A red rope prevents punters from exploring upstairs sadly. The cafe serves up a variety of no-nonsense fair, with homemade soups, tasty sandwiches and cakes all on offer at reasonable prices. I always admire somewhere brave enough to serve imaginative soup flavours outside of the crowd-pleasing chicken and vegetable bracket. A steaming bowl of Garlic soup was the ideal antidote to the damp afternoon outside on my visit. It was a light, high-ceilinged room painted a refreshing Frenchish shade of light blue. Large plants in the corners, a piano, some interesting paintings and little flowers gave the place a vibe which was both elegant and relaxing. We only ordered coffee, however there was a range of yum-looking food available too, as well as an outside garden to enjoy it in. I think not only did we enjoy their food, but we also enjoy their incredibly friendly service. It is located in front of Kilmainham Gaol, so it is a good place to stop after visiting the infamous jail. Anyways, the scrambled eggs, bacon & toast and the honey ham sandwich were my favorite items. Every morning I got an espresso shot. Their coffee is Fairtrade and Rain Forest Alliance Certified.  5 stars. Highly recommended. Try one of their cookies.

I got there right at 8am (at opening), and they only took about 5-7 minutes to get my order ready. And pretty much right at opening, a line starts forming. That's pretty much a good tell tale sign that this is a good cafe. Will visit again the next time I'm in Dublin since it's right next to the hotel I stay at. Oh... and free wifi.

Table settings is a community type thing. They have large tables that seat 10 and you just sat in any spot. The service is a little slower than I'm used to but the food definitely made up for that. What we ordered: - porridge with milk and honey - traditional Irish breakfast - bacon, sausage, 2 fried eggs, hash, grilled tomato and toast - veggie breakfast - 2 fried eggs, vegetables, grilled tomato, beans and toast - Americana coffee - small pot of tea The food was very good here. If you're in the mood for breakfast, definitely come here as they serve breakfast all day! Since the service is a little slow, make sure to plan accordingly if you're in a time crunch.

Hitting up a coffee shop was definitely not what I was expecting to do immediately after setting…read morefoot in Dublin; but given that my friends are such coffee fiends that they even put me to shame, I didn't have a choice but to hit up one of Dublin's hottest coffee spots as soon as we got off the bus. The space is rather small, as most coffee shops are, and the prices are a bit up there, but all the coffee they make holds its own against some of the best- no Starbucks quality here- and the food is amazing. Speaking of, if you haven't tried their hotcakes slathered with berries, compote, and some of the most decadent whipped cream you've ever tasted, you haven't lived life to the fullest. It was so sweet, it was almost too much for me to finish, but I won't complain about such a delicious sugar rush this early in the morning. If you're not the "dessert for breakfast" type, they also have your typical avocado toast- don't ask me why that's a thing here, too- eggs, breakfast meats, and of course, porridge. Or, if you're not the breakfast type, they do have some bomb-looking pastries available all day, every day, including vegan options. These guys must also be pretty well-established given that they have merch available for purchase, on top of their perishables. And really, the coffee here is amazeballs. If you come for nothing else, come for that.

Their menu is ever changing, and can be found on their Facebook page daily, and is emailed to students of the college daily. It is vegetarian friendly and you can request vegan alternatives too, which is something very important to me when I look for a café to have lunch or just a lovely morning coffee. Their beetroot burger is absolutely amazing, and the recipe was suggested by one of the students, hence he name "Aoibhinn from Sculpture's Beetroot Burger", which is a lovey touch. You can see into the kitchen of the café, and see all of the food being prepared in the mornings. They serve breakfast until 12, and then they serve lunch from 11 onwards. My go to is an almond milk latte, it's only €2.10 which I find extremely affordable. You can get a coffee and something sweet for €3!!! If you want to make a day of coming here, you can also check out some of the great student held exhibitions within the college, such as the Yellow Box exhibition space, and the NCAD gallery always has new and exciting exhibitions displayed too. Definitely worth a visit!
