Todd Burg is a poor excuse for an accountant…read more I entered into a contract with him at the recommendation of my attorney. I was facing a very contentious divorce, and required forensic accounting services. After paying the retainer, I heard nothing from Mr Burg after the initial phone consultation, and after providing him with reams of financials as required for the discovery process. My repeated phone calls went unanswered. My attorney also contacted Mr Burg, and requested any work product. Nothing. After repeated attempts to get ANY work product ( which were never produced), I fired Mr Burg. I did not get a refund of my retainer, although ZERO work product was produced. I have never seen such an unprofessional performance by an accountant in all of my years of experience, both in the public and private sector. He does not represent his firm well, and is surely a detriment to the establishment of a professional reputation for same. There are too many other good accounting firms out there to waste time (and money) with Burg. I am pursuing this matter through another venue as my divorce was finalized recently. The forensic accountant I hired after Mr Burg did a fantastic job. DO NOT HIRE THIS "accountant", unless you expect poor performance at top dollar pricing. I would give him a zero star rating if this was possible.

My father was a procrastinator by nature and was sure he'd be around into his 90s just like his parents, so there was no estate planning done. Needless to say, everything had to be set up in a hurry and since we were all very emotional, we did not ask the questions we should have regarding the tax implications of the estate plan. After my father passed away, Nelson, a long time family friend, offered to help us navigate through the "aftermath". He ultimately got licensed in our state and took over primary communication with our less than stellar attorney as her inconsistent and sometimes incorrect information was becoming a burden on us as we were working full-time and still grieving. Nelson spent countless hours researching for us and determined that we needed an amendment to our family trust in order to protect the money we needed to care for my mother from going to taxes unnecessarily. We got all of this squared away just in time for my mother to pass away, just a little over a year after my father. Nelson's knowledge, experience, and dedication made an extremely difficult time a little bit easier on my family by removing the stress associated with the financial aspect. He has a wonderful ability to weed through the emotions at hand and determine the appropriate actions, not to mention a great deal of patience. We will forever be grateful for everything he did to help our family, and I know my parents are grateful, too.

Beautiful building with amazing art…read more If you are visiting Raymond James Financial headquarters, you're in for a treat. There are four towers, all connected by walkways. Towers 3 and 4 connect on the first and second floor, Towers 3 and 2 connect via a glass walkway over the road on the fourth floor and you can continue on to Tower 1 via the fourth floor. It can take close to ten minutes to walk from Tower 4 to Tower 1. The main entrance for guests is on the first floor between Towers 3 and 4 and there is a guard present 24/7. There are cafeterias in Tower 3 and Tower 1 and a mini Starbucks in Tower 3. There are two parking garages for employees, one behind Tower 3 and one behind Tower 4. There is also outdoor employee parking lots by Tower 1 and 2. Guest parking is in front of Tower 3 and 4. What really makes Raymond James home office worth visiting is the artwork. Each floor and section has a different theme ranging from pop culture to nature. There are many stunning statues nestled in conference rooms or by walkways. Just walking around the area in front of the building makes you feel like you're in a sculpture garden. Tom James has an affinity for Native American art, so there is an abundance of sculptures and paintings with that motif. If you are an art aficionado, you can schedule to go on a tour of the Raymond James building. Home office employees of the firm can choose to be trained in giving art tours and the community at large benefits from this. You get to walk around as a group and hear the history of the beautiful artwork. For those of you who are still playing Pokemon, like my husband, you'll find an amazing number of Pokestops in this area. I think there are at least five? (It has been a while since I played). It's because the game recognizes the beauty of the outdoor statues.

Going into this process I knew absolutely nothing about the SBA or much about lending in general. I was referred by the largest business broker in Las Vegas to a different SBA banker with the largest SBA bank in America. When they unfortunately couldn't get my deal done , I cold called 3 SBA bankers from a LinkedIn search. 2 sent me to voicemail but Jake picked up on the second ring & the rest is history. It's very clear within a few minutes of talking to Jake how outstanding at his job he is. He lives breathes and sleeps SBA deals , and sets himself apart from any other banker I've worked with by how committed he is. My business had many unique challenges and the deal ended up taking over 6 months (my own fault) and Jake stuck with me and coached me through each step of the process constantly checking in & asking how he could help. Jake is also incredibly generous with his time & navigates this SBA / loan / banking world almost as if he can see the future. He's been the perfect partner for a guy who knows how to run a business but doesn't know much about banking or the SBA. If youre a business owner or want to be business owner like I was & you're thinking about pulling the trigger on an SBA loan or even just want more info about anything SBA banking I URGE you to pick up the phone and call Jake
