I can no longer do a lot of things I could before which prevented me from getting additional work when I needed it most. I was forced to apply for a settlement loan in which the lawyer promptly declined since he had to sign off of the paperwork, yet they don't give loans to struggling clients. I was forced to settle for an amount way less than what I should have gotten considering the complete change that will affect me for the rest of my life. My lawyer knew my struggles and everything I dealt with from the beginning. When I settled, these lawyers got almost as much money as I did, which was completely insane to me. No morals whatsoever. Saying you care about your clients and actually showing you care about your clients are two totally different things. Not much effort seemed to be put into negotiating with the insurance or with the lien holders. Not to mention they gave me a settlement amount initially that did not include a huge lien but blurted out in a later conversation like it was nothing that they forgot to mention my settlement would be almost $20,000 less than what they told me it would be. If I could go back in time I would not have used Riesen Durant. It is a decision I will regret for the rest of my life.

This review is long but worth it. I want to start by saying that I originally did not hire this…read morefirm. I was injured in an accident in SC but lived out of state so in the midst of trying to recover, I simply asked a few people for a referral and they suggested another firm. I was told by others that I should get a lawyer simply because it would make it easier on me as they would handle communications with bills etc. and take things off my plate. I do not want to go into too many details on that firm as this is not their review but my experience with them was absolutely horrible. I felt like my case was going to end poorly and I felt like I had no control over that, despite the fact I was killing myself trying to heal and trying to do deal with them. I even had doctors call me directly, refusing to deal with my lawyer there, because of his unprofessionalism. As luck or fate would have it, thankfully someone at that firm asked David Yarborough to step in to see if he could help on my case. For no extra charge to me. I can never put into words how much I owe to David and his team, as well as a 3rd firm that stepped in. After the very first introduction, I called my friend crying because I could tell that I finally had someone who very clearly knew what they were doing. Shortly after, I was introduced to the rest of his team and their empathy, professionalism, and kindness, was overwhelming after not having that for over 3 years. They continually reminded me that my focus should be on healing, that it should not be on the case. They also never made me feel like I had to prove my injury. I would like to specifically call out Cait, the paralegal I dealt with, as her compassion was everything. When I would mention how incredible it was that they were so kind and actually treated me like a person, Cait told me that they all had done specific trainings and team exercises to make sure they focused on the clients needs, including the impact trauma has on mental health. That it was important to them that they showed that in their actions. Cait talked to me often to calm and reassure me, including supporting my faith in God, the morning before court. She is not only great at her job, but is a beautiful, kind person; inside and out. I also know the stereotypes that come with lawyers and despite being INCREDIBLY good at what they do and being very successful; never once did David or Reynolds show up with their ego in the way, or treat me as less than them. I dealt directly with them, not some gatekeeper, and they showed the action Cait mentioned above. They were "regular" relatable guys, who cared deeply about what they do and their clients. They hugged and held me when I was crying after court and never shamed me for being emotional. I am writing this because I cannot recommend them enough and they changed my life. Not just because of the result of my case, but because of how they treated me. They probably will never understand how badly I needed that at the time and I am forever thankful.

After suffering through an accident, that was not my fault, and going through rehab every single day for a month and half and still suffer to this day. In my opinion, that "care" was short lived very quickly. The lawyer I was assigned drug my case out for 1 1/2 years and went through 4 paralegals causes so much miscommunications and multiple request for the same information requested. That lawyer wasn't even there long either. When I called back 8 months later, he had already left. After all was said and done (1 year later and I did not have the energy to deal with them any longer), I sat and wrote the following e-mail to just explain my feelings of my entire experience... Dear Mr. Thurmond, My name is Keith. I was previously a client with your firm under xxxx. It has been a year since settling my case and I decided to wait until the dust settled and I had a clearer and less angry perception while under Xxxx's care. I am not writing you today to request anything from your firm but to say that I was so totally unsatisfied with the representation I received. Not only did I have to deal with 4 paralegal changes under Xxxx during my tenure under his "care", but given wrong information from one (that I believe caused her to be released) and affected my case, but repeatedly asked for identical documentation on numerous occasions. My frustration at times with xxxx (and I am a very patient man) caused me to contact you personally, via e-mail concerning them. After facing my physical issues for 1 1/2 years, the opposing attorney made an offer to me that would pay all my bills. In the end, I accepted the offer, paid my bills, paid your firm and walked away with such a small amount of funds that is to help me with my future medical needs. To this day I suffer greatly. I realize that you and your firm is in the business of making money and possibly my situation wasn't what would bring in big dollars.
