I shop at these stores quite a lot (Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Home Goods) at different locations too and this has to be THE worst one of all. Yes, I am a young woman purchasing makeup but that does NOT mean that I'm going to steal it...lay off! I want to shop and think about these potential purchases in peace. Got approached by the same lady twice in 10 mins, craning her neck in the aisle Im standing in and asking if everything has a tag on it. If I tell you Im good, Im good. Dont come up to me the second time few mins later, asking if I want a fucking cart! I know where the carts are, Ill go and get one if I need one. And yesss all these items are mine. Can you BE anymore obvious??? Out of all theseee people here, shes hounding me! Go hound someone actually Going To Steal!!! And the cashiers! Theres another "gift". They move with the speed of like a disabled turtle, chatting between each other while ringing you up. And dont open and gush over what the hell Im buying. Yes, open...One actually opened a lipstick right in front of me to see the color n was gushing showing ut to her neighbor cashier...... wtf is that?! Im about to own that in 2 seconds and dont appreciate u palming my product. Bottom line, the only thing thats good are the prices. This store is a disaster!!! Messy, disorganized and with garbage selection of crap nobody wants. It's like they send all the really shitty stuff here in hope of a sale. Finally a standard size department store has arrived in the Midwood area in Brooklyn! This TJ Maxx is a tad smaller than the ones in Long Island but the same type of selection is available - Home goods, clothes (petites and plus sizes included), shoes (size 6 and above, size 5.5 and under almost obsolete), a clearance section, bags (designer and "regular"), food, spices, Christmas leftovers. You need to dig to find something. Bought a rug here - made in Belgium, sold for half the retail price, good quality. The lines, as usual, was long. Average wait time is 5-10 minutes. I buy all my luggage from TJ Maxx - most of them are brand names and of high quality. read more

When I moved to Brooklyn I was extremely excited that TJ Maxx was actually in walking distance of my home...They have a great selection of brands that I never saw in Jersey like Joe's, Rag and Bone,etc...but going there can be such a nightmare. The people that work there are very friendly and I'm always helped by someone who is very personable...but the people that shop there are straight up SAVAGE animals. I literally have been stomped over by carriages and actually had someone grab a lotion out of my hand while I was reading the ingredients label. Sometimes there can be long lines that wrap around quite a bit but if you go there early mornings or saturdays you'll most likely beat the rush. read more

Clean store but lacks in organization. The lines tend to be crazy so the best time is to go early in the day or during week days - evenings and weekends are horrible! There is very little furniture, so don't go looking for that. Good selection of purses, womens clothes, cosmetics, mens clothes, and decent amount of home goods. The store itself wasnt too bad, the mens dept is really small but my major issue is the service at checkout. There were 5 people on the registers and 4 of them looked miserable and it seemed as if they were intentionally going slow while the one girl on the endwas cranking out people fast as she could...meanwhile the evening manager stood up there chatting on the phone with her friend about her plans tonight and watched the line grow....3 people got out of line and left disgusted. I would have done the same if I didnt have to have what I was buying immediately....45 MINUTES LATER I finally got to pay. This place is super convenient with cheap prices. I like that the security guard, doesn't matter who it is, ALWAYS greets people walking in. In a lot of ways your typical TJ Maxx - ie: you have to have to have patience and be prepared to sort through things to find what you want. Be prepared to wait on a long line to check out. Very rarely have I found that the line is short-ish, or moves relatively quickly - think christmas time shopping lines year round. At first I attributed this to the fact that they had barely any people at the registers. But it's not entirely the store - it's also the patrons who shop there. A lot of times the patrons will just drop something on the ground, and stare at it, or toss something around instead of putting it back where it belongs. This creates more work for the workers there, and means they can spend less time on the registers. Also, the patrons are super pushy and obnoxious. Maybe it's the people waiting in line for a long time, maybe it's because they are just plain rude, but I've see many a person get into an argument on line with another person on line. I myself had to tell a woman to back off me when she was standing literally on top of me. After I told her to back off, she complained I had poked her several times with my purse. I pointed out she wouldn't have gotten hit by my purse, if she hadn't been standing so close to me. It's a little annoying that a lot of the items are broken or stained. Mostly because I have to bring it back after realizing it - which means I have to stand on that line. But the most frustrating I would say is, there is two registers that frequently has issues with credit cards. Not just mine, but my co workers as well, and I've seen it happen to other people checking out as well. At least one of my credit cards has a very... large limit, and it was completely paid off and when I tried to pay with it, it came back insufficient funds. I tried a different credit card. Nope. Now this is not only embarrassing, but I know my cards are perfectly okay. Then one of my co workers tried to pay with her card... that also didn't work. Then my other co-worker. We ended up paying in cash. But the cashier refused to believe it was her machine claiming instead that it was our credit cards. Maybe she didn't know how to run the cards. It's happened more than once here too. Now I just try to remember to bring cash - and for the record, not only did I flip out and call the credit card company (my card was fine), but I managed to go on a small shopping spree later that day, and my card managed to pay for all of that. read more

Having shopped at this store quite a bit since my earlier review, I absolutely had to update my review to reflect a much greater understanding of the rather chaotic state this store is often in - a LOT of their customers are just flat-out PIGS! They seem congenitally incapable of putting merchandise (mostly women's clothes, frankly) back where they got it - putting it down, or more precisely, randomly dropping it, anywhere from 2 racks away, to the floor, to the racks up by the check-out line. I have not seen this sort of thing at any of the other NYC TJ Maxx's I've shopped at -- it truly boggles the mind. The icing on the cake is that the majority of these people then just leave their (now empty) shopping carts and baskets randomly along the way from their cashier station to the door - rather than bothering to wheel or carry them all of 15 feet to the spot allocated for them.. Notwithstanding all that, the employees are invariably friendly, helpful and work pretty damn hard to keep things in order, constantly re-shelving items and generally roaming around picking things up where they've been left 2-3 "departments" away from where originally came from. I really don't know how the store's staff deals with it and somehow manages to keep smiling. (Maybe they put something in the water in the break room? [lol] Just kidding!) Still, I can only give it 3 stars because the selection of men's clothing is pretty damned slim. Maybe they are, or at least think they are, catering to a primarily female audience, but I see an awful lot of guys there, too, and suspect they could sell more men's clothes than they currently do. But this is an issue at other TJ Maxx's too - only a few of their NYC stores seem to have a really decent selection of men's clothes. But my two biggest pet peeves with TJ Maxx aren't store-specific - they happen at all of the ones I've been in. First, they're really, really careless about placing anti-theft tags,at least in men's clothes. Putting them with the large side facing IN, right at shirt collars, or on the waistline of pants, is not only uncomfortable when you try them on (which would be livable with), but makes it literally impossible tell if the clothes really fit. Those things are BIG -- shirt collars and pants' waists are the last place you need a big 3/4" hunk of plastic getting between you and the garment. I've returned many an item after buying it just to be able to properly try it on (and I can't be the only one), which seems like a waste of everyone's time, as well as somewhat of a drain on their costs. The second peeve is with what they're NOT too embarrassed to put out for sale in the clearance areas. (Sometimes badly) stained, or torn, clothing, chipped and sometimes actually broken glassware and food storage containers, and various housewares missing entire pieces from the boxes, "of course" without any indication of that on the outside of the boxes. It's really pretty despicable. But again, this appears to be pretty clearly a chain-wide policy - I've seen it at Marshall's and Home Goods, too - not something within the control of individual stores' managers. read more

There is ALWAYS a line. No matter what time of day you will have to wait. Its amazing how the store gloats how they have cheap prices but the items look returned and relabeled. Store is always unorganized and the line is always insane! There are good stuff sometimes if you get lucky but most of the time its the same crap for months! Put all the money you can in your meter and empty your bladder beforehand because this location is understaffed and you WILL spend half hour in line. The neighborhood crowd doesn't help much either..go on a Friday evening or you'll be stuck in line with big mouth yentas or Jewish women with kids 1 year apart running all over the place because they can't control them. Probably one of the worst tj maxx locations I have been to, not because of the employees but the people that go there. The store is always a mess with huge and I mean like 30 min lines always, I've been many times at different times and it's rare to find a line under 10 min. People come make a mess everywhere lots of kids there also running around. It's very crowded and hard to shop this way. The shoe aisles are narrow and the clothing aisles lots of people everywhere.. I prefer going online now, just wish they didn't take so long to ship my items, waiting two weeks now and still haven't shipped my stuff. A lot of the clothing in the store looks dirty and worn also. Probably because it's been dropped on the floor and stepped on.. or actually worn and return. The other day the fitting room didn't have any ac, it was like a 100 out that day. This isn't the first time there was no ac in there. Also the fitting room looks like it's never been cleaned with clumps of dust in each room. read more

Went to look for leggings. Store was very cluttered and not clean. Things were unorganized. You have to really look at things one by one. It was very crowded but very short staffed. Hard to get help unless u wait online for a cashier which was way too long of a wait. They had nice bags that were organized by color. Ugh I'm honestly being lenient by giving this place three stars . I'm leaning towards two after my Christmas shopping last night . In general this store is a hit or miss, throughout the years I've been lucky to find great designer items for less ranging from Michael kors kate spade to Vince camuto , but to actually find the items themselves is always a nightmare . This store never has the right clothes in the right size rack, it never has the right shoes in the right size shelf , and the bags are not always organized properly when it comes to designer . The makeup and bath products are always opened , the seal is broken, the items are damaged . I find all the jewelry opened out the boxes , nice designer items are all over the floor as if people stepped on them , are they kidding me?. The xmas and party gift bags were also all over the floor and were tangled , I couldn't find the tissue paper in the right isle . The only isles that are organized are the luggage and home sections on a good day , I find tons of great kitchen tools candles and towels to bedding for less , especially Ralph Lauren and kate spade to kitchen aid . I also like the unique gifts I found from Moscow mule cups to wine carafes and flukes . I also liked the cool board games like mini poker and mini checkers . They also have some interesting electronics as far as speakers and headphones . I even managed to find golf gear for much less which is hard to find . The worst part of this store is the customer service . The fitting rooms are filthy and unattended half the time . And the lines are super long despite the fact that there is ten cashiers . The cashier I had was so dumb that she forgot to put in my tissue paper that I purchased , and she didn't know where to find a price tag when it was clearly on the bottom of the bag , she rolled her eyes when she realized I was right and all she said was ugh my bad . Overall this store has a great range of products for a great price , but half the stuff is damaged anyway so beware . This store needs to improve on many things ! read more

On 6/09/2018 around 11:30 a.m., I went to the TJ Maxx on 15th Street & Kings Highway. I grabbed one item, a Colossal Foot Rasp for $6.99 to purchase and got on the very long line. As I stood on line for already about 10 minutes, one of the sales associates came over to me and told me that since I had one item to go over to the jewelry counter to pay for my item. I would like to add that the Colossal Foot Rasp section was approximately 2 feet from the jewelry counter. When I arrived at the jewelry counter, there were two women who were just standing there, not busy at all or helping any customers behind the jewelry counter. One of the women (she was rude) told me she could not ring up my item. I just left it there and exited the store because I had lost my spot in the main checkout line and had no idea who I was behind or in front of! read more

What's the deal with this TJ Maxx? I don't buy clothing out of here, because majority of the styles just look "dreadful"! I stick to the beauty section and the home section. The linen spray, body washes, and lotions etc. are pretty unique and definitely reasonably priced. But beware SHOPPERS the real problems are the workers in this place. Ugh! I have witnessed plenty of arguments between shoppers and TJ Maxx staff?!? It's disturbing because the managers are standing by and not doing anything. On one occasion the cashier rang up an item of mine twice and when I saw the mistake by her she tried to deny that it was charged twice. Upon review and inspecting the final receipt, it was INDEED charged twice and she had to return one charge back to my card. Let's say she was pissed and wasn't sure how to return a "charge" without the item. I said "just take the lotion and scan the code and then refund it to the card, how hard is that?!?". She finally completed the return, but I promised I wouldn't go anywhere near her register in the future. I can't be a shopper and also a detective figuring out how to solve a "case". read more

This store is FILTHY. Items strewn all over the floor. I wouldn't even venture into the lingerie department. I've been shopping here since the store first opened and things just keep getting worse! The restrooms are deplorable. The smell is enough to knock you over. Feces on the toilet seats week in, week out. No organization and the employees are miserable. The worst jewelry stuff I had ever encountered in TJ max today.Usually I go there for clothings and other accessories. I was pretty satisfied except the long line. But, today I went there for my aunty's birthday gift on the jewelry counter area. I was waiting for the stuff to take out the jewelry I want. I saw her was busy for another customer so I wait for her like 15 mins. Then I saw her finish with that customer and she saw me wait for her. But her reaction was nothing just pretending not seeing me. Then I called her to come here to help me take out the jewelry that simple. She gave me a cold face say to me to sign first. What???? Sign ??? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I just need her take out the jewelry in the counter and she was not busy at that time. Of course I didn't sign and left!! I'm a long time Tj Maxx customer but today it was a bad experience with this location (1620 East 15 st. Brooklyn NY 11229) Today I slipped on the wet store floor and didn't get immediate help. They took 10 minutes to hand me over paper towel and didn't clean or warn other people about that puddle of water.They don't even put a sign or come in action until I slipped. The workers were lazy to help the customers. I was all wet and soaking .I was warning others customers about that wet floor instead of their employees .The employee named Gayle.P was there taking care of situation told me to wait in the long line,when I asked her to help me to check out early as I'm all wet and in pain in my back and also late for my work. Her behavior was impropriate towards me.At last when I asked for manager and told her what just happened. She helped me right away to check out and apologizes for what just happened to me. Finally, I learned from this incident that the Tj Maxx employees are not helpful and are unprofessional. If they keep treating their customers like that then this will affect their business. read more
