The lodge is pretty and there's a free continental breakfast. If you're on your way to Medora/Theodore Roosevelt National Park and not going to make it all the way, this is a great spot to rest for the night.

For some reason, his card declined, so he called the property and Laura confirmed our reservation and said we could just pay upon arrival. A few minutes later, someone ran our card again and it went through. 4 minutes after that, Laura called and told my husband that he's also on the "do not rent to list" My husband has also never been to North Dakota. The fact that they charged us only to inform us a few minutes later they were refusing to rent us a room, smells like fraud to me. After we got to town, my husband went inside the hotel to ask for his money back and the front desk clerk called the police on him! Not sure what shenanigans this place is up to, but, probably best to watch for fraudulent charges from here.

Must be the German. Sometimes I give out more stars to a place when they are the only provider of a certain service in an area, but not in this case. Now believe me, I look forward to the next time I have the opportunity to ring the bell at the Guest House front desk and sign on the dotted line. The issue is that I have stayed in a LOT of hotels, and the Guest House is not the Ritz-Carlton, nor anything like it. So, three stars = A-OK. So if you need to stay overnight in Carter County, call the Guest House right away. You won't find better for miles.

He finally comes out and we tell him our reservation and he disappears for another 10 minutes. Comes back and tells us that he "upgraded" us to a king suite. Which was just a king size bed. No other bed and we had 3 people, and just wanted the room that we had booked. WE HAD ALREADY PAID OUR DEPOSIT.The atmosphere was genuinely so awful, cabinets broken, and there was such a stale foul odor to the place. The first thing i thought when i walked in was "i'm gonna get bed bugs" My advice: Don't hire someone that's not gonna work and do their job properly. And more advice: don't stay here unless you want hepatitis!

Right in the center of a teeny tiny town, walking distance to cafe, bar, post office (were talking less than one block) There is a school with a great playground in front, and an rv park that has 3or4 hookups and a playground just around the corner. If we are ever back in SD we will stay here again
