I have bought Mrs Dunster's donuts in Maine. The mark up is pretty high! The latest is 5.75 USD…read more So, when I saw the place I had to stop and pick up some donuts. I got two bags of my favorite molasses flavor. I also got some garlic cheese rolls, which are really good too!

We decided to stop in at Mrs. Dunster's Kitchen Retail Store to check it out and to pick up some baked goods to bring home. The "not so fancy" bakery store sells donuts, nuggets, breads, rolls, cookies, cinnamon rolls, pies, decorated cakes, muffins, tea biscuits, and other treats. Most of the baked goods are packaged and ready to go. Hot coffee to go, breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches, pizza, and homemade soups are also sold here. We purchased a bag of Molasses Donuts, a bag of Butter Garlic Cheese Buns (10), and English Muffins - Cheese (6), which came out to just under $10. We ate some Donuts during the ride, which were soft and sweet tasting. The Garlic Cheese Buns (heated in toaster) were a very good accompaniment (contains lard) with our turkey dinners. The English Muffins-Cheese also tasted very good, but did not have the typical firm & chewy texture and had more of a breadlike texture. The packaged Mrs. Dunster's Donuts & Nuggets can also be found in stores throughout Atlantic Canada and in Maine (sold at Hannaford), not far from my home.

But, was very quickly overwhelmed (in a positive way) by the service and the "open concept" kitchen, and layout in general. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating to our requests. I was looking forward to getting the lamb, though it was sold out at the time of my visit. Instead I opted for the duck terrine, followed by the Tuna. Both were equally amazing, though the tuna stood out. It was served with a ginger(ish) flavoured sauce that had a nose running type of spice... Very good. 10/10 would recommend if you love good food.

We tried the smoked salmon gravlax and the ceviche, feature elderflower dessert and two aperitifs (which came out to around $110). Everything was good quality and tasted fresh though I was slightly let down that the dessert was more of a berry cake rather than of elderflower flavour. What stood out was the ceviche, extremely fresh and coated in some unique dressing, I'd definitely get that again! The gravlax while yummy was more standard and tasted what you'd find inside a salmon cream cheese bagel with capers. Overall, service was good and it was a lively evening though it definitely is more of a gourmet experience, but definitely the ceviche would be something to come here for while you're in Moncton.
