Poor girl had it on and off and couldn't find relief. After explaining her symptoms to Courtney Telfer and her assistant, my sister was left alone in the exam room. While they were standing just outside the door, she overheard the following conversation: Courtney Telfer: "This is all just weird and doesn't make sense." Assistant: "Yeah it is, IF she is even telling the truth." And then they both proceeded to LAUGH. Let that sink in. A patient comes in for help, explains real and ongoing pain, and is immediately dismissed and accused of possibly lying, within earshot. This is not just UNPROFESSIONAL, it is UNACCEPTABLE. No patient should ever be made to feel like they are being judged, dismissed, or accused of dishonesty when seeking medical care. Because of this, my sister will not be returning, and I fully support that decision. Dr. Curry, this is a direct reflection of your staff and your practice. Patients trust your office with their health, and conversations like this destroy that trust instantly. This needs to be addressed immediately to ensure it does not happen to someone else. No one seeking medical care should ever walk away feeling like this. This was my second experience with Courtney, and I am compelled to share it so that others know what to expect if they choose this practice. My appointment was meant to be a med check for a new medication. I had prepared a list of symptoms and real examples of the struggle I was experiencing. At the time, I felt she was being dismissive, but after much reflection, I think she genuinely did not know the answers to my questions. I think she expected the appointment to go one way and when I presented her with what I was experiencing, she did not know how to handle it. It felt dismissive and incredibly frustrating - she did not seem to care or believe what I was saying. When I expressed that I am experiencing debilitating symptoms and that I am not at high risk for abusing medication, she LAUGHED, and said: "Well, everyone is at risk." More importantly, she offered no medical advice or guidance. She did not ask a single follow-up question. At one point, I asked her if she just didn't believe that my diagnosis was real. She stared at me blankly. This experience left me feeling judged and frustrated, and left me with zero confidence in Courtney's clinical judgment or her ability to address my concerns appropriately. I brought my concerns to the practice manager, Clark, but was completely ignored. I documented my concerns and submitted a formal complaint to Curry Family Medicine on 5/6, then sent a follow-up message on 5/19. I never received a response. This practice prides itself on small-town vibes and providing personalized care. My experience tells a different story. Also worth noting, the previous PA, Theresa Tan, and her nurses were AMAZING. I have not met Dr. Curry, but I cannot fathom having my name on a practice and ignoring the concerns of my longtime patients. Curry Family Medicine has shown me that my medical concerns will not be taken seriously and that my concerns regarding their practitioners will be dismissed. This is not a safe space.

Dr. Bowes was my original provider here and he is great, but a little quick and often out delivering babies. I recently switched to Jamie, a PA at this office, and she's amazing. She provides great care, listens to all of my concerns and questions, and is open, warm, and nonjudgmental. I highly recommend Jamie and hope she sticks around at Grand Rapids Women's Health for a long time so I can continue to have her as my provider. I've never had any issues with billing, appointments, or anything else. Plus they have a parking lot that they validate, and it's close to my house. Definitely will continue to seek care here as long as I can!

My dad (87) is not the easiest patient, but Marcie had a work around for everything. She took him for his XRay. Less than 5 minutes later a male and female Dr came in and kindly, and simply, told (and showed on X-ray) my dad his arm was broken. They sent him across the hall to get a cast. It was a great experience from beginning to end. But what really made me know my dad was in good hands was Marcie. She cared enough to figure things out even when he kept saying he "was fine". I was able to make the appointment online easily for that same week, which was nice. They sent a ton of forms to fill out prior to the appointment, which took a bit of time, but I didn't have to re-do any of the paperwork when I was there. The building has plenty of parking but it was pretty busy as the lot is shared with some other offices. I was seen pretty close to my appointment time by PA Nate. He listened to my concerns and did a quick physical exam of my knee and sent me for an x-ray which was done in their own lab. I got my results fairly quickly and they recommended physical therapy. They did call me several times to follow up to schedule PT as well as make a return appointment, which I declined. Overall it was a good experience, I don't have anything to compare it to but I felt listened to and supported in my care at this practice.

I even told the doctor, Daniel Mann, that I suspected pneumonia. He listened to my lungs for less than 10 seconds, dismissed my concerns, and prescribed me an inhaler, steroids, and a cough suppressant--despite the fact that I told him I did not have a cough. When I asked for clarification about my symptoms, the only explanation I was given was "it's probably a cold." When I asked if he could say with certainty that it was not pneumonia, he told me yes. I had to push just to get a COVID and flu test, because in my life I've never had a "cold" this severe. To be fair, I understand my visit was close to closing time. However, this was the only urgent care open at the time, and I simply cannot afford an ER visit. I was hoping for thorough care and reassurance, but instead left feeling dismissed and confused. Over the following week, my symptoms did not improve and actually got worse, especially the difficulty breathing. I ended up going to a different urgent care for a second opinion, where they performed a chest X-ray and confirmed I do in fact have pneumonia. That means I spent an entire week untreated, walking around contagious, exposing my baby brother and my best friend who has severe asthma and lung issues. This misdiagnosis and dismissal could have had serious consequences for me and the people around me. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of thoroughness and the disregard for my symptoms, and I would strongly caution others about the level of care provided here.
