I have been looking into dessert shops in the Cambridge area and decided to give Tiny Cakes a try first since it is right down the street from my gym (go figure). I really enjoy that they post their daily selections on Facebook and their website. They had a large selection of sweet treats and breads available even near closing time. Food: I ordered a German chocolate cupcake, an eggnog tiny cake, and a pink macaroon. The eggnog tiny cake's frosting was quite sweet but the cake itself balanced it out very nicely, leaving you with a true eggnog flavor. The pink macaroon was not shaped like a classic macaroon but was rectangular and had three distinct layers. On top was a very sweet, pink frosting, then the coconut mixture, and finally a hard crust on bottom. Unfortunately, I did not like it at all. Lastly, I had the German chocolate cupcake. The cake was very moist and the classic German chocolate frosting was tasty. Service/Location: The service was great as I was welcomed when first arriving and afterwards there was always someone ready to assist me. Since the bakery is downtown there is ample parking and other shops to explore but the area can get busy. Price: I paid $4.00 for the German chocolate cupcake, $3.75 for the eggnog tiny cake (though in the display the price was listed at $4.00), and $2.35 for the pink macaroon. Overall, a decent value. Conclusion: Based on these three desserts, I was not overly impressed. Perhaps I would enjoy some of their other desserts more, therefore in the future I may return to see what else they have to offer. read more

Tiny cakes use special ingredients in their cupcakes and cakes (healthier options) so do not expect to take a bite into a normal tasting cupcake! Their icing is a sugar free healthier option as appose to a normal icing. If you have an authentic sweet tooth and want to enjoy an authentic treat without the healthy; I wouldn't suggest this place. They also tend to get quite snappy against hater reviews online.. Not a good look. read more

Ordered a birthday cake for my husband and it was delicious! I ordered the chocolate peanut butter classic cake. Three layers, with peanut butter butter cream frosting in the inside layers. The outside frosting was chocolate butter cream. Sheer perfection. Not too sweet. Even the peanut butter frosting was not overpowering, more subtle. I will be back to try a drip cake. They made my son's Baptism cake which was a Knotty Pine Buttered Almond (one of my favourites from the shop) that had shaved almonds all around the cake. It was a simple non fondant cake, but perfect for the occasion and we loved it! We also ordered a variety of 5 different flavours (chocolate vanilla, triple chocolate, blueberry pie, vanilla bean, and red velvet) of 50 mini cupcakes. Yum. Yum. Yum! Some good friends had us over for dinner in Cambridge and picked up a variety of their delicious cupcakes for dessert. Not only were they beautifully presented but also incredibly tasty. They were quite large so the 4 of us cut them up to allow us each to sample the different offerings. Lots of variety to choose from. I was able to sample the carrot cake (amazing!), peanut butter chocolate (um, amazing!), and the coconut creme (can I just say amazing?!?). I wish I had room to try the triple chocolate. They also had an apple pie flavour, and lemon as well as some sort of almond flavour. The prices varied but seemed to be between 3 and 4 dollars each which seemed very worth it for what you got. I wish I lived closer..,and this is coming from someone who is not that into cupcakes. Well done Tiny Cakes! read more

This shop is pleasantly located in downtown Galt, right across from city hall. The cute decor of this little bakery is just the icing on top of the perfectly delectable cupcakes. My boyfriend and I have been meaning to stop by this shop since we moved to Cambridge. Today was the day that we finally got to visit and change the cupcake game forever. The staff were so amazing and knew everything about all of the products inside the store, we were very indecisive but the staff helped point out all of the most popular items. We had the creme Brule cupcake as well as the famous knotty buttercreme. The cake was light and fluffy, packed with so much flavor. The icing was so sweet, a little too sweet for my taste buds but I was warned. As good as it gets in the proximity of the city! They have great variety and great taste in each. They can also make each flavor in to full size cakes if ordered ahead of time (24 hours ahead?) I had my cannoli first which was really good. And then I had the famous knotty pine which personally speaking I found it to be way too sweet..when I took a bite of the Black Forest one later, I almost felt like it was tasteless. But I think I will return to try more of their flavours like "the world's best carrot cake". It's a cute little shop in downtown Cambridge with friendly staffs. read more

This is the real deal, whether you need a treat, birthday cake alternative, or wedding desserts the cakes at Tiny Cakes are wonderful. I especially like carrot cake which I think is one of their specialties. Tiny Cakes is by far the best bakery in Waterloo Region. If you compare the size and taste of their cupcakes there is no comparison. Their salted caramel cupcake is without rival. I chatted with the owner and she graciously complemented other bakeries for their decorating skills, I will say that decorations are all good and well but if you want the best flavour, quality and value, go no further. read more

We had Tiny Cakes make our wedding cake. It was a cupcake tower for about 100 people. We worked with Jen who was wonderful helping us figure out what flavours to choose and how we wanted it to look. The end product was beautiful and delicious; everything you want in a wedding cake. Cost wise, I found they were on par with other vendors in the Cambridge area, however they had a few more options to choose from, which we liked.
