It was a pleasure dealing with Tip Top from start to finish. Jessica was more like a hostess than a salesperson. Their pricing was more than competitive, and the quality of the Ashley sofa we bought appears to be outstanding. Finally, the delivery came just a bit later than we were told, but we can certainly overlook that. The delivery team really broke their a*ses on a difficult just-barely-made-it tight delivery. We just moved up this way from Long Island, where furniture stores are a dime a dozen. I am very glad I found Tip Top. This company stands behind their merchandise and will do whatever is needed when something is not right. Seth (mistakenly called "Eric" by me) came out to look at my concern and the owner herself got involved and did everything to make sure we were satisfied. With the Covid 19 pandemic, that hit, even though forced to close for a period. They did the right thing once they could reopen! They have made us return shoppers for sure. Tip Top Furniture has been serving my family and many of our family friends for at least a few generations (if not four). It is a family run business that has expanded over the decades, but not so much that they don't give every customer amazing personal attention. They are in tune with trends as well as classics, and have competitive pricing and delivery. They also put some great information and photos on their Facebook page now. Definitely highly recommend them...I'm really surprised at some of the bad reviews. I don't know anyone who has had a bad experience with any Tip Top location. read more

Very disappointed with the service I received at Tip Top. Visited the store this past weekend on Saturday and spent a ton of time picking out a couch. We finally settled on the Ashley Hogan Sofa and Loveseat. It was my error to purchase this - as the love seat was not in the show room. When I got home that evening I realized that the items would not fit, after reviewing the love seat specifications online. I called them first thing Sunday morning to cancel the order. The individual on the phone seemed irritated by my request and said there was nothing she could do for me. She said my sales person would call me first thing Monday AM. I asked for another salesperson and was told she was with a client. I found that hard to believe as they opened at 11 and I called at 11:03... They were dismissive and told me they had already placed my order and that there was nothing they could do. I asked for a supervisor and was not allowed to speak with one... This is not even 24 hours later. I then called my credit card company and we conference called the store. They were SO polite and changed their tune so quickly. They reversed the charge and canceled the order without issue. It is unfortunate that I had to go to such measures. A little customer service goes a long way. If they would have even told me to come into the store and take a look around for another couch, or even offer me a store credit - they would have gotten my business, repeatedly. However, I won't be returning nor will I be recommending Tip Top furniture in the future. Shame. read more

I have been buying my furniture exclusively from Tip Top for over 20 years and will continue to do so. You can't beat their prices or their small town service. There is no pressure to buy and they are more than accommodating whether in person, over the phone or via email. My first experience was when my husband and I moved into our first house and I was looking for a dining set. I went to tip top first, Ken Dudley was helping me, I looked at what they had in the showroom but they didn't have anything I wanted. Ken then showed me all the catalog options and I found a set that I loved but was hesitant to buy it without being able to see the quality and workmanship firsthand. He said he understood and thanked me for the opportunity. I then went to three furniture stores in Albany. The first two stores also didn't have anything that I loved - and one store they literally followed me around and if I even stopped to look at something the salesperson was all over me! - very uncomfortable. But I walked into the third store and just as I walked in they had the EXACT set that I saw in the catalog at Tip Top Furniture! I was thrilled! I priced the set and left. I went home and called Ken to ask for his price. His price was nearly 20% lower!! I ordered the set from Ken and they made a customer for life! Every experience since then has been great. Ken is no longer there but every person I have dealt with has been pleasant and accommodating. I even ordered a trundle bed and mattress one time through only email because I didn't have time to get into the store! Donna Mae sent me photos and pricing and made the transaction as smooth as quick as possible. I have absolutely no complaints and would recommend Tip Top to anyone. read more

Buyers beware! (Let me preface all comments by stating that over the last 13 years, I have purchased almost ALL of my furniture from this store.) I was shocked the other day when i entered the store for their big Inventory sale to see some ridiculous pricing. you are overwhelmed by the large tags indicating a markdown of over 50% on most pieces of furniture and THINK you're in for a great deal, but... I've done my research and know how much many pieces of furniture should sell for. I proved my suspicions when I looked at the same exact dining room set (in the same spot in the store as it was last year) minus 2 extra chairs that we ordered. The price was almost $400 MORE (remember, minus 2 more chairs) than what we paid for it last year! I felt horrible because most of the people in the store were Senior Citizens who probably wanted to avoid the 30 minute trip to Albany. Shame on you Tip Top Furniture for scamming your local residents and setting a horrible example in honest business! And for those of you who might find this interesting, note that I am sending a letter to the owners. My advice - go to Albany! read more

I've bought two couches from this store and had a very pleasant experience, so now when I needed another couch, it was a no brainer to come here again, unfortunately this experience wasn't as pleasant. I have a small apartment, so I purposely picked out a small couch. The earliest they could deliver it was Friday (about a week after I bought it) so I took off work because they said it would be delivered between 1p and 4p, but they would call a half hour prior to let me know they were on there way. At eleven am they called and said they were outside of my apartment. I was 45 minutes away from my apartment, as it was so early. They then told me they would leave and come back around 1p to deliver it again. Around that time, I received another call saying they were outside of my apartment, however I didn't see them. It turns out, they were at my mothers apartment (45 minutes away from mine) because that was my billing address. Apparently they didn't see the address to deliver it to, was different. They gave me the option that they could either come straight up and deliver it, or make their other deliveries and deliver mine at the end of the day. I told them whatever was easier for them, as long as I was getting my couch that day I was fine. Finally, at 5p they came to my apartment. I live on a third floor apartment building. They were unable to get he couch in however, as the last corner in the hallway (few feet from my door) was too sharp a corner. One of the delivery men was very nice and helpful, while the other man seemed to "give up." I understand that it was their last delivery and it was a hot day, on a third floor, but he didn't seem to even try, and wasn't very polite. The next morning, I went straight to the store to talk to someone about my options now. They said they would give me a store credit to buy another couch. I pointed out that I would have to get something smaller, which would be cheaper, so where does the difference in price go. They said it would stay as store credit. I told them that my biggest concern was the fact that I had taken time off from work, and I was afraid I would have to now wait another week or too for the next one to be delivered. The lady seriously said "Okay, what do you want me to do about that?" I would have liked to say that they should try and squeeze me in that weekend, instead I just asked if they could waive the next delivery fee. Basically she said no, and then they told me that they wouldn't refund the initial 75 dollar delivery fee either. When I told them they hadn't delivered anything, the lady told me that they still had to take the drive and that counts. I said that wasn't very fair. She then said "You're the one who came to this store and bought a couch that was too small for your apartment... That's not my fault, it's yours." I asked if I could just get a refund on the couch, because at this point, I didn't want to buy anything from them when they were being so rude. (I did not vocalize my feelings why, just wanted the refund) She said she could give me a partial refund. She was very unhelpful. I asked if I could talk to the manager, and she was much more polite but still couldn't give me a full refund. I was obviously upset but did not yell or have an attitude, in fact I was more on the verge of tears as I am a college student and don't exactly have the funds to be losing out on money. Finally the manager cut me off and said "It's just not happening, you're not getting a full refund today." I began to say something else and she simply got up and walked away from me in a huff. Without further explanation, they gave me the partial refund and dismissed me. Very unprofessional and rude. I understand if it's their policy, but the way they handled the situation and the attitude they gave me was very uncalled for. Won't be shopping there again. read more
