Terrible customer service and a blatant drop-shipping scam. I placed an order on their website, but after two weeks, I still hadn't received a shipping confirmation. When I reached out for an update, they simply told me they'd email me when it shipped. Fast forward another two weeks--still nothing. A full month passed with zero communication. When I followed up again, instead of a response, I received a refund email just five minutes later--no explanation, no apology, nothing. The small savings weren't worth the hassle. Ordered seven magazines on line from website. My card was immediately charged. Over a week later I enquired about the order - like other reviewers I was told I'd get notified when shipped. Another week goes by, I email them and state respectfully that if they're out of stock they can cancel and refund me, no problem. No answer. After 10 More days (over a month since the order), I ask to be sent my items immediately or I'd have to file a Dispute with my CC company. He replied "Good for you, good luck with your dispute." I never did receive my items and he refused to talk to the CC company so the dispute took two more months until resolved (in my favor). This is outright fraud. He hopes the customer won't follow up so he can keep your money. Never intended to ship me anything, it's a complete scam - and IMO it is also criminal theft. Purchased a pistol from him on gun broker. He advertised that he was selling Witness Elite Stock III pistols so I bought one. When I purchase firearms I usually have to go in one day and fill out the background check and then come back the next day to pick it up. This is because of the fact that there's another individual that has my same name and birthday that has a long criminal history so usually background checks for me are delayed. I work almost every day of the week and I could not wait around for the check to clear that day. When I go to pick up the gun it's a not an Elite, it's a Defiant stock three. The Witness Elite is an all-steel pistol, whereas the Defiant is a polymer gun I reached out to the seller and tried to explain this to him. Seller lied to me two times in email communication and once on his review on GunBroker. He keeps insisting that I got the correct pistol that I ordered. Anybody with eyesight and a brain cell would be able to realize that they're two entirely different guns. Now he wants to hide behind some bullshit store policy that he says that once the gun is transferred.dre it can't be taken back. I understand it can't be sold as new, but considering the fact that he sent a completely different model than what I ordered and paid for, I think that makes him responsible. So he can't sell it new, so what? I haven't used it! He could put it in his sales case and sell it as used- I paid over $1000 for the gun that I was supposedly ordering. The polymer gun that he sent me instead doesn't retail for anywhere near that price. So addition to him sending me the wrong gun and refusing a return , he's ripping me off for several hundred dollars. This guy is a lying scumbag. Don't do business with him! read more

Bought an air rifle from an online gun auction. Tin Star was responsible for the shipping. After about 10 days I contact them about my item because I hadn't heard anything. They were less than helpful telling me I received an email telling me what I need to do. I had never got an email from them and they pretty much called me a liar. Asked them for an invoice so I could pay for the shipping and I got a snarky response with still no invoice. I had to contact the Auction House to get them to apply pressure on Tin Star to invoice me for shipping. They were extremely helpful after the auction house got wind of their actions. I buy things from all over the country and have never had the issues that this business created. I would strongly suggest avoiding this company like the plague. read more

The absolute worst customer service I've ever received in the firearms industry. I ordered a part online and after a week and no movement, I used the contact us link on their page (on a Friday). The weekend passed and on Monday I sent a message to their listed email address. The initial reply I received was rude, but got even more condescending on the second reply. Note, they are closed Sunday and Monday so I sent the email late Monday evening so I wouldn't forget on my way to work on Tuesday. Still doesn't explain the poor customer service. First email: Me: Good evening, I tried the Contact Us section of your page last week, but received no reply so I'm trying the email directly. Them: Again, closed on closed on Sunday and Monday. Second email: Me: Again? I never got a reply the first time. Thanks for the reply. Please cancel my order and refund. I'll spend my money with a company with better customer service than your last reply. Them: Second time. Can you read our hours?? A week later when I asked when is it going ti be shipped, the owner starts arguing with me and tells me that I dont know what I am talking about. I made a mistake but looks like I got lucky too. I am a traveling nurse practitioner, and I travel out of state three or four days a week. I am also an independent contractor, and as such, I keep an attorney on the retainer in case I encounter liability issues in my work. Twelve days ago, I was searching for a revolver to take with me on my days off, while horseback riding in the mountains. I "discovered" "Tin Star Shooting Range"! They had the revolver in stock, the price was good, and I jumped on it. Paid right away and got the receipt few hours later. All good. Right? WRONG. I paid on Friday, shop cannot ship on Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. OK I understand that. Well,....comes Wednesday and I politely ask Matt through email when will my handgun ship. He said verbatim "by the end of the week". Now I smelled trouble and did what I was supposed to do in the first place,......Google and read reviews! What a shock. The "end of the week" came, and still no shipping info. So I called my attorney (which I am paying for nothing for over five years now) and he said he will be happy to take care of it for me. Advised me to send Matt another email and give him a deadline to ship the revolver by Tuesday the 22nd (yesterday), which I did. If he doesn't ship by Tuesday, the attorney will step in. Lo and behold, on MONDAY (the day they are supposed to be closed), Matt sends me the shipping notification, but the tracking # is not "active" yet. I was ready to start the battle at that point. Luckily for him (Matt), and me, the tracking number is active today and the package is "in transit", to be delivered on Saturday. I am not poor. Few hundred dollars don't mean much to me, but thinking I am being scammed, cost me few hours of sleep to say the least. It seems to me that this whole "internet sales" of this "company" is actually just a husband and wife, who are well over their heads. They are overwhelmed, don't have a clue how to treat customers, and are simply greedy. Greedy in a sense that they don't want to hire a person (or two) to handle shipping and customer service. They grew their business more than they can handle, but don't want to pay for additional help. My experience with Tin Star began with them offering the best price online and free shipping. I placed the order for a Taurus G3 TORO and almost immediately received an email confirming the order. Then I didn't hear anything for a day or two and my phone calls were not returned. Then I looked at Yelp and thought "Oh boy, did I make a mistake?" The answer is no. I soon got a nice email explaining that the order was moving through the process and I would get a tracking number the same week. Sure enough, the number came in and my gun was in the mail the next day. Continuous updates followed from them and the package was at the FFL in two days. That was some great service, fast and free shipping and a truly good price. I would not hesitate to do business with Tin Star again. read more

Fraudster on gunbroker. Won an item AT THE BUY IT NOW price. Which was actually a really good deal, $60 bucks under MSRP. Then it wouldn't ship with no explanation. So I sent an email asking for clarification. It was out of stock. So either Matt was putting stuff up for auction that he didn't have, or realized that it was too good of a deal and decided not to send it. Either way, the response I got back when questioning it was petulant. Saying: "Sir, I'm sorry. How many more times can I say that? Geez I apologize. I'm sure you never ever make a mistake right?" As is clear from the large number of negative reviews and the flippant and unhelpful responses, as well as its poor Better Business Bureau profile, this company is neither reliable nor customer friendly. My brother and I bought our brother, a police officer, a Ruger Max 9 with a Ruger Ready Dot for off-duty use. The pistol arrived at the FFL with no red dot in the box (the box was clearly marked to indicate this model pistol included the red dot). Despite repeated calls and emails to Tin Star for over a month now, this company has failed to provide us the missing red dot or to even attempt to make things right. I don't know whether all FFLs do this or not, but mine sends an email or fax to the seller with the information I sent to them (minus the actual FFL) which expedites the transaction. I placed my order with Tin Star on a Thursday after 5PM, so likely they didn't see it until Friday. Tin Star is closed Sunday and Monday, but on Tuesday there was an email waiting for me from Tin Star confirming my purchase. Following shortly thereafter was an email from Matt Wilson confirming shipping with tracking info. Tin Star offers free shipping, and USPS tracking estimated delivery for Thursday after 9pm, one week after I placed my order. Actual delivery per USPS tracking showed that it was delivered to my FFL on Thursday at 11:30 am on August 25, 2022. My FFL called me Friday morning and I had my order in my hand by 10:00am. Because my FFL is also a small business and extremely busy they ask that customers tracking their orders do not call or stop by immediately upon seeing that their order has been delivered. Like most small businesses they are under a lot of stress, and deserve our support and patience. Thank you Tin Star for the excellent service, and I wish this experience on every customer. read more

Stay away! Should have listened to the MANY other negative reviews. Placed an order for an item that showed as in stock. Shortly after placing the order I noticed the inventory count showed negative one and out of stock. Thought that was odd, so waited awhile longer and then noticed the item had been completely removed from their website. I just wanted to confirm the item I ordered was actually in stock, so I tried calling the following day and was unable to reach anyone after multiple attempts. I then tried emailing, explaining I wasn't in a hurry for shipping, and just wanted to confirm the item was in stock. The owner replied and said "We will be back in the office on Monday and I will be glad to look at it at that time." Monday comes and I hadn't heard from him, so I followed up again. The response I received from the owner was very rude and unprofessional. His response was "Stop!!! We are closed on Sunday and Monday!! Very clear. Why in the world are you so impatient!!" I explained that I was following up because his previous email said "We will be back in the office on Monday and I will be glad to look at it at that time." Emailed to see what the problem may be and what needed to be done to fix any issue. Didn't realize they were closed! Still sent a couple emails with any info I thought they would need. When he finally emailed me today. I told him in an email they had many horrible reviews on yelp but I ordered anyway to support a "family" run business this was the response "Can you not read sir? I called ahead to verify the item was in stock, was promised they had several, and placed my order. One week and a few calls with no answers later, I received a rude eMail response to a polite question about my order status, still with no answers. I had an FFL dealer help me to get this rifle in my possession and it was an embarrassing situation where the email was sent with the FFL info to Tin Star Shooting range and got accepted, to turn around and they denied that it was ever sent. when I called the gentleman was rude saying he could not help me with it. So they decided at the end to return my money, which im cool with, with not even a phone call nor email until I reached out to them. Sure wish I had read reviews before doing business with these people. I had been looking for a particular handgun, and was excited to see on their website on Friday that they actually had the one I wanted in stock. Put it in my cart, filled out payment info, etc. and got confirmation that it was mine and would be shipped to my FFL. Nothing happened over the weekend, other than showing payment pending on my bank site. No red flags yet, makes sense that I wouldn't actually get charged for it until it shipped. On Monday it cleared my bank and payment went through. I was about to email them on Tuesday to find out when it would ship, tracking number, etc., when instead I got an email saying that my payment was being refunded because the item wasn't in stock. Um, you let me purchase it, charged me for it, and then mysteriously it's out of stock? I sent them an email asking how it could be out of stock when the purchase went through, and received a terse reply that "it's not available". Never did get an explanation from them. On Wednesday their site showed that it was in stock again. Shady business practices at best. Was wondering what other nonsense they might be up to, and then started reading these reviews. When the item came back in stock a week later, I placed another order thinking there was just an inventory error before. I emailed the store to confirm that h the item is in stock and would not cancel this time. Matt, the owner, assured me that the item would ship. Half a month later after being charged, nothing had shipped. I sent an email asking about this, and received a reply the next day saying that there was a lack of stock and my order would be canceled. I ordered three hard to get items from Tin Star Shooting Range's website and they were exemplary through every step of the process; emails, follow up calls, and even after the items were received by my FFL. I stumbled across Tin Star's website while searching for three difficult to get items. Every place else I tried had only one or two of the items in stock, and invariably at least one of the items was significantly overpriced. Amazingly Tin Star had all three items in stock and at the best prices I found by far. This seemed hard to believe so I checked the reviews, and was disheartened by what I saw. Still the prices were so good and they had it all in one place, so I gave them a call with the specific part numbers to see if they really had what I wanted in stock. I spoke to Tobi, who said she'd be happy to check the inventory status of the items and to confirm they were actually the correct items. She confirmed all the items and even gave me a heads-up that one of the items was the last one in stock and that since it was popular, she was concerned that it might get sold soon. I went ahead placed the order and called them back to see if the order would be shipped complete and to check if they needed an email from my FFL. This time I spoke to Matt, who confirmed that everything was still in stock and that they had all my FFL's info already. Matt said they'd start getting the order together and ship as soon as possible. I figured with their prices (and running a shooting range) they'd be pretty busy, plus I placed my order at the end of the week and knew they probably wouldn't be able to ship until the following Tuesday, so I was willing to be patient. The following Tuesday I received an email that the order had been fulfilled along with the link to track the package. Additionally Tobi sent a separate email letting me know the items had shipped and when to expect them. Amazingly USPS delivered the items to my FFL two days early (I know, hard to believe, right?) I then received an automated notification of the delivery and another email from Tobi saying the same. All the items were in perfect, new condition, and were the correct items. I make a lot of online purchases. Not too many firearms though. After a while one gets complacent and begins to cut corners and not check reviews. I did that with Tin Star Shooting Ranch in last month. I had my shopping cart loaded with a firearm & accessories. I tried to find my chosen Firearms Transfer Dealer in the drop down on Tin Star's website but couldn't. I called my transfer dealer he immediately filed his license with Tin Star. That was Jan 23rd. This is Feb 1st. I still can't complete my order. I've written Tin Star's owner, Matthew Derrel Wilson 5 times & left 4 voice messages over the last 10 days. NO RESPONSE TO ANY OF THEM. Then my instincts kicked in. I thought to myself, time to check the reviews. I was shocked when I read poor review after poor review after poor review. At least 37 of them. Cases where people spent their $$$ and couldn't get it back or couldn't get their firearm(s) shipped. Over and over and over again. Same stuff, different day & different customer. This is criminal folks and it's against the law! Now I don't live in Oklahoma and I count myself VERY lucky that I read the reviews BEFORE I spent the money. That is of course what we should all do, all of the time. I have another 50 dealers where I can spend my money on the same firearms. No Problem! But save yourself the time and hassle of dealing with a fraudulent business person. READ THE REVIEWS F-I-R-S-T!!!! Worst purchasing experience I have ever had. I ordered a rifle from Tin Star on Jan 5th 2020 and payed right away, I received no shipping information or ETA or anything that lead me to believe that they intended on shipping it. After 10 days I made multiple attempts to contact them via email and phone. I received no response from phone calls and only partial response from email. They always avoided answering my question about a shipping ETA. The owner, Matt Wilson, was very rude in his response to my question on ETA. He eventually offered to cancel my order, which I accepted. He then disappeared after the acceptance of the cancellation and would not acknowledge it, so I disputed the transaction. 4 days after I disputed the transaction, he sent the rifle anyway. After he shipped the rifle, he then contacted me, called me a deadbeat and threatened to call the ATF because he believed I was attempting to rob him of his rifle, even though I had disputed the transaction 4 days prior to him shipping it and after he ignored my response to his offer to cancel it. Mr. Wilson claimed that he never received a cancellation request, and when I provided him a time stamped transcript of our interaction he claimed that I was making it all up. I had to explain to Mr. Wilson how emails work and that regardless of his feelings about the situation, the emails that I sent him would be found by an investigation if that was the rout he wanted to take. I was totally fine with that since I had nothing to hide. Eventually someone else from Tin Star took over the thread and decided to work with me to help them get their rifle back, which I was happy to do. It is my belief that Tin Star Shooting Range only exists so that Mr. Matt Wilson can have his class 3 firearms license. Customers are just a burden and get in the way of him doing whatever he does. Let me start by telling you that I'm one of those guys who believe in giving a person a second chance and maybe a third one too.  So, I'm not writing this review just out of spite due to a bad experience but to help others understand that the negative reviews for Tin Star Shooting Range all have some merit. Even though I saw mostly negative reviews for this firearms seller I decided to give them a chance.  I purchased a firearm online from Tin Star and was promptly charged and received a confirmation email. FIVE days passed and there was no status update online or in an email to me - so I called. Matt answered the phone and tells me that they don't ship firearms on Saturdays and they are closed on Mondays. Fine, I'll accept that.. "so it's Wednesday now and my order was placed on Friday, do you have an ETA on when it might ship?". He responds that it's on the counter and he will have it shipped first thing in the morning. The next day I received the shipping confirmation.. except, wait... the link to the tracking number doesn't work and I can no longer log in to his website to see if there's a valid number there.  So, I decided to wait until the next day to reach out. Still no tracking info, so I decided to call - no answer, jumped into chat - waited for over an hour, no response, so I decided to send an email - just asking if he can email the tracking number directly to me.  Three days pass, no response to my emails. I try chat, no response - sent another email - nothing.  I wait another 2 days.. and tried calling again. This time he answers, when I asked for the tracking number he tells me the gun is sitting on his counter and will ship tomorrow..  "Um, this is what you told me almost  a week ago.". His response in a very angry tone: "Fine then I'll just cancel your order, goodbye".. and he hangs up..  I called back trying to figure out what's going on.. it rings 7 or 8 times and a lady answers, at that time I didn't care to do business with them, so I just confirmed with her whether I would see a credit on my charge or whether I would need to call my credit card company and dispute it.  A couple days later I received a refund.  As others have mentioned, this guy doesn't appear to be totally honest and is a bit of a hot-head when he's called out.  I can't recommend doing business with them due to my experience.  Sorry Matt, a little honesty and forthrightness goes a long way. I could have waited a little longer for my shipment if you had just explained yourself and not lied to me. Do not make purchases online Check other reviews and it's clear to see that this seller does not value customer service. They have terrible reviews all over Yelp and even the BBB. In my case, no tracking number was ever issued and when I inquired almost a week later, I was told it was "out the door tomorrow." Cool, waited several days; no tracking number. Reached out again and was told, "we're closed today, will check tomorrow when we open." Okay, cool. 2 days pass, no response and no tracking number. When inquired a 3rd time, they cancel the order. Fine, because at this point I wanted a refund anyway. Lesson learned, trust the online reviews when the majority are negative. read more
