They do a great mix with pink shrimps, flying sauces, marshmallows etc, it is about £3 for 400g but a wicked treat for a friday afternoon. They often do 50% everything in store which is a good time to stock up. They also sell natural liquorice, and a good selecton of it to this is hard to find in Basingstoke!

The focus here is almost entirely on food, with only one small section of kitchen tools and other stuff. I was tempted to pick up a small microwave for £30, but passed as there was no way I could carry it. I did manage to pick up a £4 USB optical mouse and a £3 USB cable (that cost £16 at PC World!). Great selection of stuff with most items available in at least two or three different brands, plus the Asda "Smart Choice" which is always good too. As I'm starting to notice in the UK, this store has the typical large selection of cheese and the meat section was very good. Lamb over here is so much cheaper than it is in the States. I had to ask for help to find the sugar, which was surprisingly not with the cooking and baking. Instead, it was in the alcohol aisle with the tea and coffee. When I asked Lisa for help (they're not employees here, or "associates" like in the US Wal-Mart, but rather "colleagues"), she brought me right to the section instead of pointing the way. Lots of tills ("registers" in American) were open so I didn't wait long at all. Debbie, who checked me out, was very friendly and helpful. We thought we got all the electronics tags but managed to miss one and the security colleague who responded to me setting off the alarm was pleasant about the situation and handled it with a smile. One tip: if you're planning on taking the bus here, it's not close. You'll have to walk at least 200 yards. And on Sunday, the service is few and far between. Overall, a very good shop. I got a ton of stuff for my £65. My fridge and pantry are heaving. Very good value.

We do not go often enough to remember the changes and it must have taken us twice as long as previously. We have to keep looking for staff who can tell us where things are and they cannot enjoy this continual distraction. The whole shopping process has been very tiring and we no longer enjoy visiting Waitrose as we used to. Please think twice before doing this to us again.

Meat tends to be packaged in portions for 2 or 4 and larger joints are harder to come by. The fresh meat and fish counters vary in terms of stock but all is good. The deli is excellent with a good choice. Waitrose entertains is available in store as is glass hire. Staff are vey friendly and offer good assistance. There is a self-scan facility which speeds up checkout. Waitrose are participating in a community scheme benefitting local charities at the moment which appeals. Battery and plastic bag recycling are available in store. The car park is well maintatined and trolleys and baskets are always available, dry and in good condition. Opening hours vary throughout the week with extended hours towards the weekend.

Had driven past this emporium many times and often wondered what it was like inside. One evening I…read moredesperately needed some frozen peas and Waitrose was shut so I decided to take the plunge. Well... what a truly surreal ordeal. An air-hanger-esque cathedral of produce awaited me. Guadily lit with bright white strip lighting. As well as groceries were countless aisles of cheap clothing, toys, games and various bric-a-brac. And the denizens were no less bizarre. There was a small boy dressed as the comic book character Spider Man running around unsupervised. Occassionally he would just stand there staring at me as I tried to locate the frozen vegetable section in this labyrinth of comestibles. A truly un-nerving experience.
