Food wise I got a bacon and hard-boiled egg roll - there must have been at least x2 eggs in there! So really generous filing, and an excellent strip of bacon but only one, wished there was more and just right amount of butter. Loved each bite and it was a bargain at €2!! Because it was a three hour train ride back to Brussels, yep I took the slow train, I also got a cheese sandwich for €1.95. I was quite impressed by both freshness and quality - each sandwich had date and time it was made and I could see the people in the back making the food fresh. So totally recommend and wouldn't hesitate to buy from here again, when next need to grab something quickly.

I had made a reservation right beforehand on their website, but I definitely didn't need it. There's a nice patio outside, but because it was starting to get a bit chilly in the evening, we opted to sit inside. My friend got the Thai chicken soup ($8) to start and had the chicken satay skewers ($18.50) for his entree. Interestingly enough, the restaurant was out of chicken (is that really a thing?) so the Thai chicken soup because a Thai veggie soup instead. He didn't mind though, and really liked it as it had a nice coconut flavor. The chicken skewers were good as well. I went straight for the steak and ordered a medium sized beef tenderloin with their garlic gravy ($27.50). The server asked if I wanted fries with that, but I went with a healthier apple compote side for $3.50 instead. I absolutely LOVED my steak, and that's quite rare for me as I'm generally not a steak person. I was a bit worried because she didn't ask how I wanted the steak cooked, but I guess here the default is to cook it on the rarer side and I certainly didn't mind! The steak is served swimming in a pool of gravy, which I've never seen before. Each bite was super tender, and the garlic gravy it came with was super salty so by dipping the meat into the sauce, that guaranteed the meat was flavorful enough. The apple compote was delicious as well, but I wish it was served warm instead of cold. I was very happy with my decision to come here for my first meal in Amsterdam!

When the weather is nice, you can enjoy one of the dozens of picnic tables outside on either sides of the building. This means that De Pont is great for groups! I didn't have food here, but the cappuccino was good, although the accompanying cookie wasn't fresh, but I wouldn't judge them for that.
