I was in San Diego a few weeks ago and all I wanted to do was see some sea lions. After researching on the Internet, I found tiki times Bay sea lion tour. The crew is absolutely the best ever. Donnie is a riot and made sure everybody had a great time. There were only eight of us on this tour, two were young boys and they each got a turn driving the boat. I know that had to make their day. Last year was our first trip with Tiki Tours. We picked the sunset cruise since we have enjoyed them at other beaches in the past. Our friends had never been on one so had no idea what to expect. This was by far, the best sunset cruise I have ever been on. The decor, the vibe, the crew...it was all fantastic. There was definitely a PARTY ride...lots of drinking and music. Loud and fun. Nobody got out of hand but every one was having a wonderful time. And since I was wondering beforehand, I will mention that yes, there ARE bathrooms on board. The captain and crew totally made the trip...tip is not included in your price and even if you go thinking that you won't tip at the end, bring money just in case. I believe you'll find that they make it that much more enjoyable. Ps. We scheduled another cruise this year but it was canceled due to weather. They let us know around noon the day of sailing (so 6 hours prior-plenty of time)...and our money was refunded within 10 days. We will try again next year read more

It was fun! We did the sunset cruise. Got to see a lot of the island we haven't in the past. The music was amazing!! I will say the party vibe of it all depends on the group since underagers are allowed on...so they aren't drinking and they parents aren't so not much dancing. Really awesome time, and highly recommend! My family and I did the three-hour private charter this morning with Captain Eddie. We got gorgeous weather, calm water, lots of osprey and baby osprey sightings, as well as loads of dolphins and a very special dolphin calf sighting! Truly breathtaking. Eddie provided lots of history about the intercoastal waterway and Topsail island. Our time on the beach at Lea-Hatuff Island was sweet - we found many large shells and three shark teeth. I had an amazing time on the sunset cruise! They put the safety of the guests first! !! ( there was an intoxicated and belligerent person that tried to board and was escorted off premises... we all applauded). Once we got off the dock we had awesome music, saw dolphin, osprey.... Not to mention the amazing sunset that can't be compared to anywhere else! Amazing time! The fact that the staff put our safety and comfort before profit speaks volumes to Me!! Overall, we enjoyed our 2-hour tour aboard the Tiki Queen. Our captain and his wife (cannot remember their names) were friendly and informative, especially regarding some of the history of human habitation and development along our tour route. It's too bad that the sea life doesn't present themselves on cue, but that's simply not something Tiki Tours can orchestrate and we only saw several ospreys perched on their nests atop channel markers, some with chicks. One disappointment for me personally was that the "paddle-wheeler" really isn't. Tiki Queen is powered by diesel engines and twin propellers. The wheel is not functional. We enjoyed the tour as a relaxing, if somewhat boring, getaway on the water with friendly folk. read more

We booked a private 3 hour tour online for Tuesday morning after several re-bookings due to weather, we finally were cleared on Friday. They were so helpful throughout the entire rescheduling process, offering us a different time for each day we were here. Constant communication leading up to our trip too! We arrived to the marina about 15 minutes before our tour to meet with Captain Summer. She welcomed us aboard and then shared with us our itinerary for the day. We were going to head towards Lea-Hutaff Island for shelling. The tiki boat was super comfy and we loved sitting in the far back as well as the two chairs up at the front! Great views from everywhere! We were lucky enough to catch the bridge moving for a large ship as we were setting out so we saw the whole process from the boat. Super cool to see! Captain Summer shared lots of local information as we went along the ICW about Topsail and Sloop Point. The teenagers in our group enjoyed the information she shared about Blackbeard on the way back. We hit the island within an hour and had about an hour out on the island to explore and look for shells. We found several unique shells and several big shells. We wished we would have had more time out there to continue looking for shells. We really cannot wait until next year to go on another tour! It was worth all the money we paid. Definitely a must do if you are looking for a cool way to explore the island! read more

This tour is awesome! We did the sunset tour and had so much fun. The ride south through the ICW is absolutely beautiful. The first mate told interesting stories and gave great info about the local wildlife. Then on the ride back they bring out the disco ball and you can request whatever music you want. We had so much fun and the rest of the passengers did as well. It was great to meet people and watch the gorgeous sunset as you cruise down the waterway. If you don't take this tour you have missed out on seeing Topsail island in a breathtaking way. read more

Booked the sunset cruise for a party of 14, advertised as a "two hour sunset party! Enjoy tropical music...sit back relax and witness one of our SPECTACULAR TOPSAIL SUNSETS!" Good time with music and a good crew but came back after two hours and did not see the sunset. It was a good time, but do not expect to see a sunset if the sun doesn't set by 8pm. That information should have been communicated to us prior to the event. read more

We went on the 2pm cruise yesterday with a party of 10 and had small children (all five and under). It was very relaxing and the Captain was pleasant, informative and considerate of everyone. We didn't see dolphins but that was never expected nor were we told there would be. But we did cruise and tour the intercoastal waterway and saw osprey, scalloping, crab traps, beautiful houses and learned about Topsails history, the new replacement bridge and Pirates! I was nervous with small children as they can be unpredictable but the Captain made everyone feel welcome and encouraged us to move around an stretch our legs on the two hour tour. Kids of all ages loved it. I highly recommend this to anyone especially families. read more

Excellent choice for affordable family fun! We went on the evening party cruise. I have nothing to say but good things about this whole experience. The Captain and his first mate were very friendly and accommodating. The cruise down the intercoastal waterway was relaxing and beautiful. The first half of the cruise consists of a little history mixed with sight seeing. When the Captain turns around and heads back the music is turned on and the dancing starts. Everyone has a good time. Both the adults and the little ones on the boat all seemed to enjoy it. If you are not into dancing no problem.... you can still sit and watch the beautiful sunset. I booked a tour based on the reviews. Sadly, we did not have such a wonderful experience. One of the most boring, rather THE most boring, boat tour we have ever been on. The young guy talking spoke for about 5-10 minutes at the beginning about digging the canal and 2 bridges. Then pointed out 2 birds. After that, silence for at least an hour and a half! When we were almost back he talked for about 10 minutes about Blackbeard and something else. The website description made it seem much more informative and not basically just a boat ride. Our Tiki Tour Cruise to Lea-Hutaff Island is one of the most exciting things our family has ever done together. Captain Anthony had so much interesting history and knowledge to share, and did an outstanding job from start to finish. We all felt like he was a lifelong friend by the end of the tour! He went out of his way for us by taking a little extra time when we spotted dolphins on our return trip. I would strongly recommend the four-hour tour. We could have spent all day on the cruise and would have loved more time on Lea Island. It's more beautiful than the pictures reflect, and the treasure of shells we found was more than we ever expected. The water was crystal clear and the shells were plentiful. I chartered the Tiki Queen for a special birthday last August and we could not have been happier. The weather was not cooperating but the captain was right on top of it and the beautiful skies appeared as we were pulling out. We were able to pack coolers and special snacks for our group and the boat had tables for us to set up the food which was nice. It is a beautiful cruise along the intercostal and the sunset is amazing. Great crew! read more

We went for the 3-hr shelling tour this year, and we will DEFINITELY be back next year!! First of all, Captain Summer was awesome. You can tell she loves her job, and she gave us such great history and info about Topsail Island and the waterways. We had about a 40 minute trip out to Lea Island, and what a nice ride it was. Relaxing and full of wildlife. Loved seeing the pelicans so close up! We stayed on Lea Island for a little over and hour, where we found a ton of great shells and did some swimming. Another wonderful 40 minute trip back to Topsail, and we loved all of it. We can't wait to come back! read more

We took the 3 hour shelling tour with 4 kids from 6 to 14. Every one of us had a blast (even the teenager). Captain Summer was a great host! She made the whole trip fun and informative. Even the safety talk was fun and engaging for little kids. They absolutely loved her stories and fun facts. Something in the water at the island stung my daughter and Captain Summer was very attentive and sweet helping to calm her down, checking her out and reassuring her that she was okay. With rambunctious kids, I had my concerns, like I do everywhere we go, but it could not have been better. read more
