This is truly a community pool with lap swimming early mornings followed by water aerobics classes…read more These are well attended by a friendly group of seniors. Join in if you are here for a visit or for the season.

Meh ... great pool space and attendants although not for littles in any sort of independent way…read more(of course with them, but no place for them to be safe in super shallows with you). Locker rooms are gross and lockers are expensive and often broken anyway. Don't bother. Exercise facilities ... ok if you don't need any space to do anything and can rely on machines for your workout, and need no room to really do free weights. Stretching? Hah ... good luck. If there are more than two people trying to do anything you'll have to toss a coin for navigating the space. Also why does everyone think it's ok to stand in the stairwell and have a catch up conversation as loud as outside voices? Or converse on the phone while working out?! Track is nice. Gym space is beautiful but always filled with school groups as the schools don't have enough spaces (yay for the comm center supporting local schools but also why are they not supporting their own activities?) Staff at desk has been consistently rude or at a minimum seem annoyed you're there. I don't go anymore unless the grandkids are visiting and the weather is too sucky for beach time. It's just ... meh.

This review is only for the Tennis facility and classes, even though I know this entire recreation…read morecenter offers a variety of other activities for both children and adults. So for myself, and for health benefits, this past spring and summer I decided to start taking tennis lessons. This was to add a change to my cardio regime. Plus, I haven't played tennis in over ten years. Here's a few information: * General Facilities & Parking Lot * First of all, the campus is fairly huge. And they appear to offer everything from swimming, to tennis obviously, league sports like softball for adults, and soccer/football/lacrosse for kids. They even provide maps for certain walking trails. The parking lot accommodates mainly for the aquatics center and tennis courts. But I've yet to run into an issue with parking close to the tennis facility and softball fields. Plenty of spaces, but I'd say more crowded closer to the aquatic side. Lots of kids taking swim classes. * Babette Horenstein Tennis Center * Did I mention this facility is huge? Yeah, there's a good amount of courts. I believe about twelve in total, maybe more. The cool part is, six are indooor and six are outdoor. The indoor courts are well ventilated for the most part, but can get real hot during the summertime. As for the outdoor courts, they seasonally set up a green tent during the fall and winter, but remove it around springtime and summer. You can reserve a court, but they've got various rates. Primarily depending on your purpose (yes pickleball players are allowed), your place of residency, and a time of day. I will admit, it can be hard to reserve a court due to its popularity. * Tennis Instructors * Thus far I've had the two Brian's, a Bill, and a few others. So far so good as all of them have been excellent teachers of the game. Very knowledgeable instructors. From area positioning, to racquet grip holding, to hitting routine and feeling, it's those little tweaks and adjustments here and there that really help. They make the classes worth it! Well, that just about sums it up! Just note that local residents receive more of the benefits versus folks like myself that live "out of district." Like priority sign-ups if you're looking for a class. Regardless, I still find myself taking advantage of what they have to offer.

This used to be a great place. Just about everyone liked me. There were some trouble makers and…read moreunknown to me, they were related to staff and management. Some of the lifeguards and management didn't like me for asking them to be more safety minded when we were performing gymnastic diving. Instead, retaliation, defamation, character assassination, everything to make all the people that like me to turn against me. THPRD is not supposed to be in the business of Destroying People. It does so in a very dangerous and low life way. it uses 'hit men', staff members from somewhere else, or friends, or acquaintance to cause trouble and sabotage people's reputation in real time. THPRD needs to close down it's management team and get all new mission, not to break from the honor code like it is now breaking, and to not lie about being all inclusive when it's a party club and if you don't fit in and stay quiet, you're out and personally attacked by staff and management. Dangerous place. Do NOT go to THPRD. Did so for ten years, it is slowly crumbling to death. Get out while you can. It's too late once they get you.

It's a kids pool so unless you check the schedule be prepared for noise and kids running wild. Lockers and shower areas are open so it's not for the shy or body conscious. Have probably been to this aquatic center 7 times now. Zero times have I been allowed in the water. Either it wasn't time for my child to be in the water therefore we were turned away. Or they had changed the schedule for open swim. They will direct you their website! You are a business. Most businesses keep the same hours. Not excluding some patrons for others. Oh and it's like the only place to swim for a 20 mile radius. Why make it so hard on your patrons to use your facilities. Seems super counter productive. It's city funded. But there are still dues and fees associated with the gym. Seems wild to used the peoples tax's and dollars and then make it almost impossible them to swim. Also they some dumb rule about 2 children per adult! So don't go if you happen to be a single parent with more than 2 kids. Heaven forbid your children want to use the facilities for which you pay.

And sometimes too hot from the heat when it's cold out. So temperature control is a negative. My other negative is when you take classes, or have your kids in classes there, you can't choose the teacher. I totally get that they don't want people basing enrollment on a teacher, but for things like gymnastics and dance, teachers spend the first few weeks JUST assessing kids for their ability and skill level. That wouldn't be necessary if they knew the kids already. So please allow us to choose teachers!! The positive: even though we can't choose teachers, we have NEVER had a bad teacher for the kids. My daughter had been taking classes here for a year now and we have loved them all. Every teacher genuinely cares for the kids and my kids have had a blast. I love being able to do gymnastics and dance here without the super competitive nature that the academies push. I LOVE the playground here. It's amazing. So much fun for big and little kids alike. They do have separate toddler and "big kid" play structures, but no one really minds which is which. The kids just play! I LOVE THPRD and Cedar Hills Rec. Definitely have a great set of people here!

Family fun and worry/sunburnt-free!…read more These days I'm all about finding that perfect balance between work, spending time with loved ones, while enjoying activities. That's why I'm obsessed with this new find in the Southwest community! This neighborhood community center has cool activities like two indoor pools. One is designated for laps- 9 feet deep and the other includes a wading pool with slide, up to 4 ft and 6 inches at the deepest. I also love that there is a shower and lockers open for use so you can clean up before heading to the pool. The kids seem to absolutely love it - there are tons of other families with little ones. Open pool time is ~ 2-4pm, go early so you can get in. There's a capacity limit, our visit happened to be 75. If want to make it, BE THERE EARLY. Can not stress this enough. It is not the staff's fault if you can not get in. There are standards for a reason. You do not want to be cooped up in a space where it can not accommodate for more than what's expected. You also want to keep in mind that there are lifeguards to look out for everyone's safety and well being, so please be mindful of that as well! There are also other parts of the center to enjoy, such as an indoor basketball gym, rollerskating sessions, aqua aerobics, gym, and even dancing. It's the perfect blend of family-friendly fun and adult-approved relaxation. If you're looking for a place with a strong sense of community, stunning scenery, and a pool that's basically its own mini-vacation destination, then this is your spot! Totally recommend it! P.S. If you ever see me poolside with a noodle in hand, say hi! I'm learning how to swim - and it's fun to make some friends while we're at it!
