FOOD & DRINKS They don't joke around with their creamy soup with collagen. So much that the soup actually has a bit of funk to it. Their ramen is the only ramen around the area where you can really taste and feel the collagen. The broth is thick and when its getting a bit cold you can already see the soup creating a thin layer. The taste and smell can be a bit off putting for some but after a couple sips you might get used to it. I would say its definitely not for everyone but you are in luck because there are other broth options to choose from. The dark chicken meat was tender and the noodles were firm and had a satisfying chew to them. Overall a good bowl of ramen. SERVICE The place wasn't busy when I came in. The food was served pretty fast and all I can say is that the service was outstanding. Everyone including the non Japanese staff were very friendly and smiling. The girls were super cute and the guys very cool. There is only one thing that bothered me a tiny bit. My bowl came out very oily and I mean the bowl itself. Plus the bowl was made out of plastic. I know high quality ramen bowls are expensive and heavy but they look so much better. And one more suggestion. If you serve a bowl of ramen with a red colored soup, its better to serve it in a white or black bowl instead of a red one. Just for the looks. ATMOSPHERE The advantage of this restaurant is the space. It is large and can fit a lot of people but I have to say that the design is boring. The walls are full of advertisement for the restaurant or just feel empty. For me this restaurant lacks charm. It needs a touch more Japan and less advertisement. And if you want to do advertisement, make it cute and creative. My favorite seating area is actually the communal table in the middle. RATING So this is the "newcomer". With the likes of Takumi which already has expanded to several locations around the area it is not easy to compete. But due to the long lines for Takumi and Naniwa this restaurant can certainly pick up a few customers who don't want to wait too long. And why not? They do a good bowl of ramen and the service is lovely. The only reason I gave four stars is that I personally would only come back for the service. The ramen was good but I didn't enjoy it to a point that makes me want to come back. As you can see it all came down to my taste and if you would give it 5 stars I wouldn't even want to argue it.

After traveling around Switzerland for a week, it got to that point in the trip where we…read moredesperately needed Asian food. We were passing through Düsseldorf for half a day and saw they're known for their Japanese food, so we decided to check out Takumi! They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. AJITAMA TONKOTSU RAMEN: I'm a tonkotsu person and almost always order this over other types of ramen. Not sure if I was just so severely deprived of Asian food, but I felt Takumi's tonkotsu ramen ranked pretty high on my list! And coming from SoCal as well as having lived down the street from both major Japanese food hubs in Los Angeles, that's saying a lot! Good amount of pork, the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture, and the broth was rich without being overly salty. I don't usually enjoy other types of ramen so I can't speak for those items from their menu. But I slurped my entire bowl of tonkotsu ramen dry! KARAAGE: Large pieces with crispy exterior and super juicy interiors! I wasn't expecting much but in the end I was super happy we ordered this. Overall, amazing tonkotsu ramen located in Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo.

Be sure to order it with vegan noodles if you want it vegan. The ramen came out in about 3 minutes! The portion is reasonable, with really nice, firm, al dente noodles, one piece of bok choy, a few slices of raw tomato, 3 pieces of fried tofu, and shaved green onion. The broth is of course what tends to make or break a ramen, and the broth here was excellent: nutty, lightly spicy, complex, without being too heavy. Really authentic tan tan men broth here. Not exceptional, hence the 4-star review, but damn impressive. I'd prefer some better toppings (e.g., replace the tomato with something like menma, kikurage, or something a little more authentic). Very friendly, appreciative Japanese service. Definitely recommended for great vegan/veggie ramen.

Gyoza waren maximal ok. Bleibt beim karaage und takoyaki Ramen technisch auf keinen Fall was scharfes, dann direkt Standard miso ramen.

It was pretty busy but we were still able to snag one of the two open tables. The inside has a bunch of tables along with a little bar area. The broth has enough depth to support two extra servings of noodles which says a lot about its richness. The ingredients taste fresh and the bowl includes greens corn sprouts and tofu skin that all blend well with the noodles. The portion size is medium and works well for a casual lunch or lighter dinner. The service is where the experience feels more typical of Germany rather than what you might expect from a Japanese restaurant. The staff is not very attentive and the overall service can feel slow or indifferent. There is no English menu available which may be challenging for some visitors. However you can still get by with simple English and a few basic German phrases and the staff will usually understand enough to take your order. The restaurant itself has a straightforward casual vibe and the food quality is consistently good. The ramen is the highlight with its strong broth and reliable flavor. If you are craving vegetable ramen with a thicker broth and do not mind the slower service Takezo is worth a visit.
