommend Dr Alexandra Heerdt. She is an outstanding surgeon. My Oncologist, Dr Curry has since retired, but the follow up care from RN Cannon and her team is exceptional. God bless those who are going through the most difficult diagnosis. There is hope. This office is practicing balance billing for in network providers which is against the benefits…read morepolicy. The doctor is in-network with our insurance. The insurance says that the services are covered. There is no patient responsibility except for copays or lab copays. Christina, has been attempting to bill the difference between what the insurance says is the allowed rate, as per the doctor and insurance contract, and what the practice is charging. As a in-network provider, this is a breach in contract. She keeps making excuses about the insurance denying claims/ not reaching out to her / that her hands are tied to handle this situation but the only denials that the insurance see are for services that THEY were too late to file a claim for or filed incorrectly. Even then, there is no patient responsibility. That's on them to take the loss for having a clearly clueless and inadequate billing team who does not know what they are doing. And then they have the audacity to threaten to send to collections, for a bill not within patient responsibility as stated by insurance. Christina is clearly trying to avoid doing her job in order to force patients to pay off whatever charge the office wants. Uncooperative, ignoring calls from the insurance to clear the issue, and now us. She keeps acting like it's a problem that the insurance and the patient needs to solve but that's not the case. This is a problem that the office's billing department is supposed to solve. Insurance has already settled that the services are covered with only the copay as patient responsibility. The denied claims is because the billing department was too late and not doing their work in time, not because of lack of coverage. There is no argument, there is nothing unresolved. It's on Christina. Do not go to this office. They deserve to be shut down.

She is, however, a clear communicator who was comfortable going over the procedure, what it would entail, possible outcomes, and post-procedure steps and pain management. Twice. AND - she called me immediately after the procedure to let me know all was good and that i could head over to pick up my friend. Okay, maybe she is a warm and feely Theodora bear outside of MSKCC. We don't know. Oh, almost forgot to mention - she's a gifted cutter, which is what my friend really came for, anyway.

The other staff though, once I was checked in was AMAZING and I can't express how much I felt valued as a human and felt safe. Gabor Nemesdy, was my Anesthesiologist and he was just great!!! My nurse was Annie and she was also great! My surgeon was my primary Obgyn, Michael Frey, who is always amazing and the only one I would trust to do my surgery and his assistant was, Chioma Iwelumo and she was also lovely!
