Master Michael Catron showed our children how to be 'situationally aware', and used the great analogy of owning the salad bar - don't let anyone in your way, don't let anyone split the group, and no one gets to the tomato crock before you! Also, I took the Women's Self-Defense class with Master Hilary Catron. I travel a lot, and being a woman there is always a safety concern. Even just walking alone down a street or in a different city can be scary. Master H. Catron was very helpful and had us practice defense moves repeatedly to help us get used to the motions and the force required. I'm more confident and better prepared to handle an unwanted situation. Child's Birthday Party: My youngest son had his Birthday celebration at Catron's Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do. The group had a wonderful time. They did self-defense, broke boards, played samurais with foam swords, did jiujitsu with balloons, and practiced some Tae Kwon Do movements. Master M. Catron was so great with the kids and really knew how to interact with them. I was really impressed how he had all of their names memorized. This helped the kids to connect and enjoy the activities. The best part was, the kids were exhausted and had a great workout for the day.

There are very few athletic activities where the whole family can participate, and Taekwondo allows us to all exercise together. No longer do I have to leave the family at home while I go to the gym. Or more likely, not go at all. Taekwondo is built into the family's schedule and we all look forward to going! Even better, I'm not waiting around, bored, for a kid's sportball practice to be over - I'm there on the floor with them. The instructors are professional and thorough, yet friendly, and encourage each student to perform to their individual best. They are especially good with children, and instill discipline and focus into them. Catron's blend of Taekwondo, various other arts, and self defence keeps things interesting. I would recommend Catron's Chung Do Kwan to anyone wanting to improve not just their physical fitness but their lifestyle as well.

He is a positive instructor, making each student feel at ease and comfortable. He challenges his students to allow them to get the most out of their practice. The practice space is small, so classes are limited. I have never had a problem getting a spot, however. Music, incense and dim lighting allow full relaxation. The studio also provides all the yoga accessories you will need: mats, straps, blocks, blankets, bolsters, etc. There are a variety of classes offered, mostly during evening hours, including two beginning level yoga classes and a challenging 2-hour yoga class on Sunday. The downside is that these 90-120 minute classes are not for the time crunched.
