A furious search later and we came upon 809. When I saw that the name and colors were legit, I felt good about bringing him here. We walked in on a Wednesday night and we were the only people in the bar. At the time, they were transitioning from being a bar & restaurant to just a bar. That meant that I would not be enjoying any mangu or sancocho. No me gusta. After sidling up to the bar* and having the bartender pick the wrong one of us to be Dominican, I opted to have a strong rum drink since I wouldn't be enjoying any food. She asked what I wanted and I told her to surprise me. Some blending later, I had a perfectly strong rum drink to make me feel like I was going to the islands. She told us that the weekend is the top time to check 809 out. From the ample bar space and pool tables in the venue, I thought that sounded right. She also mentioned that, to her knowledge, this was the only Dominican bar/restaurant in the Nashville area. That's just crazy. I know Nashville is still growing and the city hasn't fully settled into what it's going to be but... Imma need Nashville to hurry up and attract more of my peoples.** For right now, 809 is a solid 3.5 for me. The lack of food is a bummer and I'd need to see the joint in full swing to go up/down but for what I experienced, I appreciated what they're doing and I hope they have the business to support it. I tried their Sancocho (Caribbean beef stew) and Tacos (al pastor and Chorizo) which were excellent. Their tacos are very well seasoned and not too greasy. As an appetizer I recommend the fried plantains and fried yuca with Chicharrón. People are very friendly; do not be surprised if someone invites you to dance salsa or bachata. I really enjoyed this place; I highly recommend it.

I go into TNT's Billiards Bar and Grill often. There is always a nice environment. I know the owners Tim and Tracy and they are very welcoming and accommodating to me and my guests and to all that enter the bar. The food is excellent. They even have better than Ireland's steak and biscuits with shoestring fries cooked to perfection. The buffalo shrimp is out of this world. They are continously adding items to the menu to meet their customers needs. The place itself is large enough to accommodate many different sports and people. We love going down there and meeting new people and watching the night life in south Nashville. They are open 7 days a week and from 10:30-3 am, pretty much all the time. I liked this place at first but I've noticed that they can't keep good employees. The ones they do have that want to work and actually treat their cusomers good they run off. The owners wife is absolutely disgusting!!! No way I'd ever want her to serve me amything. The night bartenders are too caught up in their own thing to even notice when someone needs a new drink. Constantly smoking or talking to their friends over in the corner. And then when you say something they are so rude about it. I'll take my buisness elsewhere. In my opinion they need to hire a whole new staff before the one the have now run off everyone. Especially the night crew that think they are good enough to stand around and do nothing and get tipped. read more

This bar is not a good place to go to. Employees are rude, the owner's girlfriend is a drunk and drinks while working. I've been there a couple of times and noticed bugs in various places. Animals are being brought inside a place where food is sold. That's very unsanitary. The bartenders are always on their cell phones and never pay attention to customers. I also brought a minor with me and no I.d was asked for and they served my under aged daughter a alcoholic beverage. We left soon as that happened. This place needs to be shut down because its against the law for minors to be served alcohol. If you want to go have fun at a safe and clean place, TNT is not the place to go to. read more

We frequent this bar. It serves its purpose. Cheap beer, cheep pool, and generally no complaints. One big one. The "owner's wife" / bar manager needs a serious lesson in customer service. For god sakes, the burps....the farts.....the loud obnoxious conversations that is apparently meant for "locals" discourages any beer loving pool playing person from ever returning here. I have seen plenty walk out because they were simpy disgusted. So a tip.....when you go go at night when Liz or Charlie is working and the alcoholic bar manager has left. Your visit will be greatly enhanced by her NOT being there. This place needs to replace her to survive. Stay classy TNT. read more

This place was absolutely amazing...., the only issue i had, was the bigger bartender, (Charlotte??) or something like that was extremely rude to me and others around me. She just seemed more interested in over-pouring (i used to bartend i know) her friends, and smoking a ciggarette then she did about making sure her customers needs were met. Hell, i'm a simple person, give me a bud, and the occasional jack and coke, and i'm a great tipper, but needless to say if i do go back i won't be sitting at the bar if she's their anymore. At one point she litterrrally ignored me cause she was texting, How does she even have a job. read more

TNTs Billiards is a great place to go and unwind after a busy day at work. The place is clean and very open with a welcoming staff. Lots of video games to play with pool tables, darts and lots of TV's for the sports. Food is good and on Friday and Saturday nights they have live music with dancing and lots of fun. read more
