We ordered a Passover dinner from here and were told 2 entrees, one side of rapini (it came with 5 pieces) and mini brownies would be enough food for us with leftovers. We opened the food containers and immediately thought the vegetable sides were not enough food for us. We plated the food and proceeded to eat our dinner. The fish entree was really good but the portion was extremely small. We plated our meal on small dishes so the food looks big in the picture when it was much smaller in reality. We definitely would have ordered a third entree and more sides if we would have known the portion sizes. Would we come back? Probably not if we can find something better. read more

So good! We ordered food for our Eid holiday and folks at Toben went above and beyond to make sure the food was delivered first thing in the morning. We had their fried rice, fattoush salad, potato salad, cauliflower and asparagus. But the real winners on the menu were the mushroom cakes and flatbread pizza. Flourless chocolate cake and premium cookies were also phenomenal. Can't wait to order from them again! read more

This is a pretty belated post but this Thanksgiving dinner was such an amazing spread! I normally dont celebrate Thanksgiving so this was a first. The turkey leg was juicy and I loved the seasoning or marinade they used. The stuffing was honestly one of my favourite parts of this whole meal too. We (3 people) weren't even able to finish all the meat, so I used some of the turkey breast to make sandwiches and lunch for the next few days. I also still have a few slices of the pumpkin cheesecake in my freezer too (never knew pumpkin cheesecake was so good until now). Everything was packaged and delivered in a neat and organized fashion. Definitely take a look at their site and keep them in mind when ordering holiday feasts! read more

Tried out "Luke", Toben's first series of pop-up dinners and it was fantastic! For $65, we were served a 9-course meal. Even though drinks are not included, this is still a phenomenal value. For my particular meal, all dishes were Asian themed and we especially enjoyed the charred octopus and the Korean fried wings. It's a one star review only because of the irresponsible nature of the catering co-ordinator. We are being charged for what they call a "miscommunication mistake" with the party rentals. Then told 4 days later they managed to get us a partial refund because of their "good connections" with the company but only after we repeatedly tried to get in touch to find out if the charge was on our final bill. On the day catering staff arrived late delaying the set up of our event in time for our guest arrival. Co-ordinator insisted they had sent an email changing the time. We did find that email till the next day - it was sent four minutes before the new revised time on the day of the event. We were rushing around now setting up and not sitting near laptops checking for emails explaining change of times that had been agreed to. No phone call and no reason for the time change given. Our phone calls on the day of the event went unanswered. The food was excellent, a shame that the service was so unprofessional. read more

'Toben Food by Design', is regularly abusive to staff, produces food that is mediocre at best, but worse is that they charge clients a gratuity and then keep it instead of passing it on to the service staff for whom it is intended. I am waiting on my money with interest. read more

Came to Toben's Food Truck at Food Truck Festival Ontario and had set my mind on the Jerk which was Popcorn Fish in Jerk spices. It was a nice in 1 deal because I was getting to try fish in the popcorn style instead of chicken, and I was getting it in Jerk Spices. So it was what i call a steal to have a unique dish such as the Jerk Popcorn Fish. The Jerk was fresh and good. What I liked about it was the flavor throughout every bite. Jerk seasoning is pleasantly spicy but its not overwhelming . If this dish is still available on their menu you should order it . read more

Due to all of the unforeseen changes because of COVID, our plans for a wedding originally scheduled for April 2020, have been postponed, modified, postponed, modified . . . and throughout this roller coaster ride, Toben and his team have been truly incredible. They are helpful, caring, flexible, reasonable, fair, understanding, and an overall pleasure to deal with. This is not the case with every vendor - but with Toben, the experience has been fabulous. We have been ordering food from Toben throughout the year, because their food is absolutely AMAZING! And we can't say enough positive things about their customer service and the overall experience when dealing with them. Really can't say enough good things and would highly recommend this Caterer. Came here for the fashionmag award show at the design exchange and Tebon was the caterer. Probably the best food I have ever had at a venue. Everything was fresh, different and delicious. I wish they had a restaurant but instead I am writing the review here. The food was prepped very nicely with pretty presentation. Easy to eat hor d'oeuvres that didn't cause any mess. Favourite was the ahi tuna, steak tartar and the risotto mushrooms. They did very well on catering to meat and non-meat eaters. read more

Tried Toben Food By Design at the Union Station Food Market (Front Street Foods). I ordered the flatbread (basically pepperoni pizza) and a side of mac & cheese. I was lulled (I think) by the promise of mac & cheese - one of my favourite homecooked items. Overall, not very impressed with the food. Prices were a bit high and the food quality was just "meh". The pizza/flatbread was fine - nice texture of bread and pepperoni was crisp, but overall it just seemed to lack some taste. Same thing can be said about their mac&cheese - it was advertised as 4 cheese mac & cheese with panko but it was very bland. So bland that I thought about adding ketchup to it to give it some flavour. The service was good - the line up was long but the staff seemed in good spirits and worked efficiently. read more

We had Toben cater for our wedding this past November and we were very pleased with the service and food quality. We got the chicken as our main course and it was absolutely fantastic! Moist, well cooked and everyone got a leg (best part in my opinion). Even our vegetarian guests were raving about how fine the veggie meal was. The appetizers were also very good and the staff were very good at organizing our seating arrangement and refilling everyones drinks (even though our seating was a little crazy). Was at the Fashion Magazine #WMCFW awards soirée last night at the Design Exchange. The catering was done by Toben. The hors d'oeuvres were excellent. We tried the steak tartare, shrimp, veggie flatbread, mushroom risotto balls, ahi tuna, chicken sausage bites, tomato pastry, and the duck confit. Honestly the food was amazing. My personal faves were the duck confit, shrimp and flat bread. The food was all bite sized, but definitely impactful flavour wise. There was little to no mess in eating it and the servers came around fairly often. I'm not sure if they are from Toben, but regardless, they were very polite, helpful and funny and engaging. All in all, excellent food and service! read more
