Thing 2: The company that sent it to you just had to pay Chicago $20 million for bribing city officials. Fight them. Thing 3: Our lawyer, Sarah Sager, is great! She fought for us. We just moved to Ventura from Denver and thought this place was paradise. The people, the climate, the food, the culture are wonderful. But, as with anything wonderful, one awful thing has to taint it. In Ventura, that thing is the red light camera stations. They are on nearly every major intersection - except, of course, the ones leading out of city hall, the police station, and the county building. It almost seems like those people enjoy the money we send them, but don't want to experience the burden of getting a ticket from the Glendale Arizona company that runs the intersection cameras, signs witness on the ticket remotely, and profits from all of it. The traffic violation notice was not issued or witnessed by a Ventura citizen, let alone a Ventura Police officer, which makes one wonder why we pay them. If anyone would like to join me in petitioning to line the roads of City Hall and the police dept. with their "Redflex" red light photo enforcement cameras, send me a message! (Also, did you know this company had to pay Chicago $20 million in 2017 for bribery and kickbacks? Look at your city officials and ask yourself how much they took.) In any case, my wife and I met Sarah Sager at a social engagement and she told us part of the expense of living in Ventura is paying the red light violations. She is a super pleasant and warm person and despite her legal expertise, she doesn't come off stiff and lawyer-like. She said if we need a red light, DUI, or other traffic violation lawyer in Ventura or Los Angeles, we should call her. Literally the next day my wife got one. She would have had to slam on the brakes turning left at Victoria and Telegraph, and her 8 months pregnant belly couldn't handle it. 2 weeks later, a photo from the City of Ventura Police Department showed up in our mailbox. But the letter inside was from Arizona and witnessed by two people there who work for the massive Australian company, who's former CEO is currently sitting in jail for bribery. If you are reading this review, you probably had the same first thought we did: "Do I have to pay?" Short answer: Probably yes, but not as much with a good lawyer. So Sarah took our case and the best thing about working with her is that she made it completely painless. The next thing we knew, she had delayed the court date, which was already nice because it gave us more time with our own money. She communicated exactly the right amount. We never felt like we were being ignored, or that we were spending too much of our own time on it. We never even had to show up to court. She sat with the judge and reviewed the evidence against my wife, including video of the red light infraction. She checked to be sure the camera inspection dates were all up to date. And she examined any other possible red light citation loopholes. Next thing we knew, Sarah sent us the judgement that cut our total cost in half! She also arranged traffic school which, despite being a ridiculous waste of my wife's time, did save her the points on her license. Lastly, the satisfaction of knowing the city made less money from their unconstitutional activity because of Sarah's hard work on our behalf is nice. If everyone who got a red light ticket fought it, it would eventually eat up enough court time to make the program unprofitable. Red light tickets are legal right now, but they are a violation of your rights. Please fight this red light ticket scam! If your experience is like mine, it will save you money. Hoping I never have to hire Sarah again, but with the minefield of intersection cameras around Ventura, it seems inevitable. I'm glad to know we've got her in our corner! Definitely will be looking to her to fight my future traffic tickets.
