We learned so much about them in our very first meeting, 2nd generation builders, quality homes that have won awards, and very honest, especially about what they can provide with the budget you bring them. The most impressive thing to us was their ability to provide a build schedule and to keep to it. When we approved the plans, they provided a schedule and they delivered. When our build started, they told us our move in date would be 3/9/2023 and on that date it was ours to start moving in! They have an app that allows you to have all the information available to you, schedule, selections of material and finishes and the ability to communicate directly with them regarding any one of those topics so there is no confusion about what faucet goes on what sink or the flooring for each room. We provided them a floor plan that we liked, and they were able to make changes to customize the space to be uniquely ours. They also have floor plans that they can provide if you need. They scheduled all our appointments with the product vendors, so we had someone there to guide us in our selections of lighting, flooring, cabinets and countertops. We appreciated that because we are not designers! They are up to date on current building standards, and they make sure that no corners are cut. The project manager visited the site regularly and would make sure things were to the Big Sky standard and if there were issues, they were quick to have them corrected. The Big Sky team is very responsive when you have questions, and they are proactive when there is a need to advise you of a change to the schedule or a delay in materials. We never felt as though we weren't sure what was next, we could always send a message or check the schedule and get the answers we needed. We are so grateful for the honest and caring way that they built our home. We have been moved in now for about 3 months and every single day we appreciate the work that they put in, especially through this winter build. The Big Sky team took care to make sure this dream home of ours was everything that we wanted, and by doing that, they took great care of us!

All aspects of the process were upfront and transparent. Our project manager was on-site almost everyday throughout construction. His attention to detail was amazing. He made suggestions for things that could be done to make our home unique to us while keeping our budget in mind. When any concerns or issues came up, they were resolved quickly and satisfactorily. We always felt they were honest and upfront with us and kept our best interests in mind. They are very professional and we were treated with respect. We were on schedule throughout construction and, in fact, the house was completed a few days ahead of schedule. You get what you pay for. Looks nice on the outside but as we watched the construction every day…read morewe pointed out issues that they ignored until further into the build so previous work had to be redone. Windows were cheap, you can hear wind howling through. Load bearing porch beam was only sitting on 1/4 of its pier on one end of porch, the other end was supported only by the sheeting from the garage. Since my husband is in construction, we added additional supports after workers left. There are no braces in the floor so the floor bounces as you walk on it, but we'll go down into the crawlspace and add the 2' braces. Roof trusses had up to 1 1/2" gaps with the room framing which left the ceiling with a crack. Communication was so-so and there was no supervisor inspecting anything except a couple times during the build. You would think that since they knew my husband would be living on site, they'd take care to do things right the first. Fortunately we took pictures during each stage to document issues. I feel sorry for the buyers who don't get to see the bones of their house. Really sorry we used this builder. We've now lived in the home for a year. At least it's insulated well.

Do not be fooled by this company statement on Garrett W. Odlin (owner) website. "We focus on the…read moreideals of being trustworthy, where our word means everything. We're not like your typical builder who is only there to make money, we are here to build relationships and trust for years to come. No house too big, no home too small." He also states the company has 50 years of combined construction experience. Garrett W. Odlin is in his middle 20's, and he has no employees. I had to threaten with lawsuits in order to get a refund for services he never performed. Lookup Rustic River Construction and excavation (Corvallis MT) as well. If you risk him have a signed rock-solid performance contract to include materials lists, performance stds/schedules to include penalties if not performed as per the contract/schedule. Do not pay him any $ until he personally shows up on the jobsite with the agreed to materials to begin the project.
