They've got a large selection of Goya products, canned foods and dry beans and spices. They've got a healthy selection of Caribbean colas, which are always fun. I could try them all! The frozen selection is amazing! They've got heaps of food that has been imported from afar to end up here under ice. There's a small produce selection that seems to favor plantains. If they don't have it fresh, they'll have it frozen. My favorite were the large African sculptures they were selling by the door. The clerk was friendly and said "hi" when I came in. The merchandise looked all pretty fresh. I wish there were some things to help explain what some of the ingredients and products were. It'd be nice if they had recipes or cards that explained that these items are snacks, and these are ingredients. But if I had any questions, the clerk was happily standing by to answer. Parking is easy- it's in an African/Filipino strip shopping center. Cool.

This time I saw a review of the pho and it is recommended to ask for ribs and oxtail which I did that. I just got back from Vietnam not too long ago and let me tell you this is hands down the best pho in San Antonio! The owner is so so friendly! He took me to the kitchen showing me how he cook the broth. We had a chat about Vietnam and the food and different style of pho between north and south. At the end of my meal he brought out snacks and insisted on me taking a hand full of them! I believe this pho is only offered on weekends and make sure to ask for the mix. For a moment they thought I was ordering one of each This supermarket and cafe truly give you a Vietnam experience without the need to get on a plane. Highly recommend

Pros: - Pretty good selection for San Antonio…read more - Freshness varies relative to when you visit vs. when they got a shipment, but it can be decent! Cons: - Not fully stocked .. ever?? There's always gaps in the shelves from sold out products.. but there's probably a serviceable substitute available. Also prices aren't always clearly displayed - Asian grocery store smell (or maybe it's a pro if you're feeling nostalgic haha) This store leans Vietnamese and Chinese but, true to its name, it also carries a decent selection of other Asian products (like Japanese and Korean, I'm personally not as familiar with Thai so can't speak on that). It's great to have fresh Asian produce that's reasonably priced - i.e. $1.50-2.50 / lb for leafy greens. $2 for enoki mushrooms. There's also a strong seafood section with live fish. Location is super convenient off of I-35. Parking is easy. I come here once a month or so to restock my Asian groceries.

But I bought my son a square of pistachio baklava, not 24k enrobed anything and it was nothing special. Actually, he's had better at other places in town. So, I went on a quest to find it just with the knowledge of the cross streets. I found it! The bakery sells hot and packaged items. They have a freezer with goodies too. I had the zaatar bread and cheese bread. It was heated up in a brick oven. There's a lot of savory items, but they also have some sweet. He gave me a sample of a dessert made with dates. Of course, I had to order some baklava. There were so many things I wanted to taste, but I had already had lunch. The guy working that day tried his best to help us make a good choice. The place is small. They do have one table, but I suspect the food is mostly taken to go. Parking is on site and shared, but plentiful.

There are freezers full to the brim of just about every kind of fresh fish you can think of. He opened them one by one and showed me and I was so impressed. They arrived fresh every week and he said that he can slice and prepare whatever amount I would need since some of them are huge and I guess my eyes were bulging! I'm an islander, but not familiar with the large variety that he carries in this little store. I'm looking forward to learning more about all these different types of fish. The grocery section is towards the front of the store and I was happy to find some familiar items especially rice which is really what I needed for dinner tonight. Jonni says he'll be adding more items to the grocery section as well as more freezers in the back to accommodate more meat. I was glad to share in his excitement as I told him about Yelp! and that I would be posting his business. So stop on by if your traveling on Wurzbach and say hi to our new international grocery store in town. Thanks so much :-) I'll be back! L.
