Tiger barber shop is the classic old time barber. They only take walk ins but everyone there is willing to talk to you if you are willing to talk with them and join the conversation. A usual wait is about 15 minutes. The hair cuts are great too. They are super quick and all the barbers are good at figuring out what you want and getting it done. Ijust get a hair cut and it runs me about $20-$25 with a tip. A beard trim is more and a neck shave is a little more but they can do it all. read more

Do not go here if you want any type of length left on your head. They simply cannot cut your hair unless it's a fade straight out of the textbook. It's like these barbers simply can't comprehend the idea of leaving it longer. Even if you emphasize time and time again you only want a tiny trim, or even if you show a picture, which I always do, they almost ignore it. I waited an hour for my haircut, and each client before me had gotten at least 30 minutes spent on them each. When I sat down in the chair, he just ignored my instructions completely. He just chopped away with no regard for what he was even doing. It was like you gave a toddler some scissors and let the have at it. The haircut is long where I wanted it short, and short where I wanted it longest. It's the opposite of what I want. It's like if you want any length whatsoever, it's just a foreign concept. Do not go here if you want to have any type of hair to grab onto. It's been two weeks, and it's still shorter than I wanted even the day of the cut. It's ridiculous. Always a great cut! The barbers listen to what you want and always deliver. It's not the pretentious over priced barber shop that you see in big cities. This location is quaint and filled with hometown spirit. The customers inside are always great people that have great conversations. Even with a full line, I've never been inside for longer than 40-45 minutes. Brad Holt and the rest of the crew make you feel at home. Cash and local checks only, keeps the process quick. I love that it's designed for walk-ins only. No more waiting longer than you need for a hair cut due to a full schedule as you attempt to make an appointment with your "normal barber". I went to this barber shop for about three years. During that time I went through styles from a Military crew cut to "cut it so I can do what I want with it." My regular guys were Greg and Brad. What I loved is that when I sat down at their chairs, even though I had been going there for years, they still asked what I wanted. Nobody knows when someone might change. Greg and Brad always hooked me up. Though I went through a short stint with a long on top, let me style it, phase, they did that great, but I cannot praise them enough for their short haircuts. It might seem easy to get a 0-2 faded high from your brother at home ( I got mine that way for 8 years) these guys really show you what a professional can do. I even went back to Tiger's after trying other place around town, like the Student Union and The Buzz to. Once it was to fix what those other places did to my head. I've been going to the Tiger Shop for probably 20 years. Just an excellent, OLD SCHOOL type barber shop where men go for a haircut. Most customers are greeted by name when they enter the door. Brad Holt is INSIDE COLUMBIA's best barber in town, year after year. Greg, Damon and Vance all do a great job. Very reasonable prices and definitely not a 'trendy' place with a catchy name. Just moved to town from Philadelphia area, so I'm used to the east coast way of things. I was excited to get the small town barber shop experience , and I did! It was super friendly , I walked in close to close and they didn't care at all, made a joke and moved forward. It's been around for almost a hundred years and its in a small "city" but they give top notch professional service and cuts! I will be back and look forward to it! $13-bring cash, I only had plastic and $14 so I told him ill catch him with the rest of the tip next time and his attitude didn't change. read more

This is the type of barber shop you see on TV. Great conversations while you get your hair cut, and polite, respectful barbers. Cost was $15 for a guy's haircut, which is pretty average, and he was very thankful for a $2 tip. I can't say anything about all hair styles, but if you get a classic, trimmer on the sides, longer on the top cut, they do a great job. Also, They wipe your neck off when they finish; I left without the feeling of little hairs all over my neck, which is always a bonus. read more

I am not happy at all with this haircut, I should have taken the sign when I walked in and there were four barbers sitting on their phones with nothing to do. But I thought, maybe it's just a slow time of the day. No, it's because nobody goes here to get a haircut. I told him to do a one on the sides and trim the top, which is what I normally tell barbers. He went wayyyy too far to the top of my head. Like, there's only a little patch of hair left on the top of my head. I'm usually a little upset with haircuts at first just because it's a change, but it's been hours later, a whole shower, put some gel in it to see if that would help and I am still about to chop it all off with clippers at home. read more

If you want to get a haircut that makes you look like a member of a boy-band, then this is probably not the place for you. If you want a man haircut, then you cannot do better than Tiger Barber. Before I moved away I went there monthly for about 10 years, and I never had a cut that I didn't like. No matter which of the guys cut my hair it was always even and laid down well. After moving I was never able to find a place where I could get a good cut with the same consistency. Now, 4.5 years later I have moved back to Columbia. I walk into Tiger Barber, see the same guys working there and get the best haircut I have had in a long time. Last time I went a cut was $13. Bring cash. On weekends and before holidays it can be very busy, but if you hit it early during the week you probably won't have to wait at all. Personally, I have never waited for a specific barber. I have gotten good haircuts from all of them, so I would just recommend going with whoever is free when you walk in. read more

Okay, this is a cool little barber shop. But, my barber gave a passable cut at best. I told him what I wanted in simple barber lingo: "Inch and a half on top and taper the sides." I was suspicious when he cut my hair using scissors. Scissors or for salons; a proper barber uses clippers. Scissors just cannot give an even cut with short hair. It looked decent when he spun me around, but it's two weeks out and I'm considering getting it cut again just to shape it. I'm good for five weeks with other barbers. The second point that disappointed me is the guy didn't know what taper meant. He spun me around and asked how it looked. I thought he hadn't even gotten to the sides, but he was done! For a guy with a wide face like me, I need it short on the sides. It's a pretty basic hair-style term and he didn't know. There are more reliable shops around. I will not be going back. read more

So far I have had two different barbers cut my hair, both have given a solid cut. There is hardly ever a wait time of more than 10 minutes and they do a quick and efficient job. The price is cheap and the barbers are nice and friendly. Don't forget to bring cash as they don't take credit or debit. read more

It is so bad. I can't believe how he did to my hair. I was afraid he misunderstand how I want, so I took a picture of myself few months ago. And he cut it way shorter than I want. I had no chance to ask him stop since he used clipper from the top. I can't believe how this can happen. I gave this shop 2 stars because last time the other guy did it ok. (I showed that guy the same picture as well). Anyway, I am sure I won't go to this place anymore. It is so terrible. read more
