We didn't get the optimal customer service experience. There was a baked goods display, empty and off to the side, so no obvious food options. Overall, it's an airy space. The seating in the front window is nice, however the counter is breaking. A bit of a rework there would be ideal. My visit was A-OK, a three star visit, but nothing special.

While the food is similar across locations, they all feature some twists and different weekly specials.... And this is what really got us in to Milky Way this week.... On my first of two visits, there seemed to be a lot of cruise ship passengers, just relaxing from traipsing through Charlottetown, a really fun place to spend time. On an early spring day, the cafe mocha was welcome and the sunny seats outside were clean and comfortable. Second visit a week later, the same delicious drinks, sandwiches, breakfast plates, acai bowls and a short kids menu from which I ordered a "baby bun". Ham, cheese, sourdough? Wasted on kids, it was yum! It's rustic and welcoming, the customer service was pretty good considering all the tourists alongside me, no doubt taxing the baristas' patience! We enjoyed the adjoining shop and their selection of jams and spread. The wait was worth it! The room is a bright large room overlooking the river. Handmade quilts hang from the ceiling. We started with nachos, that had the right blend of cheese and toppings. Unfortunately there were no side plates brought, causing us to eat like animals from a common trough. A slight mishap with a spilled glass of water interrupted our otherwise pleasant appetizer. The server's attention was less than prompt causing us to get extra napkins from directly behind the counter. Still, we soldiered on and prepared for the main feast. The seafood chowder was one of the better ones all trip. Fresh and flavourful pieces in a cream broth, served with a fresh side biscuit. The real opportunity is to highlight the delicious jams and spreads from the shop which would add some much needed flavour to the biscuits.
