Not just pumpkins, this farm stand is open during the summer with lots of fresh peaches, cherries, heirloom tomatoes, local honey and a good variety of other fresh items. I stopped by after hiking the coast and got nectarines, rainier cherries, yellow peppers, lemons and local honey from Arata farms. The lady who was working was very sweet and greeted everyone browsing around. Prices were on par with farmers market produce rates and the quality was great. Very basic set up and easy to shop and park. Located just outside of downtown, it's a great option to pick up some local produce before heading home. read more

A family favorite- been around when I was a kid. My daughter wrestled an 80 lbs. pumpkin into the car to take home one year. It's a fun place and a great resource for local fresh veggies- they have all kinds of veggies and fruits. Outside stall, as well as inside market. We found FRESH pumpkins in December here. $1 each. The next day, my husband made the best pumpkin pie. It tasted sooo good. This really made me happy, now I can stop avoiding pumpkin pie! Fresh ingredients make such a difference. My friend and I came to Tom & Pete's searching for pumpkins to carve right before Halloween and she had heard via Nextdoor that they had great selections and were fairly priced unlike some pumpkin patches around HMB. We were super happy to see they had a $5 section with great pumpkins AND to make everything better, they have a cat named Boots that drools. Seriously, I could've stayed there all day hanging out with Boots. Everyone we encountered there was soooo friendly and welcoming, they made sure we got our pumpkins safely to the car and even let us hang out guarding our pumpkins while they went and rang our cards. I really enjoyed my experience and I can't wait to come back for more pumpkins next year! read more

Your friendly neighborhood produce guys. We spend quite a lot of time in Half Moon Bay during the weekend and I don't know why we haven't stopped here sooner than later. We always passed by this stand even though it was very inviting with their sign and products on full display. This past weekend, I made it my mission to check out their produce before we headed home for the day. First thing that we noticed was the 99 cents seedless watermelons on sale. This is the perfect fruit on a summer day and we took full advantage by grabbing half a dozen sweet ones. There's an art into picking watermelons since you have to make sure the area where it was resting on is a dark yellow color, and look for the webbing since it means it was pollinated frequently by honey bees. Then the Wifey noticed that the mangoes where only 5 for a buck and boy did she grab a few dozens and I was in for quite a workout. Of course she sampled the product first and they were nice and sweet so we have a few more left on our dinner table. The selection of fruits and veggies were fresh, wonderful, colorful, vibrant and all reasonably priced. Heck, some of the prices were straight up a bargain with their high quality. And the two guys working there were definitely friendly, entertaining, helpful and a hoot. I think they were Tom & Pete, but I didn't bother asking. I'll do that next time and maybe this next weekend, perhaps. read more

Pretty good fruit stand just on the edge of downtown. The selection of goods always varies, depending on the season, but we always find something to our liking every time we stop by. The folks that work here are generally friendly, but sometimes they can be distracted in conversations either with other customers or on the phone, but I won't begrudge them that. We usually stop in here before embarking on adventures around the area, as it's nice to have some fresh fruit regardless of whether you're taking a hike, hanging out at the beach, taking in a youth soccer game, or just aimlessly strolling down Main Street. read more

We're here this morning at 1028 hrs, 5/22/18. Man working there, growled we don't open until 1000 hrs. Her Ladyship, pointed out that it was after 10. Okay, but she had barely bagged one item, before he was growling again they don't take cash. Fine, we don't live under a rock, we have CCs. His gruff treatment of her grace, continued, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. In her polite British wit, she gave him a piece of her mind, some of the words, contained more than one syllable, so this knuckle dragging neanderthal, probably didn't understand all of her insult. I've seen this business around for a while, but only recently with a roadside display of produce under a tent. Produce looks great. Prices are good. So far I've tried only the strawberries. Baskets have good strawberries down to the bottom of the basket. Very friendly. Family operated. Will be going back. Looks like they are ready for the Pumpkin Festival in 2 weeks with a stand right on Main and many bins of pumpkins. read more

Tom and Pete's is one of the first businesses you encounter as soon as you turn on to Main Street in Half Moon Bay. My boyfriend and I passed it and all the good prices on the pineapple and watermelon caught our eye. It seemed like a great place to stock on some fruits before we headed out to the beach for the day. We got a wide assortment of fruits such as watermelon, pineapple, cherries, grapes, and nectarines. Everything we have tasted so far has been ripe and juicy! I don't remember most of the prices, but I do remember that watermelons were going for $2.99/each on the day we were there. When we went to pay for our fruit, the cashier asked us where we were from and personally thanked us for coming out. Gotta love that personal customer service. I've driven past here for years and finally decided to stop in. I was very surprised. They had great produce and vegetables. Most of it was local. You could tell it was not the normal supermarket stuff as some was smaller, not as perfect, and of varying ripeness. The prices are very reasonable. Plastic bags or boxes are available. Service was outstanding! Ask questions and they can tell you where items are from and how to prepare. You can pay with credit card, cash, or digital payment. All credit card and digital payments incur a $.50 fee. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by the produce stand on the way home from a nearby pumpkin patch on the hunt for some butternut and acorn squash. Not only did they have a pretty wide selection of these, they also had the cutest mini gourds, pumpkins (from mini to very large), dried jewel corn, and other produce. We come here most weekends. This past two weekends have made us decide to go somewhere else. The first, there was only a child working the stand. The kid was struggling to drag a tree to a car. This Saturday, we went there to find this lady screaming at the same child. The poor kid was in tears as the lady reamed him out. I tried to get someone to help. I asked a young woman if she worked there and she said yes; and I told her what was happening. She didn't help and continued working. I won't ever go back here again and I'll tell all my friends to do the same. I'm sure this won't hurt them at all, but they won't be seeing any of my money again. It is NEVER okay to treat a child like that. Not only were they taking advantage of him by having him work alone, but then to scream at and make him cry? Horrible woman. read more

Extremely fresh fruits and vegetables, and much more, for exceptional prices. I will only be shopping here now that I found it! We used to go to Safeway, New Leaf or the Farmer's Market. We stopped by last night to get a Christmas tree -- they're open till 7:00pm if you're in the market for one by the way! They have a huge selection of all kinds of trees -- big and small, fat and skinny, etc etc. None of them were scraggly or pathetic looking. And the prices were more than fair. The guys were hilarious. Incredibly helpful and friendly. It was cool to watch them rig our tree up with a rebar stand. There are a couple of resident kitties on the premises who are super cute & friendly as well! Any place with friendly kitties gets 5 stars from me anyway. ;D We thought about just stopping by Rite-Aid and grabbing one of the trees they had out front, but I'm glad we came here instead. This is a great little produce stand. Even though it is small they carry a good variety of fresh vegetables and fruit. I walked with a pound of cherries, four ears of corn, and a pound of brussel sprouts for about $7.00. Not a bad deal at all. The gentleman working behind the counter was very friendly. He gave us prices on some of the produce that showed none. He joked around with us as we shopped, at the same time interacting with locals. The stand also varies brochures for restaurants in the area, soda, and cigarettes. It's not only a produce stand, but also a one-stop-shop for everything else you want. read more

Oh, I love Tom & Pete's Produce! I visit once a week & do my best to fill my bags to the brim (easy to do here!). Since moving to HMB in December 2013 I have always found a friendly smile in John, Tom's son, who operates the stand. He always asks how work is going, how my family is and I don't believe has ever had a bad day (or at least he doesn't let you know he has any). He is a wonderful man and is always helpful when asking questions about their produce or what is in season. I can't recommend enough you visit this stand to get some fresh produce and even better, to chat with John. Great family and great produce, for very reasonable prices! read more

I hate to give a bad review because unlike the other comments, the guy that served us on Saturday 08/04/18 was so nice. But the majority of items we bought turned out to not be good/rotten. We had to throw out the entire basket of apricots we bought (2 baskets for $5). Every apricot was rotten inside. The second basket was tomatoes and they are mealy. We bought a $1 pineapple and the texture is very weird. We also bought a honeydew melon but I have not cut it open yet. The produce looked great but unfortunately, we had a bad experience. read more

we always stopped here for veggies to take home....but we will not be going back. Last time they were a bit off hand , like we were too much trouble. This time the bearded guy was just plain rude. Yes he was setting up for the day, but they say they open at 10 and this was 10.30. When I asked if they were open he said "NO!!!" "we open at 10!" I thought he was being caustically funny. and went over to see what was there. I was surprised at the poor quality of the produce, the mangoes were all wrinkled the cauliflower badly formed and very dirty. peaches and nectarines the size of an apricot. Most of the veggies looked tired! So I grabbed a bag of English peas, and proceeded to pay. "We don't have any cash, so you can't pay". "Oh I have lots of change "I said. "You have to pay with a credit Card". "Oh ok"I said.. Then he took off on his small fork lift. He returned a few minutes later with more produce, and it was obvious he had hoped I would disappear!. By then I had weighed my produce, and with my very mathematical mind, figured the cost. I had the money in my hand, ready , and my card. He was NOT going to serve me.... I offered the money, " I have to weigh it on MY scale", "Yep thats the one I used."(like I carried a personal version with me????). "Well I can't do that!!!" "You will have to wait"...Then he took off on his fork lift.....Needless to say I took off , sans peas, and we will not be going back. read more

We had the good fortune to stop by at the end of the day on a Sunday. They were practically giving away the last of their produce. Bought a 24 oz. jar of local tarweed honey for $20 - about what you'd expect to pay - and it is delicious! They offered us the rest of their pears, both Asian and D'anjou, fifteen in all (and large too), FOR FREE! When we tried to slip them an extra $5 when we paid for the honey they insisted on giving us fifteen plums FOR FREE! I don't expect that they're always this generous, and I wouldn't expect them to offer you free produce, but actions like this are revealing of someone's character, and John, who was helping us (and is either Pete or Tom's son), is clearly a generous guy who believes in giving his customers a good value. read more

At my age I am not used to sending reviews but on this occasion I felt I must. While walking down the street in Half Moon Bay on Mothers Day I was approached by this guy in a military jacket, welcoming me to HMB and handed me a visitors guide with your card attached. Found out he is a fellow Scotsman called Russ. So he told me that your produce store was just over the bridge. So I visited and was surprised to find a really nice man selling Fruit and Veg. I bought some strawberries really fresh as Russ had told me. I was treated with kindness and respect. What a superb little business you have. I told my fellow Lions Club members, and behold some knew exactly where you were. What a wonderful experience. I will be back and thank Russ and John. read more
