Billy Ransom is a small time crook. Look at the other reviews on his page most good but a pattern is there. Set up a hog hunt and reccomended from my local bow shop. Sep. 26th was the date placed and paid $150 deposit over the phone but hurricane Ian came through & adjusted date. Then a death in the family happened within my family the next week and when I asked my deposit to be returned so I can bury decedent (weeks before date), Billy ignored about 12 communication attempts (texts/ calls/ an email). 19 days later until I mentioned showing up at the public address, he immediately texted that address. At one point, I wasn't sure if he had an emergency or was in a hunting accident..things happen and I'm sure most people would understand. He'll say his service is low and texteting is better but what's interesting is when I called the 1st time, he picked up on the 2nd ring and the call was in tact for about 15 minutes. He confirmed a refundable deposit about 3 times with me. Don't trust this "man" or "hunter" let alone his "buisness" because if you give him money he will not honor his work let alone his word. read more

I took my daughter Katherine to Tiger Island Outfitters in December 2017 for her first hunt and her 12th birthday. We trusted Tiger Island outfitters with a big event for her. Katherine shot a hog, and she literally begged us to pay to have the head mounted. She was extremely proud. So, we paid a lot of money, and Billy told us that the mounted head would be ready in 6 to 12 months. It's been 18 months, and Tiger Island Outfitters never delivered the head. They didn't even responded to the last few messages from Katherine's mom. They took our money, ruined our daughters experience (she has never asked to hunt again), and they really made zero effort to fix anything. No apology. No free hunting trip for her to shoot a new boar. Not even a refund of the mounting fee. Nothing. Please do not trust this company with your hunting experience. read more

Great hunt. The price is reasonable considering most places charge 650 for one pig. They had a special so my father and I were able to hunt for 3 pigs under 100lbs for $400.00. We didn't bring a gun but we used there cross bow free of charge. They gave us a quick lesson on how to use it, a couple of practice shots and off we went. Keep in mind this is a canned hunt on 25 acres, and not a hunt on someone property with a couple of thousand acres charging a high price for one pig in the same setting with a 85% shoot rate. If you handicapped or new to this it is a awsome place to start. Next time I am in the area I will definitely bring the wife for her first piggy. They got us in close enough to use the bow very effectively, minus my terrible shooting. Items you should bring to this place being a out of towner with a rental car. Bring a cooler at least a 32qt for all the meat. If you can manage it and fly with a gun do it. All in all very happy with the hunt. Will definitely go back when the opertunaty presents its self. read more

Myself and three other guys hunted here. They set us up in different spots around the property and we all saw a lot of hogs and a lot of wildlife. The way its set up is yes the property is fenced in but it feels like a regular hunt because its not like your just walking around blasting away. I shot two hogs at about 50yds from my stand. One was about 87lbs and the other 50. everyone got one or more and the staff was very good they made sure we had a good trip. If your looking to sit in the woods and relax I recommend this place. We all live in florida and have tried other outfitters and we all liked this place. If your looking to take your kid or kids on there first hunt this would be perfect. There are a lot of ticks but that's to be expected in the woods and just give yourself a good look over afterwards. read more

The hunt this morning with my 14 yr old grandson was truly amazing! He shot 4 hogs, with a total weight of 530 lbs. Billy was great to work with, he keeps things simple and is very accommodating. I did my research, this is the best hunt hands down and his pricing is very reasonable relative to competitors. First I would like to mention that the two gentlemen that helped were very nice and very eager to please and the area was beautiful. In addition to that the place was stocked (literally) with hogs. There land is (if i remember right) 30 acres of high fenced off land that they stock with wild caught hogs. If you are looking for a hunt, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a place to shoot a big and not have a worry about being skunked out then this is your place. They guarantee at least a shot at a hog (you skill determines if you harvest or not), and I fully believe that anyone with any ability to wield a rifle (or weapon of choice) will walk away with what they want. However if you are looking for a hunt, then this is not the place. Thats the end of the good points and now to bring it to the part that truly ruined this place for me... I went to florida expecting open season on hogs, however when I got down there I find out that on public land they have a season and that I had just missed it. So after a few calls around I find this place so I decided I wasn't going to go home empty handed. When I called them they explained it such that it was a hunt as either a walk and stalk or they can set me up in a tree stand and go from there... Well that wasn't the case, they toted me around on their golf cart to find the pigs and would not let me stalk as they said I could over the phone. They then asked me about what sized I was looking for (which was nice of them as they were the guides and I had given up on the thought of having a real hunt at that point). My plan was to take advantage of their 3 hog deal and said it would be nice to get something around the 200-250 range and then 2 that were around the 100 mark. That way I had a reasonable trophy/something to show off. They brought me to a large boar that they had seen earlier that morning having out in his wallow. He was a BIG boy and they know him well as he has claimed that area for him. I asked them what their estimate was for his weight and they said he was around the 250-300lb range. So I said ok why not have a nice trophy! Lined up and one shot he was down nice and quick, he didn't even have the chance to leave his wallow. We get up to him and he was HUGE! And sadly they did not wait for me to even get a picture with him prior to moving him. They bring their front end loader around and we cart him out for processing (I asked his weight before chasing any more pigs). He weight out at 535 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! They charge by the pound for anything over 100 so this hunt that was suppose to be between the $300-400 (maybe more like 500 since I did want one larger than the 100lb limit weight). I can understand if they were off a little on the weight and maybe he would have been 350... but off by almost 300lbs is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I was planning on getting three hogs and I left with one for over $700 and this now ruined my vacation as I had nothing left for anything else I wanted to do down there. Then without asking they started butchering and cutting him up. They did a half assed job of butchering, cutting up many of the prime cuts and ruining almost all of the chances of the roasts I was planning when I got home. They also hit the bladder as they were gutting it and that ruined a large portion of the meat. After they "skinned" it there were still large portions of meat on the hide that they threw into one of their garbage cans before I would tell them to wait. So I paid double what I was expecting, lied to about the weight, had a shit job with their butchering service (that I didn't ask for, but was charged for). Last point that dropped this from a 2 star to a one... All of my boar's tusks were broken, which was sad because then even a head mount was a meh point now. It was later that I learned from the locals that they INTENTIONALLY BREAK ALL OF THE TUSKS from the larger animals so they don't hurt the smaller one. So to sum up... Lied to about the weight, got a service that I didn't ask for, the service I received tore up almost all of the good roasts, ruined at least half of the meat with urine, didn't get a picture with him in kill spot, and they intentionally break tusks.... I will never go there or recommend there to anyone (which is a shame because I wanted to come again initially since the staff was very nice). But I did get to pet a turkey so I have that going for me... which is nice.... read more
