Truly modern facilities (with a bidet!), spacious, well designed rooms, and great beds. Very reasonably priced hotel. Option of purchasing breakfast at the hotel, but you within close proximity of Starbucks, McDonalds, and Burger King amongst other local options. Fantastic rooftop viewing for sunrises or sunsets or the plaza. You can purchase wine in the lobby to bring up to rooftop.

Had to dig a little to see you pick up prepaid bracelets at any of the 7 locations listed as included landmarks. Just show your QR code and they supply bracelet(s) and maps. Then guide your own tour from there. Children (or adults) can get an embossed stamp on the map at each location. They mentioned no prize or anything for collecting all, it's just for souvenir value, and it's fun for kids. We arrived in Toledo later than desired due to a negative experience with Drivalia rental cars (booked through DiscoverCars), so our time in Toledo was cut short. Therefore, we only managed to visit four of the seven landmarks, but it was well worth the €14 per adult, and free for kids. I asked advice on which places to prioritize when I picked up our bracelets and the advice proved very helpful. To give you an idea of how much time you need, you can probably visit all in well under 3 hours depending on how fast you walk. It took us an hour and 40min (with bathroom break detour) to do: Iglesia del Salvador, Santo Tomé, Sinagoga de Santa María la Blanca, and Monasterio de San Juan de Los Reyes. We spent 10-30min at most locations, but do account for walking time, and consult the map for the most efficient route. We spent the longest at Monasterio de San Juan de Los Reyes because it is the biggest and had the most to see. According to time stamps in my pictures, we were there 38min. I definitely recommend this bracelet. Plan to do it all in a half day, and there is still a TON more to see from the El Greco museum, to the cathedral, to sword making, Manchego cheese tasting, etc. Remember to hit the mirador, preferably at sunset!

I hadn't actually planned…read moreon Toledo as a part of my trip to Spain but decided I wasn't going to make it to Seville this trip, and didn't think I needed the extra days in Madrid. Lucky for me there is a train from Madrid that makes it a very short trip (an hour? less?... it's been about 4.5 years since I visited). My mouth dropped when I entered the station, and after 45 minutes or so taking photos of the interior of the station and a few of the outside I made my way to my hotel. It is a beautiful train station, full stop, with art glass throughout. It's not centuries old, having been built a bit over a century ago; however, it has taken some of the Muslim influence that has so long made Toledo a unique city and incorporated it here as a fine example of Neo-Mudéjar (Moorish Revival) architecture. You don't need to marvel at the place for as long as I did. However, it's worth a few minutes to appreciate the art of the station itself, and the train is so little used in the US (and most stations so disappointingly plain) that this one deserves to be appreciated. It is a small railway station with really only one room, so you won't be sacrificing much time by doing so.

Did a day trip out to Toledo - I don't normally do any type of tours, but I did this so I could…read morehave a break from walking. My experience was OK/as expected, but this would be a good activity for kids and/or the elderly. Got a ticket for 6.50 Euros - there's a stand in the middle of a plaza. They'll hand you some headphones (it's an audio tour) and ask that you walk a little up the street to where the train boards from. I don't recall how often the train runs - I'd imagine at least every hour or so. The "train" is your standard tour type of vehicle on wheels (like the ones at amusement parks) and the audio tours come in multiple languages (you plug in your headphones to appropriate language in front of your seat). I had some issues hearing the audio, even with the volume cranked up - had to manually push the headphones against my ear so I could hear better. If you have your own headphones, you might want to try those instead. They drive you around to different points in the town, and there was one pit stop at the top of a hill for you to take pictures (5 to 10 minutes). The entire ride lasted about 40 to 50 minutes. Overall, my experience was as expected - it wasn't the most exciting thing to do as a grown adult, but it's a nice break from walking. It can also allow you to see some sights at the start of your Toledo trip and you can go back and see the ones you liked in detail later.

The hotel has an ice machine. Robe and slippers provided. Marzipan, wine, and a single bottle of water provided for free. The bad: Front desk was short staffed; EVERY single time I went up there I had to wait in line. The dining room staff speak surprisingly little English (for being in a tourist town) and it made necessary communications a bit more difficult than usual (again, for a hotel in a tourist town). AC was only adequate (not great), and there were no plugs (for charging mobile phone) near the nightstands/bed. Coming from a hotel with unlimited free bottled water, a single bottle of free water seems bad; I had to stop at a store to buy big bottles for room.
