It's one of the only places open late for miles, so I can get some late night studying in. I don't even mind the no laptops policy on the weekend because it's such a joy to study here on the weekdays. The space is rather small, as most coffee shops are, and the prices are a bit up there, but all the coffee they make holds its own against some of the best- no Starbucks quality here- and the food is amazing. Speaking of, if you haven't tried their hotcakes slathered with berries, compote, and some of the most decadent whipped cream you've ever tasted, you haven't lived life to the fullest. It was so sweet, it was almost too much for me to finish, but I won't complain about such a delicious sugar rush this early in the morning. If you're not the "dessert for breakfast" type, they also have your typical avocado toast- don't ask me why that's a thing here, too- eggs, breakfast meats, and of course, porridge. Or, if you're not the breakfast type, they do have some bomb-looking pastries available all day, every day, including vegan options. These guys must also be pretty well-established given that they have merch available for purchase, on top of their perishables. And really, the coffee here is amazeballs. I came here on two morning occasions to relax at the bar seating overlooking the barge while sipping on an espresso on day 1 and a matcha latte on day 2. Both delicious. To balance out the unbalanced amount of adult beverages from the previous nights, on top of the caffeine kick I ordered the fresh green juice as well. It's a good way to make me think I'm detoxing my body thoroughly. But at least it tastes delicious regardless if its a placebo effect. As for the main dishes, the Scrambled Eggs, Chorizo and Feta with side sausages were so good. Fluffy scrambled eggs and savory chorizo...can't go wrong. Also, the house-made sausages were so tasty too. On the other morning occasion I opted for the Grove Road Benedict and wow so so good! Perfectly poached eggs with the creamy hollandaise sauce and super tender braised beef...sheesh. Delicious. Service was very prompt and the staff were all so warm and friendly. I think not only did we enjoy their food, but we also enjoy their incredibly friendly service. It is located in front of Kilmainham Gaol, so it is a good place to stop after visiting the infamous jail. I got there right at 8am (at opening), and they only took about 5-7 minutes to get my order ready. And pretty much right at opening, a line starts forming. That's pretty much a good tell tale sign that this is a good cafe. Will visit again the next time I'm in Dublin since it's right next to the hotel I stay at. Oh... and free wifi.
