Lisa was great during the post op visit and was there to answer any questions I presented. Dr Vella is the go to for wrist, elbow and hand problems in my opinion. I've seen a few and he is definitely the right decision if you want honest direct answers and skilled surgery.

To say the least, that was a mistake. They left me with a $230 bill for a 15 minute visit, X-rays, and a splint that I could've bought at Walgreens for $10. Not to mention, I already had an identical splint on when I walked in. To be fair, I asked for the new splint hoping it'd be better than what I had. It was worse, and came with a price tag of over $100. Guidera and his PA told me the X-rays they JUST took weren't good enough and recommended that I get a CT scan done. He made a surprised/disgusted face when I sighed and looked down when he said I may need surgery. Sorry, I don't want to spend thousands more on my wrist if I don't absolutely have to... Anyways, after Guidera reviewed the CAT scan, his office informed me that I 'definitely' needed surgery and referred me to another hand surgeon since Guidera was unable to operate on anyone for 4 weeks due to his own surgery/injury. Well, that doctor said I did not need surgery and put me in a cast. Bottom line: Stay away from this office. They will nickle and dime you.

His office is located right behind Honors Health Shea Hospital off 91st. Great location, plenty of parking, easy to get to and great staff. We were greeted by a warm assistant that checked us in and then Shane took my sons X-rays & escorted us into the room to meet with Dr Nassar. I want to give a BIG shout out to Shane who took great care of my son through the whole office experience... great attitude, and full of lots of knowledge. We were able to schedule with Dr Nassar for the achilles surgery, but I tell you this doctor is booked, so if your in need of an orthopedic foot/ankle doctor give him a call and get in there. Terrible communication--an uneasy feeling of broken trust. It felt like anything that didn't fit…read morewith his "assembly-line" approach wasn't welcome--he said the head of my femur was broken off, and I needed surgery urgently but then sent me home for almost 2 weeks before admitting me; meantime, I was disabled/in constant pain. I only saw him personally for initial consult, at which he interrupted me and left room while I was asking questions--and then saw him for about 30 seconds while in preop just prior to surgery and again in postop for about 30 seconds immediately after. There was no other contact with him after surgery, although I was hospitalized. He did not appear for first postop office visit either, which they scheduled with his surgical assistant. At that visit, 6 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY, I was told he had found bacteria DURING surgery and they urgently wanted me to see Infectious Disease doctor now. No explanation as to why I wasn't told this at time of surgery, why referral to specialist wasn't made while I was in hospital, or why no mention of it whatsoever was in op report. (Or for that matter, why he did not see me himself to explain.) Furthermore, the antibiotic prescription given to me (finally) at 6 weeks after surgery had completely wrong RX instructions on the label--directions said "Take 4 by capsules by mouth 1 hour before procedure." I had to call office and ask how they actually intended for me to take the antibiotic--at 6 weeks postop. I gave him 2 stars instead of 1 star because I believe, despite all of the above, he did a good technical job on total hip replacement surgery, as I am in less pain and function appears good after PT/OT assistance.

The hip was so easy, I went home a few hours after the surgery and was back to normal in no time. No down time! The knee was a little more complicated but I walked out of the hospital that same afternoon of the surgery. It was a relatively easy recovery, within a month I was back at the gym and today, 1 year later almost to the day, I have full movement in the knee in all directions! And No pain whatsoever! He is a great Dr. and fun to be with. He keeps things uncomplicated and straight forward, I loved working with him. I highly recommend this great orthopedic Dr. I tell many people about my experiences with Dr Silver, and always will!

Dr. Frankel,…read morethrough an agent at OrthoArizona, demanded that I pre-pay for the surgery only 11 days before the surgery, with an amount that was only their estimate of what the insurance cost would be. I couldn't afford this amount and had to cancel the surgery. They still demanded that I pay for the pre-surgery exam, which I was billed for AFTER the exam, as is normal. No way! I filed a small claims court complaint, and they then admitted their wrongdoing and settled with me out of court. Very greedy and unethical behavior. Legally, patients are not required to pre-pay for medical procedures, but the company did not disclose this. Avoid Scott Frankel and OrthoArizona!

That same doctor also did a small finger DIP fusion to eliminate the severe arthritis pain.....well pain is worse than ever. I met with Dr. Frankel on January 18 of 2024 and showed him the x-rays and reports from the other surgeon. He said the fusion itself looked like it healed well and the pain I was feeling was the arthritis in the joint below (PIP). He examined both wrists and said to give them about 3 more months of healing as it seems like it is the scar tissue. Anyway, nothing was done at that meeting but I felt very confident with him and will follow up in 3 months if I am still having a problem.
