A year ago my son…read more(a first grader at the time) was having big problems focusing and about 6 months into his KCTKD journey, his teacher commented on how much his focus had improved. So much that she was able to move him up to the next level reading group. My daughter (now a fourth grader) is very shy and wouldn't volunteer or speak up. This month, one of her teachers told me that she is taking more risks and raising her hand more. I contribute their positive transition to KCTKD. The instructors work with them on their focus and encourage them to get involved. They are positive role models in my kids lives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, KCTKD continued. They didn't close down but instead offered classes online. This was the one thing in my kids lives that was a constant and brought some stability during a time where everything else was turned upside down or was taken away. My kids have been resilient throughout this whole ordeal and I attribute a lot of their resiliency to the innovation and support of Master Cam and the other instructors at KCTKD. I would highly recommend KCTKD to anyone that is thinking about enrolling their child in a TKD program.

All I had to do at that point was to give the school a call, and see if they are even open (due to COVID), and if they are, how they are operating and what not. Easy, right? Wrong. I tried the contact number that was listed on the internet first. No answer. I believe their website had the same number, so no luck there either. After about an hour of search, I was able to find a number, I guess on their facebook page. It went straight to voice mail (I think it was a google voice number), and the greeting gave another number and suggested that I "text" that number. I left a voice mail, and then sent text to the other number, as suggested. No answer. I kept calling and leaving voice mails, and texting both numbers for the following two days. No answer. I ended up enrolling him to another school. The End.

My son was on the competition team and the team never got dedicate team training they were held back from competing and after 3 years of competing were told they werent good enough to go to the nationals last year. Even though they haf gone before and took gold metals. We moved studios and in 8 months my son has competed more and even made the COSTA State team which he was never encourged to try out when at victory. You want to know that the instructors don't see your child as just another tuition check but as an individual that they want to see grow and succeed. That is exactly what every staff member at ATA does. They take the time to get to know each child's strengths and weaknesses, how to talk to them, and how to motivate them. And many of the students stick around for the long haul and end up helping out in classes. This is definitely the most important thing to me. In addition, the change I have seen in my son is wonderful. He takes pride in what he is doing at ATA FMA. He has learned discipline, self-control, and respect among other things. I also love that they take into account how the students are doing at school when belt testing time comes around. He feels seen and cared for when he goes, and he asks to go every day that he can. Which is another thing. You get so much for your money. Most activities restrict when you can go and many say if you miss you miss. But here you can attend any or all classes that are scheduled for the week-which for my son is 5 days. This helps so much when you are trying to juggle work and all of the different schedules in a family. Add in all of the special events they have (Covid restrictions depending of course), and camps etc and you won't feel like you are spending more than the activity is worth.
