Behold, tipsy pig dishes. A backyard burger ($20.95), with added bacon ($2.25), and a side Mac and cheese ($3.95), carbonara ($24.95) and baked Brie ($17.95). Baked Brie was great, especially with the honey toasted crostini. I highly recommend this as a starter for sharing. But dont eat too much, because the entrees are quite large. My carbonara was absolutely delicious. I'm not usually one to order pasta, but I'm glad I did. It was creamy, flavourful and honestly extremely filling. My only critique is to lower the portion size and price of the dish. Same with the pesto gnocchi, which my friend ordered. The cheeses are good quality. If there's one thing I learned about Alberta is that they don't fuck around with burger patties. Unlike Regina, Calgary usually provides good quality beef. Tipsy Pig serves HANDCRAFTED patties, high quality and they taste great. But the real star of the entire dinner was the Mac and cheese. It was so good that I had to ask the server how they make it. The secret is apparently simplicity, just Parmesan and cream. They got the balance down perfectly. Our only critique with the burger was that the bun was obviously previously frozen, which is unfortunate because it was good quality... but the defrosting process made the bottom part tough. Buckle up, it's a long one - From the time we arrived at the Tipsy Pig it was a sour experience. I sat down and before I could get my jacket off the waitress asked what I would like to order, quick service was not the issue, what put me off was when my friend offered me a glass of her bottle of wine she had already ordered and I accepted our server rolled her eyes and walked away (I can only guess she was annoyed I wasn't buying anything new??). A bit later when she came back around, I asked about a flavour of wings and her response was "I have no idea, I don't eat that". It really felt like every time I ordered I was inconveniencing her. When I asked for the bill and confirmed that my husband and my orders were on the same bill her response was, "well I guess I could put them back together" (my husband and I clearly came in together and had it truly been a problem she could have handed me 2 bills and I could add them together). The only time our server was friendly was when she brought the machine over for payment. Second and bigger issue of the night - My friend purchased a bottle of wine, on the menu it was priced at $43, when the bill came the price was $49. When pointing out the $6 discrepancy to the server her response was, "let me see what I can do". Already this is a strange response to a mistake, which tells me she already knew what happened. She comes back and says that the price has changed and they are allowed to change the price without notice because there is an asterisk on the menu stating that the price can change at any time. It was pointed out that the wine was purchase off the drink menu that does not have the asterisk, this disclaimer was only stated on the food menu not the drink menu. The server went to get the manager. When the manager came by our table his response was similar, the cost to purchase the wine had gone up to $29 a bottle so they upped the price, the menu is over 9 months old and hasn't been updated with the current pricing, the asterisk covers both menus even though it was only printed on the food menu. My friend pointed out that she only ordered off the drink menu and didn't look at the food menu and the manager said, "well the lawyers said we could get away with it". When he saw that we were not just accepting of the fact that they can just increase the price by 12% without so much as a warning prior to consuming it, he stomped off like a child not resolving a thing. There are at least seven other pubs within the immediate vicinity of this one, all with similar food quality, ambiance, and pricing, with the lack of customer service displayed here we will not be coming back to the Tipsy Pig. A couple of suggestions on how to handle this situation in the future- the obvious, print updated menus, how much more effort would it have been to have the "prices will increase without notice" asterisk printed on both the food and beverage menus. In addition to this, when a price increases to such a degree the server should be pointing it out when the item is ordered, not snuck onto the bill after it is too late. "Just so you are aware, the price on this item has increased, do you still want to order it?". As a manager in the same industry, if one of my staff had of handled this situation in a similar manner as your manager they would be getting a reprimand as well as retraining in customer conflict resolution. read more

We came here passing through Calgary, saw good reviews and thought to give it a go. We got the fing jam burger, buffalo chicken pizza and macaroni and cheese as a side. The pizza was TOP NOTCH the dough was great, toppings great and flavor great. Burger was good, a little dry no real sauce other than mayo. But otherwise was pretty good. The Mac & Cheese was not good, very odd textured sauce it was very grainy and bitter, not something to write home about. The beers on tap were good. Service was good. My partner and I are new to Calgary so we are getting the fun task of trying restaurants that are new to us. We had something to celebrate and we googled places to eat at. This came up and the menu looked pretty cool so we decided to give it a try. We went on a Wednesday night and on Wednesdays they have specials on their wings and pizza so that was an added bonus! We tried quite a few things. We ordered the bruschetta which was excellent because the bread was not overly crunch! We also ordered the cauliflower bites which were a hit for me because I'm vegetarian. The sauce I picked for them was hot teriyaki. My partner ordered wings and she went with the rosemary chili sauce. We couldn't decide on which pizza to get so we ordered 3! We ordered the chicken Alfredo pizza, the Memphis pulled pork pizza and the Mac daddy pizza which is just a Mac and cheese pizza with bacon. The order I listed the pizzas is the order we favoured them in. The chicken Alfredo pizza was Bussin'! Such great flavours. The Memphis pulled pork was great and they even add pineapple to it which makes it literally the perfect bite. The Mac daddy pizza was bland. No flavour to it compared to the others we tried. Not sure we would order that one again but it was nice to try it! Our server was super friendly! I don't remember her name but she was very sweet and attentive. There were young men who would walk around and keep the tables clean and take away empty dishes. Which is super helpful when you order a lot! lol. The place had a very nice vibe especially for dates. It was a real mixed bag. I ordered a burger, it was decent. The menu says steak fries, I'm advised their shoestring fries before I ordered. I asked for vinegar for the fries, and he asked me what kind of vinegar I would like, he forgot to bring it the first time but I'm understanding things happen. When it came to the table, it was in a giant ramekin FULL of brown vinegar. I stuck my french fry into it and pulled out a huGe booger Like substance. Gross. They obviously dumped the end of the bottle or something in that bowl but boy that was disgusting and I was pretty much off for the rest of it. The drinks were OK, and the patio looks like it might be a good time. I'm not sure I'll be going back even though we just moved into the neighborhood. read more

We were greeted by a friendly server who was doing her best as she was the only one working on the floor at the time. My friend and I placed our drink order and were browsing the food menu. When our drinks arrived I went to swirl around the beverage with my straw. As I was stirring I noticed something black floating around. Upon further inspection we found three bugs in the drink. Horrified, we notified the server and manager right away in disgust. As a restaurant, there should be health and safety inspections done regularly. Been going to the Tipsy Pig since it opened but since our friends moved away from Evanston last year it was first time in 2023. Greeted by a fine gentleman who sat us on deck, gave us menu and took are drink order. Shortly after a waitress came and we told her are drinks were ordered but she took are food order. All good until she dropped off our beverages, which I had ordered a pint of the House Craft Beer, Lucky Pig Lager, advertised as 16 oz for $5.75. I asked her if this was 16 oz and she said it just looks small but definitely 16 oz. Drank it and it was short for sure, and had another that came in same size mug so I ordered a bottle of beer , drank the draft empty and poured 12 oz, 341 ml bottle beer into the empty mug and it was 12 oz mug. At this point I was instructed to call the owner / manager and he was belligerent , demeaning and at said it was just a misprint on the menu. Told him about the waitress insisting it was 16 oz and he said she doesn't know anything. Told him I would be mentioning this to the ALCB and he said they were just there and all there drink measurements passed. Told me he had been in this business for 30 years and a pint was 20 oz . Sad they lost customers and waiting to see what the ALCB has to say about this. The Pig & Whistle is a kind of strange place to me. It's located in Beddington Mall and has a liquor store attached to it. It just seems like a really random location for a pub to be. Not only are they oddly placed, but the place itself is a little odd. It doesn't really seem like you're in a pub so much as a sports restaurant. There's something about the feel that doesn't give off your regular pub vibe. Maybe it's the high ceilings, or the lack of ID-ing, but I almost think minors would be welcome in this place. That being said, I don't really mind drinking here. Since the place is so big, and there's so much to look at, I've never really had a boring moment here. Granted, I've always had a really funny, interesting waitress serving me, so that definitely adds to the greatness of the experiences. They don't have ridiculous prices, but you're still going to be paying a bit to get a little tipsy. They have plenty of beer and alcohol to choose from, so you'll never run dry at this place. The Pig is a fine establishment, but doesn't get the business it deserves because of its location. read more

First time here and likely the last. WHAT a dump! It appears as though others do like it as it was busy. Ahhh yes, wing night! I would call the crowd "colorful". Some for sure needed a bath - sitting by the door helped break up the BO smell only to have that lovely waft of cigarette smoke come blasting in! The waitresses are self-admittedly clueless and have no idea what is going on. Neglectful of customers and forgetful about the most basic things - drinks, menus X3, napkins X2. Also, one of our batches of wings came out wrong but we ate them anyways. If you like Caesars, do not expect them to come with any pickle, bean, celery or even a lime. But, you will pay a high, fancy price. When you ask politely for a lime for your drink, you will get a look and fruit dryer than the Sahara. 1 extra star for the wings as what did come out were hot and tasty. We had honey garlic, (should have been sweet chili) lemon pepper, garlic pepper and apple whiskey (fave, smoky and sweet). Have I had better wings, yes, have I had worse, hell yes. The food here isn't that good, on multiple occasions I had problems with my food. One time I had hair baked into one of my wings and on another occasion my wings were cooked very poorly and some of them were not edible. Their drink menu is very limited as well. Also the staff there are very rude. Multiple waitresses giving attitude and their service was very poor to say the least. We walked in, the music was depressing to say the least, and it just went downhill from there. When you walk in, there is a sign stating that if you are under 21, they will kick you out on a weekend. I caught word that the pig and whistle was under new managememt. I figured I would give it a go with my wife. We were greeted by Tony whom was working the pasta bar. I must say he was very gracious and hospitable. When we sat down I noticed quite a few changes. Alot less clutter and a much better feel of cleanliness. For our orders I thought I would test Tony and his inner italian. I asked him for a calzone. Without a second of doubt, he asked what I wanted in it, to which I said doesn't matter, your choice.. What we got was simply one of the best calzone I have eaten. If that was made by a stout Nonna in the backroom I would have believed it. The extra hit of mushroom bechemel really rounded out the bit from the Italian punch inside. My wife and I were delighted with the food, and the authentic Italian taste. Great job. Service wasn't that great, we came in and joined friends and we had to flag the server down to order drinks, and again food because she didn't come over to ask even though it wasn't very busy. If you're not facing the large projection screen then it can be hard to watch the game on one of the smaller tvs, so get there before your friends. Schooners, yes please! My wings were over deep fried and extremely dry and crispy, almost no meat left. But they were cheap, and they have some really interesting flavours. This is actually my usual pub. The sort where I know the servers and they know me. Yeah, the other Yelpers are right - it's a weird place. The food is definitely not good (but edible if you're hungry). The crowd is VERY unpredictable. But I go to play pool. They've got really good tables. The regulars there are often pool leaguers and are really friendly, as it turns out! I've made a few friends I really look forward to seeing and my game has improved quite a bit! The bands on the weekend are hit-and-miss, but I've heard some pretty spectacular bands there so that drowns out the mediocre ones. The crowd is an odd mix of ages, styles, reasons for being there, etc. As weird as it is, The Pig makes for some pretty amusing people-watching. The drinks are always cheap though, and I've seldom had any trouble with service. At the end of the night, the cabs are quick to get there for some reason. This is a great little pub if you want to live it up a little on the trashy side. Or if you love playing pool. read more

Been coming here for over a year, mostly for wing night. Not the usual place I would hang out, but once I had the wings I was hooked. Head here for a fun and relaxed night with a non-pretentious crowd, I think you'll enjoy it. Pros: So many awesome flavours of wings you won't know which ones to choose (personal faves are salt & pepper, dill pickle, and apple whiskey - amazing!) Wing night prices - 20 cents from 2 - 9 pm and 25 cents after 9 pm on certain days of the week (Tues & Wed at the time of this writing) Nachos are actually pretty damn good and a huge serving Other menu items are not terrible, just like regular pub food Beer specials Pool tables Karaoke night which is hilarious! My wife and I along with my sister and brother-in-law visited the tipsy pig Evanston for the first time tonight. Although the food was actually quite good, the Presentation was sorely lacking and unfortunately it took an extremely long time to get our order as they lost our order. Our waitress was actually quite amazing, to deal with such a long wait for a meal, plus the missing items. My sister received her meal about 20 minutes before the three of us received ours which was very awkward, but we made it work. The prices were very reasonable, the food was good and the service as I said, from our waitress was amazing. The tipping point for me was when I went to the washroom, an employee came out of the kitchen followed me in and basically did a dump and go. That simple process by itself has determined that I will never return to the tipsy pig in Evenston and it makes me wonder if the one in Beddington has the same mindset. Will I recommend tipsy pig, no, will I ever go back, no. If an employee cannot wash his hands in public it makes me wonder what they do in private in the kitchen. read more

Definately one of my favourite pubs in Calgs. They have pool tables, VLT's, live bands, karaoke, lots of daily drink/food specials and a great staff! I've always liked the way it was set it up and it's always a good atmosphere. One of the worst places to go for drinks. No drink menu. Servers are supposed to know every drink and it's price every day. They don't . Owner is very rude. (Chris) . Often you find the price of the drinks only when you get your bill. This seems to me to be a very , very sleazy way to do business. I would avoid this place at all costs. Went here for a family dinner. Got wings to start,came out luke warm. Ordered 2 kids meals. They didn't get them right. 4 pizza's 1 burned, 1 was wrong pizza, 1 had bad taste like the meat was bad. They do pasta night on Saturday evening. $17 for the biggest plate of pasta I have ever seen. Its set up as a pasta bar. You go up and choose your sauce, noodles, and toppings and they sauté it up for you. All fresh ingredients and homemade sauces. Everyone I saw who had the pasta bar got a to-go container for leftovers. Its that much food. I decided on the $10 lasagna made in-house. Large dish of cheesy saucy goodness. I have only been here once. A friend and I had wings out on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. The waitress was friendly and the manager noticed our table was slightly wobbly and he came over to adjust it without being asked. The wings were a good price and the drinks were good.
