Every time I have to go here it's literally the worst experience. The staff are so rude and just clearly do not care at all about customer service or retention. I recently got rid of the internet and cable and switched to fios and that was the best thing I've ever done. I deceived to keep the phone service because it is a reasonable price for unlimited data. I went in today to upgrade my phone and it was the biggest waste of 2 hours of my life. They told me I didn't qualify to finance the phone but couldn't give me a reason why. I have almost a 800 credit score and I've never missed a bill in my life. How is that possible? We asked the manager to please check again because something wasn't right and he said cant do anything even he doesn't qualify for the phone financing. I literally took my ID back and went straight to Verizon down the street and switched services. It is a little more expensive but IMO worth every penny. I never want to deal with Spectrum again. I have auto pay on for my mobile payments and I lost my card that it was attached to and had to cancel it and get a new one and as I am waiting for the bank to send a new card Spectrum CANCELS MY SERVICE. I have never missed a payment for 11 years now as a spectrum customer and they refuse to be accommodating the one time I request a singular extra day for the new card to arrive in the mail. They do not care at all about their customers. They are greedy money hungry script readers that refuse to help another person out by hiding behind a script that tells them to repeat the same thing over and over again when it is very easy for them to help the situation. I had an issue with them previously where FedEx lost the phone they sent me and Spectrum tried to make ME PAY FOR A SECOND NEW PHONE SINCE FEDEX LOST THE FIRST ONE. It took me nearly two weeks of listening to them give me the same mantra until I finally got a competent supervisor who was able to remedy the issue in 10 minutes that I had been told repeatedly they "could not fix". These people who they hire are just warm bodies to fill a vacant seat and don't understand the actual meaning of customer service. Spectrum is a HORRIBLE company and they just scam people. read more

I submitted a BBB complaint in an attempt to have this company remove all my data from their system and never contact me again. We have had Spectrum for several years and the WiFi service keeps getting worse and worse. Spectrum told us that our service would start cutting out more if we did not hook the new modem up that they sent us. Also that we would enjoy better, faster connections when we switched to the new modem. I waited until I couldn't take it anymore and finally installed the new modem. As expected, the old modem was better. The new "latest and greatest" modem cuts out at least 20 times a day. Honestly, dial up from 20 years ago would be faster. read more

Just received a gift the new ultra 2 Apple Watch, went through the setup process and everything looked good. Unfortunately the cellular connection wasn't working even though it said it was connected. They never tell ya anything!! If I didn't call them I would never had known where I was in the process of reestablishing my service after my internet went down. It's been a horrible experience and find them to be rude and unapproachable. I know they don't care that I'm leaving their business and that's why they treat people the way they do. Unacceptable service. I am so glad my main residence is in Southern New Hampshire where I have Xfinity for cable and internet service with minimal to no issues. Also, my NH town has a cable commission to make sure there are no issues and the rates charged to customers are regulated. Each time I try to watch TV at my Wynantskill home which has Spectrum cable and internet service (?), I have to often reset the cable box which takes 10-15 minutes to reboot and I usually miss most of the TV show. Also, since Spectrum took over Time Warner service, the internet seems slower and sometimes intermittent. Also, the cable bill rates have risen dramatically after Spectrum took over. I actually want to sell my house to get away from spectrum as they are the only provider in my area. I have been on hold for over an 1 1/2 hours. First i tried to find out why my bill went up every month for the last 4 months. I got put on hold and left for 45 min until finally I got someone. I then asked to change my service and get rid of cable only to get put on hold again for another 45 min only to be disconnected again. I am now back on hold for the last 30 min. What the heck. I thought there were anti trust laws to protect us against this kind of thing. But lets face it some in NY politics is lining their pockets. Wow! So different than any other Spectrum experience I've encountered. I signed up for service in our new home in Albany and made arrangements to pick up our equipment from the Colonie store. While it was a bit tough to find the outlet, the service was top notch. We were greeted at the door and ushered to an associate who had our equipment bagged and ready for our pickup. Now, if the rest of Spectrum was as good as this store... I don't understand other folks ratings here unless they're rating Spectrum overall; I would agree overall Spectrum gets 1 Star. Spectrum - Horrible service - Television Service Providers Near Me - Albany, New York

Same rating as before, but for different reasons. Last year we had to get upgraded digital cable boxes from Spectrum and in the process we had to sign up for new contracts (the Time Warner contracts were expiring). To get any sort of deal you had to buy internet, television, and phone packages. I didn't want the phone and left the stuff in the bag for literally a year until yesterday when I returned them. The television cable box was so difficult to set up (my wife and I spent probably 45 minutes on the phone with them to get it configured) and it worked so poorly that I never even took the second box out of the bag to put on our other tv. Even with it finally configured, I would turn on the cable box and it might take 1-10 minutes just to pull up the channels. Stupid. The internet was, and still is, fine. So, I took back everything but the internet modem and canceled my television (sob) and phone (which I never wanted) contracts. The staff there were extremely friendly and on a Sunday morning they went through 24 people in front of me in less than 8 minutes. A mixed bag. Sometimes helpful, sometimes not. Bills that usually rise, rarely fall, and when they do are only because of limited-time deals. I suppose my gripes are the same as everyone else's. Nothing but problems with Spectrum. My wife convinced me to sign up for a "free" year of cell service that they offered to her if I joined Spectrum. All I had to do was to sign up, and a year for free using my Moto phone. First, that particular 2020 model was not covered by Spectrum. I then ordered a new Spectrum Moto phone. Second, the day it was delivered my phone stopped working for a few hours and then turned on again. Third, I went to Spectrum office to return the phone since I did not need it. They said I could not return it without paying a $50 restocking fee since I opened the outside of the package they mailed me. Fourth, they said I had waited too long to return the phone and would have to pay for it without any service from them for three years. Spectrum is every bit as shamelessly self-interested, and as entirely disinterested in what their customers might need, as is PayPal. And that's saying something. I'm moving, so I need to stop various services that I have in my current residence. Tonight, I first went to National Grid's website, where it took me about five minutes, if that, to navigate to where I needed to be and schedule my electrical service to stop on the desired date. Easy-peasy, Japanesey. Then I went to Spectrum's website with the same end in mind. HA! Fat chance. You can do anything you want on Spectrum's website, as long as it's starting or adding services, or will in some other way increase Spectrum's income in an immediate, short-sighted way. But because *stopping* your service entails a *loss* of income for Spectrum, Spectrum makes it as difficult as possible to so much as find any mention of stopping your service on the website, let alone actually stop it. And in fact you *can't* stop it on the website - you need to call, because that's the only way Spectrum can respond to your request to stop service by trying to get you to instead buy MORE of the very services you seek to stop. It's as if they don't hear a word you say - and indeed, they don't. All they know, all they care about, is SELL, SELL, SELL. What will actually serve your needs is of no interest to Spectrum; it is but a tool to get you to call so that Spectrum can attend only to what serves *Spectrum's* needs: selling you more (and more, and more) crap. The rep I dealt with on the phone was a shining example of a company man, and acted exactly as described above. "You want to cancel your service? Well that's too bad, because [launch into interminable sales pitch]." I did not once waver in my determination, and I put up with none of his single-minded, self-interested BS. The cable tv sucks as well, half of the time there is something decent in the movie channels, I get this error msg: channel is 'unavailable' at this time. It truly is FUCKED up. How do you choose between two extremes? If one part of a business provided you with a 5 star experience while another part provided only a 1 star experience, how would you rate that business? Such is my dilemma about a recent experience with Time Warner Cable. We purchased an additional flat screen TV to replace an old small TV/VCR combo that received the most basic of cable channels. My wife wanted to have the "On Demand" feature available on the new TV so we went to the Time Warner Store in Colonie Center to pick up and add an additional cable box. One of the first positive experiences was a minimal wait time of about 10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon when 10 people were ahead of us on the list. Sufficient cable staff were working to move the customers along quickly. I also can't say enough about the friendliness of the representative (Donna) who helped us. We didn't desire another box with a built in DVR and she assured us that the box she provided would meet our needs. She then went above and beyond the expected level of service by noting that we had a third TV in the house that did not have a cable box, and alerted us that, sometime in July, that TV would no longer be capable of receiving the "all digital" signals that Time Warner would then begin broadcasting. IOW, total black screen on EVERY channel. She then provided us with a small HD Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) that we could connect to that TV now and avoid the mad rush when everyone else realizes that they are going to need to pick up one of these DTA devises. She did mention (full disclosure) that the DTA was being provided free for a year but would cost $1/month after that. So off to home we went to hook up the new TV. Now, I have to accept complete responsibility for any ID-10T errors that followed. We called the supplied 877 phone number, as instructed, to "activate" the cable box and once again encountered a very friendly, patient and accommodating representative. The TV was not finding any channels as it went through its scan setup. We were talked through trying different signal sources until the problem was identified. The solution: I forgot to attach the power cord to the cable box. The cable rep waited patiently while I did this. Next, we needed the assistance of the cable rep in programming the cable remote so that it could handle all the needed functions of the TV remote. Again, with much patience the cable rep walked us through the setup. Satisfied that everything was finally working we left the house for a bite to eat. Upon return my wife decided to enjoy one of her favorite shows using the "On Demand" feature. It didn't work! A message kept appearing that we had to subscribe. Subscribe to what? It was too late in the day to deal with this now. It would have to wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow arrived and my wife called the 877 phone number for assistance. Another very friendly and helpful representative, who happened to mention that she was in Glenville, identified the problem as our cable box without DVR capability as not being capable of accessing "On Demand." We needed to return it and replace it with the appropriate box. So off to the Colonie Center store with box in hand. Once there, no crowd yet so no waiting, my wife was informed that the original box given to us should have worked. In any event, they gave her a similar, but different brand box. We hooked it up and called the 877 phone number to activate it. This latest friendly rep was located in Maine. We tested all the necessary functions up until "On Demand." So far so good. My wife entered the channel number she was accustomed to using previously for "On Demand" (100) and the box would not accept it. It kept automatically going to channel 1000 instead. But lo and behold, 1000 was how you accessed "On Demand" with this type cable box. Could there have been yet another ID-10T error that we committed yesterday with the first cable box? So how DO you decide to provide an overall rating when staff have a 5* personality and work for a company that has a 2 or 3* ability to resolve problems that are partially ID-10T errors? read more

Indifferent, rude customer service representative. Bill went up around $20 with no change of service. Went to inquire but representative was not helpful... apparently some promotion ran out and it is what it is. Asked if we can have any sort of discount/promotion package offered to new subscriber and the person just ignored me and was rather rude. Mentioned that I have option to go to Verizon Fios and she just says, ok uh hum. And this is their Customer retention specialist. Years of Time Warner and they were much more helpful in trying to find me a deal if available. Spectrum? Not so much. No apologies for increase in price, no attempts to sell their products or offer a better package. Try to tell me that I am actually grandfathered into the Time Warner Package and the same package with Spectrum would cost over $200. Uh, sure. I now understand why Charter (or now Spectrum) was so hated by people. At least I have the option to go to Verizon Fios. I may pay similar amount but I will have much faster internet and hopefully better customer service. Extremely poor attitude and poor customer service. If Spectrum actually care they should consider customer service remedial training for their staff on how to deal with the public. read more

WAY TO TRY GETTING OUT OF A BBB COMPLAINT SPECTRUM! Unfortunately I must insist on reopening BBB complaint #13835236. The complaint was closed based on commitment from Spectrum to refund the $138 for one month of service to compensate for more than 2 years of interrupted service and hours of lost work for service appointments that culminated in several weeks of inability to access service and additional lost time. We got our refund today... $51.27. I am furious to hat I have been lied to AGAIN. And Yelp won't let me give it no stars to match Spectrum's current BBB "F" rating. Absolutely the worst cable tv and internet provider ever. Cable boxes stop working daily, requiring daily reboots that take 20 minutes. The internet is suppose to be 100mbs but averages 20 at best. Took an early lunch while at work to return my Fiancé's cable equipment. What a mistake. The line was already 7 deep when I walked in. There are 8 employees in the store but only 2 of them are working at the computer terminals actually helping customers. The rest are standing around talking to each other. None of them will make eye-contact with you because they know they're about to deliver sub-par service. Lives up to what I expect from Time Warner Cable. 20+ minute wait to return (not exchange) a cable box. There is just one person helping customers. Two people checking people in as they walk through the door - is this *really* a two-person job? Two associates typing at computers with other two additional associates standing next to them. One associate typing on a computer alone. And several miscellaneous associates wandering around. In total, there are about 30 customers waiting, 8 to 10 associates on the floor, but only 1 of them is actually helping customers. read more
