The first time was to shore up some poor work done on the house before we bought it. The work was done for a good price and he and his team did a little extra work to shore up some of the small issues that would have become larger issues had we not had them come out and take care of this for us. The second time was to look at what could have been a very expensive drain issue had the worst turned out. Thought it was a collapsed line but Earl diagnosed that it more than likely was not a collapsed line. They came out and were able to fix it by pulling out a piece of small pipe that would block and unblock the line that must have been accidently dropped in main line when the bathroom was last replumbed. As long as Earl is working I know who I am going to have do all my general contracting needs.

He was there the following morning (Sunday!) , and after 3 hours of work, resolved the problem. He explained that his goal was to always leave a customer 100% satisfied , even if the problem was not related to his work. Believe it or not, he refused to take payment for his labor. I challenge you to find a contractor that meets this standard.

The builder got angry when I refused to pay the rest of the money for the sand colored tint. The color came out a shade of grade and he insisted the gray was beige. I learned my colors in Kinder. I lost my $500 deposit on that part. The workers threw trash all over the yard, even though I asked them not to and provided a garbage can. There was no receipt and no discussed warranty. Substandard work; lack of professionalism. We were naive and inexperienced and learned a lot and lost money from this negative experience. The photos don't show the faults well unfortunately. Beware of LA & J Construction!

It is VERY frustrating to work with LA & J since Luis, the owner, does not answer his phone nor…read moredoes he return text messages. His phone voicemail box is full, so you can't leave a message. He nor his crew shows up on days promised, nor does he inform you that he will not be there. We started a project with this company in July and they did a fine job on a simple project, so we added additional projects. These projects are still not finished although they were due to be completed at the beginning of September. I don't know if the crew will ever return and we will be looking for a new contractor. Our neighbors also hired LA & J on our recommendation and are experiencing the same difficulties, lack of communication, and unfinished work.

Its a hot mess!" But our house DID have potential, and we have used several contractors in our quest to make this the home we stay in forever. So when I talk abut contractors, I speak from experience. Here's what I have to say about M-Art Building Co. Absolutely a 10 out of 5 stars!!! Martin and his his whole crew are wonderful, caring people who are absolutely committed to building the most beautiful, quality structures. We could not be more pleased with our gorgeous new porch and we will be using M-Art (if they can fit us in to their schedule!) very soon to do another project. We first noticed Martin and M-Art when we were visiting some homes on the Parade Of Homes event. Martin's homes stood out from the others because of his obvious attention to detail, and the overall feeling of quality throughout the houses that M-Art had built. We decided immediately after viewing his finished product, that Martin was the guy we needed to get to help us with our house. We called M-Art and were lucky enough to get Martin interested in our projects. We began by having M-Art construct three porches on our property. All three had their own set of challenges, and all three turned out better than I could have imagined. We are SO happy! Martin and all of his crew are wonderfully talented, kind, honest, committed people to work with, even through the many hurdles that construction in these Covid times present. This is one of those few reviews I write where I'm ABSOLUTELY certain that anyone who uses this company will be glad they did. M-Art is a rare, rare find in the contracting world!

One went up on the roof immediately cutting a 6"x6" hole in my rubber membrane roofing material that is still under warranty. I was just asking for a quote to see if it's feasible for me to do what I'm hoping to do here. Then they said he cut a core sample- are you kidding? without asking??? Who cuts a hole in someone's roofing material then applies some inappropriate calking that doesn't hold and says to me, "I just cut a slit at the top near the parapet and stuck my finger in". He made all the gestures and was very clear about describing a slit. Even worse when I called them out that this is destroying my warranty she belittles me by saying it's his language barrier and he didn't want to belittle me???? Don't let these people near your roof without climbing up there with them. They think they are pretty smart but cutting a hole in someone's roof without permission is not smart. The guy that came after them to also give a quote said, just to let you know, someone cut a hole in your membrane so I took a picture of it. He was shocked they did that and he is a representative of a big roofing company. So yeah now I have photos. It's called destroying property, lying about it, excusing their behavior then bragging about how capable they are.

This company's quote fell within the range we knew roofing should be for our size of house and they told me they could fit me in by the end of the month. They supplied things the other company were going to charge for and pointed out something we didn't even know we were missing from our home but after checking into it - yes we definitely should have had all along! They did a fabulous job, worked diligently for two days and finished up the last bits of things the third day in under an hour. The roof looks fabulous and the job they did was A+. Their initial quote was given to me while they were standing there after looking at my roof and it actually came in to exactly what I was quoted in the end, which surprised me and pleased me greatly! Fantastic roof, amazing service, and every person I dealt with was kind and patient. I've already recommended them to two people who need new roofs soon!
