The restaurant is more expensive than others in the area, and it's a little bit of a longer walk than others, but it is well worth it. The food is very well prepared, local as much as possible and of the highest quality.
We dined here first on New Year's Eve. They had a Sylvester menu or you could order off a reduced version of their regular menu with some extra specials. We ordered off the a la carte menu.
Food:
- Fish (char) with risotto was fantastic
- Beef roll with arugula and truffles served with potatoes and an amazing sauce, very good, meat was just a little overcooked
- My sister and brother in law are vegetarian, they ordered a ravioli dish and sweet and sour veggies with rice and they were both very happy
- My dad had pan seared pork chops one night and he said it was the best cooked meat he had all vacation, juicy and flavorful. He had some sort of mixed grill plate the second night and again really enjoyed it.
- Hamburger - very good, but a little fattier than I am used to, probably because it was half beef half pork, but the quality of meat itself was very high and it came with a delicious homemade relish that didn't resemble ketchup but was 10x better.
- The also had a local apple juice that was fantastic
- There were some traditional dumplings, one with cheese, one with spinach, one with some meat I think, those were huge but I am not sure if they were as great as the other food we had.
Service:
There was one young lady who absolutely made us go back. She spoke English very well, answered all our questions, gave suggestions, and moreover accommodated any request we could possibly have. Just an example, my dad really wanted some grilled pork on New Years but it wasn't on the menu. The waitress went and spoke to the kitchen and they were able to make it especially for him, and also make the side he wanted (which again was not on the menu).
Their regular menu was just as good and less pricey than the New Year's menu, and the service was outstanding again.
We discovered this gem after it was recommended by the owner of Kupferstub'n, the best rated restaurant in Kirchberg, after we were unable to make reservations at that restaurant. Than you so much nice lady of Kupferstub'n, we absolutely loved your recommendation!
