I have insurance with Brian but am currently working on FIXING that problem. I asked him for a…read morecouple quotes on what it would take to put my girlfriend, that doesnt and never did live with me, on the policy. He provided the quotes and I thought they were a little high, $220 more just to add her, so I decided against it. Well apparently there was some miscommunication because she was added anyways. I thought this was just a minor mix up and that I would call and get it fixed. Well I called and he refused to refund my money! I told him it was a mistake and he basically told me that it doesn't matter. So I filed a formal complaint. Of course the corporate office did nothing to help me and basically told me the same thing. So I will be calling anyone and everyone I can to get this fixed. Even if there was a "miscommunication", she never lived with me and they never asked me if she did! So she shouldn't of been added anyway. You would think that they would just return the $220 to make the mistake right but no. I would not recommend going with Brian McPherson or Shelter Insurance.

I switched to Allstate 6 months ago because their rate for homeowner's insurance was slightly lower…read morethan I was paying on my current policy. The auto insurance was a little higher but reasonable. Right after this I got a message saying my homeowners was going to be cancelled because there was some limbs touching my roof unless I got them trimmed (which I did); but before I could even take care of this (due to bad weather) they cancelled my home insurance and raised the rate on my auto policy. It took many phone calls to get this straightened out and I still got charged a higher rate on my auto for 2 months. Now, a few days ago, I received my 6 month renewal on my auto liability insurance and it increased by $120.00 per year. I would have understood a slight increase but this was a lot considering I have had no tickets, accidents or claims and drive very little (less than 100 miles per month). When I called to get an explanation for this I was told it was a state wide increase and that they would email me a list of things I could do to save a little. That has been 3 days ago and so far I have heard nothing from them (which doesn't surprise me considering how long it took them to get the first problem straightened out). So, all this being said, BUYER BEWARE! The rate they quote you will probably not be the rate you'll be paying when its time to renew. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me with Allstate, the first being several years ago. Seems like this is a common practice for them.

Added items to my policy after having paid in full for multiple policies a month ago. When I called…read moreto cancel I was informed they can only pro rate cancel. This was after 0 communication or attempt to call me before adding the unwanted coverage. Representative's response when I told her this would cost her business "that's okay with me" 0/10
