So we went to the lake. This lake was located right around the corner from our Airbnb. Its very easy to find and if you get here early enough there is lots of parking. We just brought our towels and swim suits and picked a spot on the grass near the sand. It was a very sunny day out in Washington. The kids headed right out and walked out to the floating decks. They were able to jump off and swim around. They had so much fun. We were here all day. They have a small snack shack with limited options. We got ice cream at some point. Then suddenly the kids and my husband decided that they wanted to take a paddle boat out into the lake. I had no interest. They had a good time. I personally thought it was too windy and at some point my husband had jump out and swim push the boat back to the shore. He made sure to let the people working that they should warn people that the wind may make it very hard to paddle back to shore. All in all it was a fantastic afternoon. The kids wanted to come back again but our trip was cut short and the time we did have didn't account for a second visit. Not sure we will ever be back again but we would if we could.

The park is large with much space to run and play, explore and enjoy. Buildings (pavilions, basketball court/gym) are available on the grounds for private rental, and plenty of parking can be found on the property. (On hot summer weekends, parking does fill up quickly.)

We took the lake side trail right along the lake that is level and gravel so nice even on a rainy day like ours. It's just over 6 miles out and back but you could turn around any time. It worth the drive from Bellingham to walk the quiet section of the lake. Great views and a few water falls when there is water flow.

The beach park section of Larrabee park is gorgeous. There's ample parking, then a decent that's…read moreabout a 45 second walk to a grassy lawn and a beautiful stage built in the early 1900s. There were people performing music on the stage and park goers enjoying on the grass. Just to the left of the stage there's a path to the beach. Another 2-3 minute descent brings you to a trail going left and right. The path to the left is a short trail to a rock you can sit on and climb down to get to the water. Further that way there's another beach. The path to the right leads to a nice beach with a great view and a shade tree. There were some bugs in the washed up kelp, but nothing too bothersome imho. We had a stand up paddleboard so we used the path on the right after the stage area. I would recommend anyone bringing gear down (scuba, kayaks, paddleboards) to use this beach. Larger crafts can use the boat ramp just north of this beach, and you can drive right up to that ramp (north of the stage and parking area). It was a beautiful park and a great place to picnic, enjoy the water, and view the sunset!

We headed down to the Larabee State Park boat launch and were greeted by friendly staff and an incredible jumping off point. They got us all set up with a paddle board rental, life jackets and had all of the extras in case we forgot anything. What a great spot to leave from! My daughter (3.5 years old) and I headed out to one of the rock formations where we took a break to explore the tide pools. Then she wanted to stand the whole paddle back! very stable boards and overall a great experience. I think everyone should try it out! What a great way to experience our waterways with very few requierments. Moondance had thought of everything! We will be back this summer for sure!!!

Then you'll see a 50-feet observation deck that's fun to get a view of the park. Then follow the trails through the wetland boardwalk enjoying the marshes and looking for birds, frogs and turtles.
