They're super nice about having beginners join the classes and make sure you know what's going on as the class goes so you don't feel too left out. As a woman and a mother to two little girls, I cannot speak highly enough of HAMA and the incredible job they're doing with their gym. My daughters and I started BJJ classes a few months ago and its been one of the best decisions we made for our family. My daughters have begun learning imperative life skills while making new friends and finding joy in moving their bodies. I took the leap of starting to train in martial arts for the first time in my life and I can't seem to get enough. This gym not only creates an environment welcoming to families of all ages and learning abilities, but it has become a safe space for me to train with experienced coaches and other like minded individuals. My experiences have ranged from being in a class mostly of women to being the only woman in a class and in both situations my coaches were encouraging, patient, kind and fostered an environment where I always felt safe and comfortable. Probably one of my favorite aspects of this gym is that my girls and I are able to take classes at the same time where I know I'm close by if they need me. The staff and coaches cultivate a space where I know my kids are safe while I can train just a few feet away. As a female, I felt very uncomfortable at this gym. The instructors kept giving me looks and making advances at me. I also overheard the gym owner talking to somebody and I've never heard someone be so racist in my life. If you want a true martial arts experience, I recommend you go to a different gym. read more

What a terrible, disrespectful place! The instructor talked poorly about me behind my back to the front desk staff, but when he noticed me, he pretended to take back his comments! The introduction courses are a joke and don't teach you any fundamentals. You're expected to be trained already. When you decide not to follow up with paid sessions, they call and harass you once a day trying to gain your business. Absolutely do not come here. PASS. read more

I'm a purple belt in BJJ and anytime I travel I like to train at different gyms. The team at High Altitude Yeti BJJ was very welcoming. The gym was clean and organized and the instruction I received during class was great. I was blown away by the amount of classes that were offered. This school truly has something for everyone. The people I rolled with all had a solid understanding of fundamentals. The professor came over and helped me work on a heel hook I wasn't familiar with, diagnosed what I was doing wrong and what I needed to do to fix it.
