The ferry ride was smooth and it only took about 15 minutes to get to a Toronto Island using the ferry. It was fun seeing the different views of the Toronto skylines. I had lots of fun recording videos and taking pictures at the top deck on the boat. You can also choose where you want to sit, like if you want to be indoors or outdoors and you can constantly walk around the boat too. Ok so the reason why I took the ferry was because it brings you to Toronto Island. Toronto Island is a place with a lot of different activities and beaches. For example, they have a theme park, a variety of small beaches like a nude beach, and also places to sit and relax. You can also get a good Toronto skyline view there too! I'd recommend this ferry! It wasn't bumpy, but the boat can get crowded. Later, I found out that there are also a thing called "water taxis" if you want a private ride to and from the island, so that option would be good for people who don't want to be on a crowded boat.

We never made it because Toronto was completely gridlocked from the Messi event. I called and was told by one of the operators that I would be able to use the tickets another time, so I wasn't worried. When I actually tried to rebook, nobody answered the phone. After calling over and over, I was forced to use their texting service. Suddenly, I was told my tickets couldn't be used, I couldn't get a refund, and they wouldn't offer any credit or compensation. Instead, they told me to contact travel insurance. I'm from Northern Ontario. Why would I buy travel insurance for a day trip within my own province? Keeping over $400 for tickets that were never used and refusing to work with a customer in any way is terrible business. The complete lack of communication, impossible customer service, and unwillingness to stand behind what your staff told me is unacceptable. They never told me I had to present the physical receipt, not even once upon my return; but being cautious, I took a picture of my payment receipt, and I won't rest until they refund my money and apologize to me for the appalling and terrible service I've never experienced. I have a picture of the receipt and proof of credit card used, and even so, they wouldn't let me into the taxi and treated me badly. It was 9:30 pm, and in the dark, I couldn't find the receipt. Where is customer service? Where is humanity and excellence? They never told me anything about needing to show the physical receipt, but they still charged me $54! They wouldn't let me board, and I had to pay for another ride to get back to the city. Upon returning to Toronto, I immediately went to speak with the saleswoman, who told me she couldn't refund my money. I managed to speak with her supervisor, who, with a rude and arrogant attitude, told me I wouldn't get my money back and that it was my responsibility to read the ticket and the company policy... How ironic! Where is customer service and respect? Where are my rights? Have they forgotten that their salaries are paid with my money and the money of other customers? They could have given me a certificate so I could use the service again, or offered a solution and shown respect and a positive attitude by doing the right thing. When they charged me, they didn't warn me about the company policy! I will report this terrible incident to all necessary authorities until justice is served, and above all, I want to warn other users and eliminate this horrible practice. I was scammed! I also gave a cash tip to the water taxi driver, who was very kind to me. It's not all bad; some staff members are very kind, but those in charge of supervising and serving customers lack basic interpersonal skills. It's not right that they operate this way. Don't trust this fraudulent company, and I hope my complaint is resolved and that they respect people's humanity in the future. From start to finish, this was an extremely professional and well-organized experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and kept everything moving smoothly throughout the day. One of the best parts is how convenient the pickup system is -- they have pickup locations near all the major hotels in Toronto, which makes the whole process incredibly easy for travelers. There are several add-on options for the tour, and I highly recommend three of them: 1. The boat ride into the falls 2. Journey Behind the Falls 3. The helicopter ride The helicopter ride especially is one of those "you only live once" experiences. If it's outside your budget, though, the boat ride and Behind the Falls are still more than enough to make for an amazing full day. One thing I'd personally skip is the tower stop. The views are fine, but honestly the tower in Toronto is much better. Now for the one major warning: the cancellation and rescheduling policy is brutal. Even if your flight is delayed or canceled and you provide proof, you are still out the full amount. No refund, no reschedule, no flexibility. We learned this the hard way after our flight got badly delayed. I contacted them hoping to move our booking to the next day and basically got told, "good luck and goodbye." That said... the story has a happy ending. We ended up sprinting through the airport, grabbing a taxi directly from the terminal to the pickup location, and arrived at 8:03 for an 8:00 AM pickup. I had been communicating with them during the chaos and they agreed to hold the bus for five minutes. We used three of those five minutes like it was the final scene of an action movie... but we made it. In the end, I absolutely recommend this tour. Just book carefully, maybe avoid scheduling it immediately after your arrival flight, or get travel insurance for peace of mind. If you plan ahead, you're going to have an incredible time with a professional, organized tour company at Niagara Falls.

Meanwhile a massive long line was forming for the public ferry on the return trip. The staff didn't collect my $13 payment until I exited the boat. An apparent airline partner with Alaska Airlines, the company was founded in 2006 by Robert Deluce. They focused on an upscale regional model initially within the Province of Ontario with planes that omitted middle seats, offered complimentary beer and wine regardless of international flight or not, and eventually expanded into Eastern Canada and bordering United States major cities, such as Boston, Chicago, and New York. Today, they are Canada's 3rd largest airline, flew domestically coast-to-coast, and continued to expand into the continental U.S.. Would I consider this airline important enough to continue using it if they offered a needed travel route!? PURCHASE(S) One-Way PorterClassic Fare ($161.54): Nowadays, I booked one-way flights because I usually had more flexibility when I needed to return. Since I booked the flight less than four weeks before its departure, I was kind of screwed for international air travel on short notice versus during a certain travel season. On an afternoon direct flight that arrived in Newark around 2:20pm the same day, it barely allowed me to enjoy the complimentary snacks... which I was fine with. Checked Luggage (Varied; N/A this instance): A budget airline that had various tiered baggage AND carry-on fees (which airline didn't these days?), the ticket I purchased "included" one carry-on bag. I honestly had no idea how much they charged. I traveled very light, especially for a quick trip such as this, so I only had a carry-on and backpack. FLIGHT EXPERIENCE ~Check-in: I checked-in online 24-hours prior, downloaded their QR code boarding pass into my Google Wallet, and traveled with only a carry-on and backpack, so I was ready to go! I had Global Entry & TSA PreCheck, so my time with security checkpoints and the necessary TSA pleasantries was efficient and minimal. When it was time, passengers were queued-up in order of their boarding group (I couldn't remember the sequencing). The flight literally arrived shortly after it departed. ~Seat(s): 19B Aisle - Come on, it was the same sardine can like all airplanes these days. I always favored a window seat towards the back of the plane close to the restroom and snacks. Alas, my aisle seat allowed me to stretch my legs a bit more. ~In-flight Meals (Varied; FREE this instance): They offered complimentary beer, wine, and snacks, so I ordered a beer I've never had before (Moosehead Breweries Cracked Canoe Ultra Premium Light Beer 3.5% ABV 12floz Can), and some salted almonds. I was just stoked for the free beer! ~Lavatory: I'd done my business at the terminal before we left, so I had no idea of the condition of the restroom closest to me. ~Service & Amenities: All uniformly-dressed flight attendants were adequate and spoke perfect English. None of the seats had video monitors for movie/show watching, music listening, and games playing. The seats themselves were roomy enough, and this particular plane (De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft) had no middle seats. No blankets, headphones, or pillows were provided. The drink/snack cart rolled out shortly after the plane leveled off after takeoff. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): There were parking structures with both short- and long-term options. However, this airport had a very good transit system that consisted of buses, taxi cab service, and Lyft or Uber stations. So, why would you park!? But, if you needed to park a vehicle, hourly rates up to a 2-hour maximum were about $5.00CAD per 20 minutes. Daily rates from self-parking to valet started from $35.00CAD and up. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE With only a lone passenger terminal, I departed out of Gate 10 where there were limited eateries and duty-free shops around, and few flight monitors along the way. There were sufficient places to sit in the terminal with plenty of natural and electric lighting. Once on the airplane, this was what I called a "puddle-jumper" - small, turboprop, and felt every air pocket and bump in the sky. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. I liked to be unencumbered and unfettered, so the least amount of clothing, especially while I traveled through an airport, the better! OVERALL My one-way non-stop flight on Porter Airlines out of Toronto (YTZ) was fine and got me to Newark (EWR) safely which truthfully was all that mattered to me on any flights. I wished there were seat video monitors that helped pass the time. However, I'd fly with them again. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $162.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). I like Porter…read more They're nice, they're low-key, they treat their passengers well. It's a small airline and they really do their best. Our flight to Calgary on Westjet (ugh) proves just how far BEHIND Canadian carriers are in terms of Customer Service and professionalism. Air Canada too, sucks, based on my numerous experiences. For a teeny tiny little airline, they make it a tolerable and easy flying experience. Seat quality and amenities are budget tier.
