We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese. They were perfectly toasted and there was plenty of spreadable cream cheese. It made for a perfect light lunch. I don't eat eggs, so it did limit my options. If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

While I haven't had the opportunity to try the entire menu just yet, I can say confidently the home fries live up to the hype. I understand why they're called home fries because they reminded me of home. It looks like they're doing some renovation on the second floor, I wonder if that'll result in even more seating. If that's the case then it'll take this cafe to the next level.

Also looking at their seasonal drinks my wife and I knew we needed to stop in. Plenty of street parking available right nearby so unless they are super busy you should be good. Once you walk in they had a board sign with all the seasonal specials. It was quite a large space with a good amount of seating with some more comfy seating like the couch and then plenty of tables too. Near where you order they have a baked good display with the daily offerings from a I suspect local bakery. They do appear to offer breakfast sandwiches but only on the weekend. Baked goods wise my wife grabbed a blueberry muffin and I grabbed some sort of apple cinnamon roll. Drink wise my wife got their Pumpkin S'more Steamer and I got the Loganberry Cobbler Cold Brew. My cinnamon roll was delicious, while my wife's muffin was not that great and didn't taste that fresh unfortunately. Drink wise both were phenomenal! My wife's even came topped with a homemade marshmallow and my had a great amount of flavor of a fruit that I am not use to seeing (popular in this area though and I can see why). Besides seasonal they also have all the drinks you'd expect from a coffee shop. Absolute no brainer to stop here if you are from the Potsdam area or visiting or even traveling through. If I were local to the area this would be my go to coffee shop!

The only complaint I can think of is if you show up between 11:30am and 12:30pm, there is a good chance the line will be backed out the door. On this particular occasion I made it right around 11:30 am and I only had 4 people in front of me in line. The bakery is run by the same two people day in and day out, Rob and Anna. They can come off a bit standoffish at first but nothing could be further from the truth. Rob spoke to all 4 people ahead of me and even knew some of them by name and things going on in their lives. On this visit I had a cup of Chicken Gumbo and a Turkey Sandwich. The Gumbo was full of sausage and veggies and had a nice flavour to it. The sandwiches however really are the star of the show here as Chuck pointed out. The bread was so fresh it was still warm. And the turkey piled about 3 inches thick. I opted to add cheddar cheese for the bargain price of $0.50 bringing the price to $6 for the soup and sandwich. An unbelievable bargain! Not only would I recommend Riley's bakery but would consider it a necessary stop if you visit Cornwall. You won't be disappointed.

I'm a fan of Di Rienzo in Ottawa and so I knew I would be hard to satisfy. This place is tha bomb! The bread is so good, a little touch of sweet in it, the owner is funny and diligent. Great dessert as well! If they were open at night I would be there twice a week!
