We have had prior and current experiences at two other nearby gymnastics gyms, and recently switched to Tiltons for more focus on floor and acrobatics work. Tilton's has been an incredible experience for my daughter and I've been unbelievable BLOWN AWAY, by the switch. The coaches at Tiltons are so talented and good role models. They strike a perfect balance between being supportive and firm, ensuring safety while pushing students to improve. Their attention to detail is remarkable, and they focus on building strong foundations that set gymnasts up for success. They are really great at noticing even the smallest modification that needs to be made, and taking the time to work on that with each student. Despite larger class sizes, the 3-5 coaches provide plenty of attention, and are able to provide one on one support as needed. It's a lively atmosphere with individualized attention making the sessions both productive and fun. My child is not only developing physically but also learning the value of hard work and perseverance. My 9yo daughter tried gymnastics elsewhere when she was quite a bit younger and didn't love it and didn't want to try it again until she went to a holiday party at Tilton's. She has loved gymnastics lessons at Tilton's- even opting to miss other sport practices to go to gymnastics. She isn't the most flexible and gymnastics isn't easy for her but she likes that the skills are broken down into steps that make more sense for her. After her first intro class she told me she was excited that she could learn how to do things she didn't think she could ever do. It is floor only and not competitive. Another bonus is that they teach skills for both sides (left and right) which I think is good for brain development. read more

My nine-year-old daughter goes to this studio and she absolutely loves it! She loves the teachers and absolutely adores teacher Lori. STAY AWAY!!! I booked my daughter 3x's times and every time someone else was booked. After my nanny took my daughter twice and there was another child booked I called and confronted the owner. The first the time I spoke with her she kind and understanding and promised she would book my daughter on this Thursday 11/19/2020. My nanny took her the 3rd time and another girl with the same name was there. I called the owner and left a frustrated message and she called me back YELLING at the top of her lungs. Literally, the most unprofessional conversation I've ever experienced. I recorded it. Truly unbelievable. Look at other reviews with the same poor experience with the owner. Below is further documentation. Please don't send your child to this place. My daughter has been in tears now 3 times over this businesses negligence. Please patronize elsewhere. I rec'd a confirmation on website that the class was finalized each time. Why would I send my nanny if I didn't get confirmation. Below is from Tilton's Hi Gianna. Yep. I actually know what happened. Our system logs activity including what happens in the parent portal. You logged in on 10/21 (#2 in pic) and added a private lesson for 10/29 an checked out. They system has recorded the enrollment. The on 11/1 (See #1 in the pic) you had an incorrect password then tried again and got in. However that's where you stopped. On the back end I can see that you added the classes to the cart but never checked out. I bet that after you added the classes you stepped away from the computer and at that point our software cleared your cart with no enrollment. My daughter has wanted to sharpen her tumbling skills and Tilton's has been the best place for her to do that. The owner and her student teachers are skilled and knowledgeable. They run a tight ship so each student not only learns the proper technique in a safe environment but can enhance and advance in their skills. My daughter knows her tumbling coaches are all work during class and then all play once class is over and when she hears "great job" her smile lights up the room. I love how much she has been challenged to work hard for what she wants and encouraged to have fun while doing it. This season of covid shutdowns has been hard for us all, but my girl cannot wait for the doors of Tilton's to open again!! We'll be there when they do!! read more

This is a good environment for the youth gymnast who wishes to hone their post-novice tumbling skills. True beginners may find themselves a little rushed or out of their depth, and those expecting lessons which include traditional equipment will not find that opportunity here --at this writing, this is strictly your kid vs the mat. The instructors are enthusiastic, and their demonstrations are inspiring. The format of class is explanation, demonstration, split into groups for individual attempt & instruction by turns, switch instructors, repeat, repeat for next technique. The pace is brisk, and the kids are kept attentive. This pace is either a stregth or a weakness, depending on your child's pre-existing skill level. Our daughter was an enthusiastic, green rookie, age 7. She struggled to digest the jargon, and seemed rushed through the line at times. For instance, while practicing a somersault, the instructor advised her to "tighten up" when perhaps phrasing it more specifically as "tuck your chin down like this" would've gotten through better. However, more experienced students were undeniably thriving and being encouraged to reach for the next step. Bottom line: for experienced students, this is a good, specialized environment where they'll likely benefit. For beginners, it's a bit sink-or-swim, and may not suit everyone. read more

The class was led by the owner with the help of younger assistant teachers. I will say that my child really liked the assistant teachers who were encouraging and clearly good gymnasts themselves. Unfortunately, the owner herself was the reason we left. We found her to be abrasive and rude to both her staff and other parents. I ended up withdrawing my child from the program following a difficult interaction with the owner. We learned from other parents that they had very similar negative interactions where they felt the owner was disrespectful and rude. I would not feel comfortable leaving my child in her class without being there to observe to make sure she didn't treat my child the way she seems to treat other people. read more

Tilton's offers private lessons for adults! My sister and I wanted to take cartwheel lessons as neither of us have ever been able to do one. We were expecting it to be an awkward experience but Lori made it unbelievably fun! As soon as we walked in the door, Lori made us feel welcome and comfortable. My son has been with Tilton's Gymnastics for 6 months now, and it is far and away the best "lesson" experience we've had with either of our children. The instructors have an amazing rapport with the children. They are clear about instructions and firm about the boundaries they set for safety, while being incredibly enthusiastic, supportive, and energetic. The demonstrations are high-energy, the corrections are gentle and effective. I really appreciate the structure of the classes. Each class works on four or five techniques. First the teachers demonstrate the technique with clear instructions. Then they split the kids into small groups - usually with two teachers each. Each child gets a chance to work on the technique (with huge amounts of encouragement from the teachers), then they move either the kids or the coaches so that each child gets to work with each teacher. After they've worked on the techniques a bit, the teachers demonstrate the more advanced techniques so the kids can see what they are working toward. So, the kids go from practicing a backbend to seeing their teachers demonstrate each of the next techniques until one is doing handsprings across the floor and their little eyes light up as they see what they could do. At the end of each class, each student gets to demonstrate one technique for the whole group during "Special Time", and everyone responds with hugs and claps and high fives. The success of Tilton's comes down to a great program and even better staff. We love them! read more

I had my daughters attend a class, and it was great. The teachers taught well and were very attentive. The problem is, their website is called Tilton Gymnastics, so I thought it was gymnastics. It's not. It's just a floor--no vault, bars or beam. After this first class, I went home and scoured the website to see if I missed something--but I cannot find anywhere where the website states it is only floor. I called the owner to see if I could get a refund on the remaining classes, and she refused. She said that the classes are named "floor only." Still can't find that phrase on the website after 20 minutes of looking. Nor could the owner tell me where to click to find that description. If you just want floor, this place is great. If you want GYMNASTICS, look elsewhere. read more

We bought two Groupons so our kids could try out gymnastics. The facility was very nicely decorated and everything seemed fine. But between the complete and utter lack of organization, the owner criticizing the poor instructors (who were clearly overwhelmed and doing their best) in front of everyone, and letting her own child run rampant and disrupt every class, it was a very awkward and unpleasant experience. We went twice, hoping the second time would be better... But ultimately we couldn't bring ourselves to even finish out the one month of classes we paid for. read more

Not a bad place. It's like I rated it........ it's only OK. This gym specializes in acrobatics and tumbling. Not your typical gymnastics program. The girls are grouped according to their ability and sessions can last from one to two hours depending on skill level. As you progress through the levels, more difficult concepts and moves are introduced. The owners and head instructors are enthusiastic and the girl's are motivated to try more difficult moves which boosts their confidence. My daughter was in this program until she injured her ankle, which has yet to heal. That was over two months ago. I understand in any sport that injuries are a part of the equation. But in this one instance, it could have been avoided because she was doing a tumbling move and the spotter did not "spot" correctly and my daughter landed awkwardly on her ankle. I could tell something was wrong because my daughter never complains and she wanted to take a break after the landing. If you want to boost a person's confidence, make sure you have spotters that are confident, capable, and know what they are doing. read more
