Great spot to enjoy lots of outdoor activities. They (the county park system) recently upped the fees to camp , making , for example, Fort Stevens less expensive. I e-mailed the park director about some reservation issues and NEVER got a response except an auto-answer that someone would get back to me in a few days. That was over a week ago. Anyway, it's still a reasonable deal and lots to do. The new webpage is a little worse to navigate through but it can be done. One can also call and make a reservation. Still a very nice place. read more

Let me start with the good: The campsites tend to be generous when compared to many campsites at Oregon State and Federal campgrounds in OR with regard to size of campsite, although some barely have room for a single tent when they are advertised to accommodate two. The campsites also tend to be flat and kept clean. The campgrounds also offer great access to a long and wide beach, whose access has multiple points of entry at the western edge of the campground. The beach is fairly isolated so it provides great solitude and an opportunity for a long beach walk with calm seas. The campsite is also well located to provide access to the Tillamook and Cape Lookout area to the south and Oswald SP and Cannon Beach area to the north. Now the bad: For a campsite with well over 200 campsites and rv sites (which translates into probably more then 500 guests when full), the number of shower stalls available is woefully inadequate : I believe 12. When I have stayed at the campsite, there has been a line waiting outside of the shower stalls, which means waiting outside in an uncovered area, to use them - this is something that is inexcusable and shows a tremendous lack of concern for a woefully inadequate level of providing a fundamental service the campground says they provide. My other beef the campground can do nothing about: all night long a bouy toots a horn about every ten seconds to warn wayfairers of land proximity - this horns intrusion on one's sleep and the tranquility of the camping experience as one's campsite is located closer to the beach. However, the horn is heard throughout the campground. In summary, I find many other campsites more desirable along the Oregon Coast, but this one suffices as long as you are a heavy sleeper and do not mind not showering or waiting to do the same, read more

This review is based on a campground and not a 5 star hotel. The good: Online reservation was quick and easy. Check-in was easy even though we had to cancel one campsite due to people dropping out last minute. Staff had us go check which spot we liked better before checking us in. Showers and restrooms available. Campsite was clean. Beach access was close to site. Check-out was at 1:30pm. -Park hosts were there but didn't get in our way. Considerations for some: - Check-in is at 3:30pm. -Bathroom and showers are not sparkly clean. -Porta-pottys can get full and run out of TP. -There are large rings are the firepits. For us, this helped our anxiety with the kiddos getting too close. -Coyotes are around but leave you alone. read more

We showed up with no reservation and were happy to find 15-20 open sites. Many are well shaded and had low trees and brush to help provide some privacy. Definitely a lot of spots that did not have this, as well. RV camping was a giant parking lot. No thanks! Nice playground, showers and bathrooms fairly clean, and excellent beach within an easy walk. We'll be back, but def be selective about the site you pick. The back loop was our fav! read more

this is the third time I stayed at this campground. The first two were awesome. This last time was horrible. There was a very aggressive, older host gentleman who was aggressive, screaming, and yelling because I had parked in an area closer to our cabin when we were loading up to leave. I am an older single woman with my young granddaughter, his attitude and demeanor was totally uncalled for and very scary. I was not allowed to explain or even agree to move. Some "genius" talked the boss into re-doing the reservation webpage and actually got paid to make it worse? Campground is very nice but the new website/page for reservations is very poor. It will automatically choose a site for you and you have to do some inventive tricks to find another site. Nothing like their easier, old, website which was much easier to use. Family friendly setting.The cabins looked really cozy and I would love to stay in one some time. We have stayed there numerous times and enjoyed it but this last weekend will probably be the last, all was good, bathroom decent, showers don't use quarters anymore. Always a very busy campground. The reason we won't stay there again is they changed the fire rings and they are way to high and when there is a fire you can't enjoy it unless you are sitting right next to it or standing up and with a group of people that is not possible. 50% of camping is sitting next to the fire telling stories watching the fire and when you can't see it and all you see is this rusty 2 foot high ring with smoke coming out and not even feeling any of the heat from the fire it becomes pretty pointless to have a at all. They sell wood at the campground $8 a bundle you would have to use 2 bundles just to get the flames high enough to enjoy for 15 minutes. Last time! read more

Pros: Sites seem pretty spacious and the campground layout for tent sites naturally offers a surprising amount of site separation and shrub/tree cover. Tons of awesome hammock trees in many of the sites! Tent sites are all just a quick under 5 min walk to the beach. Thankfully, it seems like they may have taken the hint from other reviewers because the bathrooms were pretty tidy for the duration of my stay. Cons: You have to use a quarter pay machine for the showers and you can't adjust the water temp. Dumb. Would stay again and would recommend. read more

I used to like this campsite. It has always been a little dirty and difficult to get a reservation. Once, I even found dog sh*t in one of the sites I rented. The showers are smelly and dirty but over all I thought it was OK for a campsite, until recently. I made a reservation on May 10th. On May 13th, the funds for the reservation were withdrawn from my account. On May 20th, I canceled my reservation. At that time I was told it would be 7 - 14 days, maybe even 30 day to receive my refund (BS) It doesn't take that Long to get to a refund especially when they took the reservation money from my account within 72 hours. After 30 days of waiting, I called the reservation department, and Brandy, whom I spoke with, told me she would get the refund issued right away. 7 days later, there is no refund. I had to call the reservations department again and had no luck, then I called and left voice mails for all but 1 of the Tillamook County Commissioners and informed them of the situation. None of which responded except maybe to call the reservations department and told them to get this fixed. Then I got a call from Brandy who did ot even remember me from the first time qw spoke because she had to ask me all my info again, reservation number, full name, to issue the refund. She already had this information from when I called the week before. The refund has been issued on Thursday, June 27th, 37 days late. Only the authorization was issued to my bank, which means the funds have not been issued, and now I have to wait another 5 - 10 business days to receive my money that is already 37 days late. All of the parks department are responsible for this fuckup. They know that they are responsible and they just don't care. The tourists are the people who keep the parks going and keep them in a job, and they don't care. All of them need to be fired, then arrested and tried as traitors to this country becaus3 all they are doing is stealing from the tourists and the citizens of Tillamook County. I say this because I will never travel to Tillamook County again, I will never buy tillamook made products ever again (I.E. Tillamook cheese, ice cream, Tillamook County smoker meats, or anything that comes from Tillamook. I ask all that to review this post to do the same thing. Stop the money from going to that county, and maybe the politicians will realize they need to make a change immediately. read more

First time camper here. So pros: campsites are large, we had plenty of room for the huge amount of people we camped with. There is a ton to do nearby so kids are easily occupied. We had Rockaway Beach, the fun and huge sand dunes (which has a great sunset view at the top,) and the campsite itself to entertain the kiddos. Cons: the bathrooms aren't super clean. The campsite is loud. We had LOTS of noise from other campers partying and then at 5-5:30 in the morning we had kids riding bikes through our campsite. Not much respect for other campers. The shower does have hot water. But it isn't steady. You get SUPER hot (almost scalding water,) that then goes tepid, then warm then ice cold. And it fluctuates the entire time. It was a decent campground but I won't pay to shower there again. read more

Re: Aug. 10, 2021 We left Barview Jetty Campground (and dreamy site #U15 on the corner with direct beach access) after getting kicked out today. Long story having to do with a bunch of covid fallout: understaffed, mismanaged, government jobs, etc. It certainly didn't need to be as dramatic an exit as I made it, but I most likely had just the right amount of PMS to nail any well-meaning but slightly annoying little yip of a twenty-something to the wall with very little to go on. It happens to the best of us. I'm not proud. It was already obvious that we needed to pack up and leave - and we were doing just that - even though we were mistakenly told several times earlier that it was a "no reservation'' site and if we were the lucky ones to snag it, we could have it. But Melissa - in her official blazing yellow Parks and Rec polo shirt came over to "have a chat" with me. She didn't need to rub it in. But she did. Just before 3:00pm check in, someone had come over and marked our site with a tag reading, "Reserved for Wessel Aug. 11-14". Apparently some people have the wherewithal to reserve campsites in advance and, well, I guess maybe we conduct our camping business slightly more... Casually. We were plain lucky to just show up and stumble on this site as it was. So, Melissa - in all of her twenty-something flair, demanded, "who told you that you could stay here? Describe them!" And against my better judgement I did describe those very kind and well-meaning folks because I chose to cover my own ass and make sure she knew we weren't lying about getting permission to stay there, we are rule followers after all. I certainly didn't want to throw anyone under the bus and it made me feel bad about myself to call them out, which then made me feel like punching her in her perky little mouth. Listen, can we give a little value to the employees who choose to stay and work through a pandemic? Why you gotta be the smartass on your soapbox curtly assuring me that you'll be sure to "have a talk with them." As if that will solve any of our problems. We're still out of a campsite late in the day on the nose of a Portland heatwave and now three different camp hosts are going to get reamed on my behalf - even though they're probably doing the jobs of a dozen people each and, I'm sure, the very best they can with the limited resources they have. Melissa. With all of the power and knowledge of every twenty-something who ever came before her, who will personally see to righting their wrongs. Pshhh. Go away. Come back when your metabolism skids into the pothole where pasta dinners go to die and you're not mooching off your parents health insurance anymore and then we can "have a chat." But we tucked our tails and fled Barview Jetty Campground on our friend Melissa's parting words, "and make sure it's clean!" And, well, we did, because that's what we do, those poor Wessel's didn't deserve to arrive at a messy campsite because of my little PMS meltdown. Awesome Beach Campgrounds... This campground is huge. We drove all over checking out other sites. Single and Large Tent Size Sites. Plenty of RV Sites. They even had Cabins. We had 2 Sites. We could have easily had all three 12' X 10' Tents on 1 Site. For an additional $8.00. You can request another Picnic Table. Bathrooms with flushing toilets. Showers too. $0.50 for 4 minutes. My niece Sammy loved the Playground. The beach was a bit of a walk as we were on the opposite side of the campgrounds. Plenty of beach access but not a lot of parking. We all really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. read more

What remains the same is the location, close to the beach and all the things fun about the beach. Nice campground, close to the beach, beautiful tent spots, clean. But, overpriced, extra payments for almost everything; even showers, which are free on every other $21/night camping spot along the coast I have been to between Florence and Astoria. Staff in the booth is napping with their head on the table in early afternoon, doesn't bother to get up and support his co-worker struggling with the reservation system. Toilet paper is on lockdown with a metal bar and a padlock that doesn't allow the toilet paper roll to spin. Hard work to get the toilet paper off the roll. Couldn't find a sink water disposal, so we found a lot of food scraps and waste under the water spigots. Overall, we had a nice stay, very quiet in early June. The volunteers and camp hosts are very nice and are doing a great job maintaining the camp sites clean and welcoming. Thank you. read more

RUNNING WATER) due to covid because it would require "cleaning to reduce the transmission of covid", but installed a pay meter for daily access to obtain their new 10 dollar fee that LITERALLY every person must touch....and thats acceptable. We stayed here for 2 nights and it was super great for most of our stay. The campsite I had booked ended up being way too small for our new large tent and they helped us get a new campsite and were extremely helpful and kind. When we were packing up to leave one of the rangers or employees driving around on the golf cart came by and asked us if we're coming in or leaving. We told him leaving. (It had just poured and our stuff was a lot messier than we've had to deal with before) it was taking us a bit longer to clean up but it was only 20-30 mins past Check out. We always leave our campsite clean and 0 trash. We even left some wood for the next people. But this guy in a really condescending tone says "we'll check out is 1:30" as we're literally putting the last item into our car. We talked to another lady in the bathroom and she said a lady did the same thing to her. read more

Wife and I camp here a lot in the winter months, so it is a 5 star then but the summer months it is a 2 star for us. We enjoy peace and quiet, the sounds of the ocean and associated fog horns, the caw of the crows and the scurry of squirrels and chipmunks. In the winter it is cold and rainy which keeps the typical loud, partying, screaming kids(I wouldn't ever change that as camping and kids were meant for each other, I just try to avoid them if possible) monster RVers, fast drivers, etc. down to a minimum. The sites themselves vary in tree cover, privacy and size so we have surveyed all and ranked them so when we reserve, we have a reference if our favorite sites are not available. In the winter I would guess only a third of the campgrounds are available as they close down most of the north sections. The staff have always been helpful about which sites are the best and can make suggestions based on the type of camper you are, and what you like. And yes as others have pointed out, this place is on the pricey side. But its nice to have flushing toilets and hot showers if you stay for more than a couple of days. read more

This campground is HUGE! After touring the Tillamook factory, we drove in without a reservation and the kind man at the front helped us find a great spot. For RVs, there are pull through and back in spots with full amenities. The map helped us find fun around the campground in the form of playgrounds, walking paths, and several ways to get to the beach. Our RV neighbors were kind and mostly pretty quiet. All in all, a great quick stop on during our trip North. read more

The campground is beautiful and clean. Unfortunately due to Covid all Tillaook County campground showers are closed. This makes it hard to feel refreshed after a day on the beach. The camp host is nice and the Barview Jetty store is close and they have everything you need. The only.other down side is there needs to be more water spouts for access to water. Some of the restrooms were closed and port a potties were in the middle.of campsites so you literally had to disturb someone to use it. Probably much better once Covid precautions are scaled back and the park is fully staffed. read more

Absolutely delightful! Is my first time here, we camped for two nights. The check in was extremely slow and painful so just lower your expectations and you might be surprised! The staff is friendly and absolutely does their best so I had no problems with anything like that. Your site will not include electricity or water if you are tent camping. There are general water faucets placed around the grounds and you can collect water as needed. You have to pay for showers! If you don't want to relax at all 50 Cent should be just fine but if you're somebody with extremely long hair or extra curves like me then go ahead and spoil yourself with 75 cents, you are worth it! This place has plenty of options for family fun, a cool feature for kids or adults who want to push themselves can go to the sand hill! It's extremely steep, but provides plenty of fun for anybody interested in challenging themselves physically with no apparent reward, Grab some cardboard or a lid from a tote and slide down that baby at high-speed. If you are in large group and looking for a sites I definitely would recommend P1 or p5, each site will allow a maximum of three tents And these two sites in particular are directly in contact so you could potential have a large family or a gathering of up to 6 tents and be able to have two picnic tables touching and no separation! Perfect for a family get together! The tent sites do not allow much privacy at all so definitely be polite and don't interrupt your neighbors. Quiet hours on the facility are from 10 PM to 7 AM. The camping sites are not close to the beach. Each time we walk to the beach it was about 10 minutes walk each time. The highlight of the beach it's the jetty, which is a man-made structure and there plenty of opportunities to explore. The beach itself is clean, plenty of sanded area to spread out with your family or friends. The jetty does have warning signs, there are crosses marking where other people have passed away, The jetty is fun To explore but certainly is not for playing. You can walk out to the end point, snaps some photos of seals, listen to the horn, gorgeous sunset view but be careful on all the uneven rocks. read more

It's so hard to find an available campground in the evening on the fly, but I found one here! Enough room between campgrounds to offer some privacy & quiet. The woman who checked me in was all smiles, & let me choose from a myriad of available sites. My site was a brief walk to the beach, where I watched the sky turn to a deep blue in the dusk. During rush hours, maybe they can have 2 employees in taking people?, but I cannot complain, the park employees were amicable, efficient, & helpful. read more

The RV section of this Campground has the spaces so close together that it's more like a gravel parking lot. The spots are so close together that your fire pit is within 5 feet of your neighbors sewer drain. Disgusting. The tent camping areas at least have some space between them and trees to block the wind. The RV portion is windy all the time as there is no Forest space between each site. read more

This is a good place. Stayed here for a couple of nights over spring break weekend. All the state parks were full but there were plenty of places here. The bathroom was spotless, nice campsites although maybe not as private as some (stayed in v15). Pretty close walk to a nice, flat beach. Picked a bunch of mussels off the jetty. Crabbing at Garibaldi is 5 minutes away. We had dogs and nobody hassled us. I would definitely stay here again. read more

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights camping in tents. On the map it shows blue circles which are larger campsites and orange circles which are smaller campsites. We stayed in one of the smaller ones which was actually big enough to accommodate two to three tents. ( we had a large tent and a small tent. There's six of us in the family and it was a perfect) There are showers which are coin-operated you can get a decent shower for 2 quarters if you've got long hair to shampoo you might want 4 quarters. There is a change machine which on the second day we were there it broke. Campfires are allowed. There's a playground our kids enjoyed. My campsite was V-22 it was up in the dunes. If you don't like the morning sun coming over the hill don't get it otherwise it was a great campsite. read more

This county campground and RV park is vast. Countless tent sites in all direction surround 5 long rows of RV sites with full hookups. The beach and jetty are within easy walking distance. Sites are well maintained, with plenty of camp hosts spread out throughout all the sites. We found this campground to be the perfect base for easy day trips to the north (Nehalem, Manzanita, CannonBeach), or to the south (Tillamook, Oceanside, etc.). We even made quick trip on the 6 east into Portland and back, a beautiful drive through the Tillamook State Forest. Barview is a popular park, and can get noisy on weekends, but all in all a great place to park while exploring the stunning local coast and parks. read more

A group of ladies and I decided to have a girl's camping trip to the coast, and we booked a spot about a month or two ahead of time. We weren't sure of the layout of the camp ground or what to expect. We did want to be fairly close to the beach and somewhat near the facilities. We picked J12. When we rolled up to the campsite, we weren't super excited, it seemed kind of shallow. We moved the table around, about five different times, before we figured out the best configuration for our two tents, chairs, and two vehicles. Oh! And our hammock. After we got things situated, the site felt better. We stayed two nights, friday thru sunday. For being a fairly large camp ground, it was not nearly as noisy as one would have thought. Firewood is $6 at the ranger station, and $4.99 at fred meyer's in Tillamook. So, really, its a moot point to drive to fred meyer's since you would be using the money saved on gas instead. If we camp here again, we'd probably find a different site, one a little more roomy. read more

I'd heard good things about Barview Jetty Campground, so I was expecting a different experience than the one we had. I guess I've been spoiled with State parks though? Here was my experience: I LOVED the site. Our site was S7 and it was very spacious, and somewhat private considering that the campground is huge and it was packed. It's conveniently located near a water spigot, showers, and restrooms. I was disappointed to find that there were several pieces of broken glass and bottle caps strewn about our camp. We were camping with our pup, so I spent quite a bit of time picking up the glass to ensure that he wouldn't get cut. The noise. Quiet hour is definitely not quiet here. At all. Our neighbors, who were actually two sites away, played their music until three in the morning. LOUD. Really really loud. We'd been told prior to booking that the sites closer to the beach were the "party" sites, so I'd booked a site further back since we were looking for a more low key experience. There was a lot of noise other than just the neighbor's music. At about midnight someone set off fireworks. There was a lot of yelling and singing. Did I mention that it was loud? Also, be prepared to hear the bouy warning horn. All night long. It never stopped the entire time we were there. The bathrooms are what you can expect from a campground. I was a little surprised that every time I went into one, however, it was dirty. The trash was always full or over flowing. There was toilet paper on the floor, and lots of hair in the sink. The showers are coin operated. If you forget your quarters at home there are change machines located outside of the showers. The beach is phenomenal. It is a very very beautiful location. We got some stunning pictures of the sunset and moon-rise from the beach. There are lots of fishing and crabbing opportunities. The location to the beach was my favorite part of this campground. You can purchase firewood onsite, however, there are larger bundles available for the same price at the store on the corner, just outside of the entrance to the park. read more

They have got to be kidding...a tent site is $38 for the first night and $27 for every additional night! RVs are $43 the first night and $32 for each additional night! Oh, and there's an $11 registration fee as well!! On top of the tent/RV fee, which is the steepest campground fee we've found in Oregon so far, they charge almost $6 per pet you bring, and that's to say nothing of the fees for additional tents AND cars ($5 extra for a second car is normal, but another $8 for a second tent?? This place is absolutely ridiculous, and I can see why they were so empty. With two people, two dogs, one car and a tent we were looking at almost $60 for one night!! Do yourself a favor and continue on because you can find excellent camping for $15 a night with no extra fees by heading a bit northwest and checking out some of the smaller spots. read more

With the fees and taxes it was $37.83 for one night. We were able to fit our RV on a tent site (no hook ups). The bathroom was a far walk. But I loved the store walking distance from the park entrance that sold Tillamook ice cream!!!!! It is about a 15/20 min walk from one end (with the entrance) of the campground to the other end with the beach. The beach was huge and dogs are allowed on leash! After watching the sunset on the beach, I walked back to our site at 9 pm and could not believe how quiet the campground was! All of the rows and rows of RVs were silent! This was on July 3 and the campground was full. I am so grateful that we were able to stay there! read more
