    Lots of book cases!

What a selection! My husband and I stumbled across Time Tested Books while on a bookstore crawl together, and this store is awesome! They sell new and used books, though the store is primarily stocked with used books. Everything is priced fairly. Though there is a lot to look at, I felt like it was all organized well so it was easy to browse. The staff was also helpful when we had questions. I loved the children's selection. So many classic books for kiddos, and all were great quality. Check out this bookstore the next time you're in the area!

I really enjoyed this spot! This bookstore had a good variety of old and new books! The owner was very nice too

I always find something I want at this book shop and I love coming here! Such a cute bookstore with tons of books ranging in price from their $1 section to more expensive items. They have a small area by the children's section where kids can sit and play which I thought was really nice. The staff have always without fail been so kind! They explain their trade in system, ask if you need help finding anything in specific, and are generally kind and welcoming. Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

Loved the way they worked with the space and the lighting

As a teacher and a nerdy bookworm, I am irresistibly and unapologetically drawn to bookstores. We have been waiting for Time Tested to open back up and today was the day for us to venture inside! If the door is locked, make sure you're masked and just knock. For now, they are requiring masks for browsing, and I for one am not mad about it. Inside you'll find a bibliophiles' haven; stacks of new and used books gorgeously displayed in tall bookshelves set against exposed brick and wooden beams. Excellent selection, polite but not pushy service, and *that bookstore smell* that I find intoxicating. Can't wait to go back!

I found three things I didn't know I needed within the first ten minutes. the selection is genuinely impressive across categories. fiction, nonfiction, history, art, local interest, vintage stuff you won't find anywhere else. prices are what used books should cost, nothing felt overpriced and I felt like I was getting a deal on basically everything I picked up. the R Street location is perfect, great neighborhood, easy to make it part of a longer afternoon in Sacramento. staff was friendly and clearly knows the store well. there's something about a good independent bookstore that just makes a city feel more alive and Beers Books absolutely does that for Sacramento. if you're visiting or you live there and haven't been, go on a slow afternoon and give yourself time to actually wander. you'll find something.

As others have mentioned, the selection has some gaps, but I imagine you could easily order a book you want that isn't in stock. I enjoyed browsing the shelves and seeing employee recommendations. When I made it to the poetry selection, I was happy to see that it wasn't all mainstream or classic poets, and I ended up picking up a few new collections. There's an extensive children's and young adult section in the back, and the store also sells things like book-related jewelry, some cards, and a ton of cute stickers (I may have gone overboard on buying some of those). They also sell local zines, which I think is awesome. If you make a zine, you can contact them to see about selling them in the store. The front table has free bookmarks, handouts, community announcements, etc., and the person at the register let me put some of my zines on the table for people to take for free. All in all, a cute spot, and one I'd visit regularly if I lived in town.
